1st off I am not a metal kind of dude but I am here to support Shootie because he offers the best Toontrack videos's! I would like to see Toontrack full time sponsor this channel period. Shawn offers focused fast and in depth info and that's what I appreciate. Creating good content is an art form and Not easy, few do it well and fewer do it high level. This channel deserves support.
...also when you fell off your chair I laughed so hard it made my day better.
Thank you for taking the time to say. It makes my day!!!!
“Toontrack sponsored” It’s about time! They should have started paying you a long long time ago.
Thank you!!!
When he fell out of his chair, it blew my mind. Was not expecting that.

Shawn, my friend. THIS IS the ONE! This video is the mantra needed for the ages!!! Thank you brother!
Thank you so much Patrick!!
What keeps me productive? HM. I'd say constant alarms on my phone and multiple whiteboards.
This content is fantastic, Shawn. I'm glad to see it.
My desk is a 100 small post-its, plus putting endless notes on my calendar as well.
@@ShootieSchool I need to get you a bulletin board. Hahahaha. Hope your day is going well, man!
i usually use ez drummer to play random beats until i get an idea, even if i don't get an idea i usually come up with a cool beat to add to my user midi to use later. great video.
Thank you, and great to hear!

Great video Shawn! There’s some great ideas here for composing in all genres.
Thanks for coming back, Mark!
I addition to the Jedi Mind Trick video to make templates I often recommend this tip for Reaper users. The action we create here is global to reaper and available to every new project. I use this one probably every session to present a guitar riff to any of the EZ products to get in the ballpark quickly. The search string is:
(This one might be members only, not sure so apologies if making the recommend this way is problematic)

Reaper is great with this one!
Fantastic and inspirational video, Shawn. The Highlight scale tones and snap features are really incredible. This gives me a lot to try out.
I use a project template as my scratch pad and in addition to the track you laid out, I have 3 guitar tracks set to clean, heavy rhythm, and lead tone. Plus I have a scratch vocal and even a synth track (ya never know!). I tried to anticipate any option I might want available without configuring getting in the way of inspiration.
Thank you, Scott! Great to hear!
awesome ideas. gives me a lot pf feresh ideas to try
Great to hear! Thanks for commenting!
thanks for your advise
Thank you, Michael! Welcome back!
Dude! What a great video and the chair bail was hilarious!

Thank you, Marc!
Great video and message! Subbed. 🤟😎
Awesome Rob! Welcome!
Thanks Shawn, awesome video as always
I appreciate that, Greg!
For inspiration and writers block I like to set one my cats on the keyboard and see what they trigger in EZ Drummer
Gonna have to try that with Lando. I thought you'd hit me with a porcelain nightmare reference.
@@ShootieSchool no but I’m glad you did!
Yup
WoW another awesome video!! Where have you been? I wish I located your channel a long, long time ago. Thank You!!!
You got it!
Great video. I could watch a few minutes of you falling off your chair 😁
Always hit hard!
Shawn, If I buy the new EZKeys 2 it comes with a free expansion. As a hard rock person which new expansion should I get with the purchase? I looked to see if you have a Dark Industrial EXK video but I do not see one. Could you advise. Sorry if I have ben asking a lot of questions tonight.
It's tough to make recommendations like this. The Synthwave has some good sawtooth sounds... ruclips.net/video/ECD85nn9Rdc/видео.htmlsi=pax59d26eXd5AnbB
Anyone else here find it easier to pick a drum beat first then write guitar riffs off of the drum beat. ?
In my other videos I call this The Chicken or The Egg. What comes first, The Riff or The Beat? I certainly use both methods depending on the mood or inspiration.
That's a toughie. The moment I write one or play one, I try to imagine the other straight-off. To see how it would go. Then, I ditch one, if necessary.
BUT, i want to know what everyone else wants to know... was that a staged fall or was that a genuine chair collapse? haha
Regardless, i dropped right on my elbow!
@@ShootieSchool haha ya boofhead
