The Black Mamba gets its name from the inside of it's mouth, which it black, no matter what the colour of the snake is. Just to add to your trivial knowledge. Gorgeous pen and nice review, as always.

Never thought that I'd meet another Lakernation citizen in the world of FP's (I use a purple TWSBI Eco inked with a local dark purple ink for that reason). Kobe's passing hit me really hard, and I was a bit surprised that a lot of people felt the same way...turns out Kobe left his legacy in so many of us. Mamba forever...
I’ve been thinking about this pen since the tragic accident. Obviously the Black Mamba name, but also the 888 and the fact that “Bean” grew up in Italy. I wish I could afford it right now to honor him and the other lives lost.
This is atop my wish list, although I had decided not to buy another black pen for a long while yet (I have seven black pens already). I also already own a pair of awesome Aurora 88 pens which are my most-loved pens of all time and also my favourite fountain pen brand. But this black mamba 88 is too good to resist, despite the predictably daunting price tag that is the norm with Aurora. And this whole ‘limited edition’ stunt adds to the steep pricing. Cool review as always, David. It certainly clinched it for me. I’m ordering it early next month.
All, and esp David will be extremely grateful as I am considering an Aurora Venezia Gold fountain pen, limited edition, has anyone used this version? Or knows how Aurora compares to GVFC or Pilot Custom 823, in wtiting smoothness?
I know late, but I have an Aurora 997 in Green. How do you completely fill this pen? When the pen is pointing nib down the ink window is full. When it is with the nib up, the ink window looks like there is little ink. Help!
I am terribly sorry if this is too off topic, but I have a question. I am new to the fountain pen world, and I've been using a pilot varsity for my notes this semester. I like it, but want something more sustainable. Would it be too big of a jump to go straight to a Lamy 2000? I haven't heard a single bad thing about it.
The L2K is a fantastic pen. It's something which should last you for years and has a timeless look. The nib can have a tendency to have a smaller sweet spot, but is a solid choice.
Shout out to Kobe!! Also,... I looked up couple more videos about Aurora and noticed, they post very well. Wow. Some long ones that posts.... look weird. But this one is great. I'm getting one.🙂😊🙂

I grew up with James Worthy in Gastonia, so we have parallel experiences being Lakers fans. Beautiful tribute to Kobe, David. Beautiful pen too. I’m sure Kobe woulda loved it.💜💛
