Really appreciate all the info. I ordered mine today and the Gelande hoops. Going with a Mamba X and Holmes Stubby 2200kv and Reefs 422 servo, some Method 105 with Trenchers and Lil Nova foams. I'm gonna carry it with me in the semi and try my hand at videos and call it Crawlin across the Country since I'm in a different place every night.
I’m so glad I found this channel. You have me looking at RC4wd products now and I will be expanding my collection with them. Never thought about leaf spring trucks or hardbodies. Now I have something else to spend my money on. Thanks Matt.
I sold that truck 2 years ago! Sorry! If you've got any questions you could always ask them during our livestream on Wednesday nights or DM me on Instagram!
Beware the grub screw mod... The threads will "saw" at the body and eventually totally wear through, in not a ton of time. My preferred method is to put a screw through the outside like normal, fill it with filler so it's "shaved," put a metal nut with liberal amounts of loctite on the back (pre filler), and then drill out your plastic screw mounts to the size of the screw with threads included. It has the same effect as the grub screw method, but the plastic pieces off the chassis don't tend to get eaten through; they're cheap and easy to change if they do, though. It's more work, but far more effective. I learned about this trick from Andy Lowery at the first USTE.
Good to know I’m not the only person who has had to make a strangely bent link for the sake of performance 😎. Great video , I appreciate the time you took to go into detail as to what it took to make things work.
Your vids always inspire me to go take a look at my rigs and see where I can make even a minor improvement. Not even throwing money at it necessarily, but things like moving shock hoops, re-thinking oil/spring rates, or the like. Thanks man! 🍻👍
Thank you for doing something besides the capra , I don't have a comp truck yet and looking for one , the right one , but definitely don't want a capra , it's a awesome truck , but everyone and there uncle is building one. Thanks bud . Love the channel
Very informative with great ideas. Thank you for the time you put into this to keep us well educated. I really appreciate any information you give on all your videos
Very thorough and informative, as always. About that style of slider, shaped like the Greek letter pi (only description I can think of). I gave up on them when undergrowth kept getting wedged in the pocket between the front tire and the rail where it protrudes forward, trapping the rig like an impaled pig. D-shaped (?) sliders like the RC4WD ZS0137 Gelande close off that gap to allow safe pivoting around small trees and stuff. Boatsides too, some of them. Of course, if you crawl in, like, the wide-open desert, none of this makes sense. :-)
Great minds think alike (lolz) - mine already has the VS4-10 bumper and the new C2X slim-profile sliders, too! I angled my rear shocks forward, and just managed to wedge a HH Crawlmaster Sport 13t behind the servo. They really don't leave much room for the motor! However, I haven't finished installing all the electronics yet... You may have convinced me to swap in my HH PP Stubby 2700/Mamba MicroX that I was saving for another project. Oh, almost forgot - I installed the Z-S1882 Trail Finder 2 Aluminum Side Body Posts, will be modding some screws for a quick release setup. The aluminum side posts have a crossmember connecting them, I like the additional strength over the plastic threaded posts. Also have a pair of the new RC4WD ARB Intensity LEDs that will likely be mounted on the bumper.
Weather Permitting??? 😳 Come to Arizona. 3 weeks of Fall just started! 50-60 degree highs, sunny and DRY everyday!! 👍👍 No changing Leaves though... I've been curious about this Rig since I first heard about it. Can't wait to see you work more of your Magic. 😉 Just saw the new Axial F-100... An important Laser Focused on THAT! 😊❤ Carmine ✈🚂🚙
Me and my gf had a little late night leftovers while I was watching some of your old vids and she forgot to take the easter eggs on the plastic plate out of the oven before she pre heated it........ still waited till I finished this video before I ran in to see what all the yelling was about.... priorities haha....

Awesome video as always my friend just got into the crawling/ trail trucks & been thinking of getting this rig i have the Endero Sandero and absolutely love it for Christmas i got my son an Axial SCX 10 II Jeep Cherokee should be a great rig too happy bashing bud.
You don't have to modify the upper front link on that conversion. If you cycle the suspension it only makes contact when you're at full stuff on both sides. So really it would only hit if you were to fully bottom out the front suspension from a big jump or something like that.
I would love to buy a spool from holmes hobbies to eliminate all of the slop in the wheels I just don’t know if the D 44 axles are the same internally and would accept it. Someone with these parts already help a brotha out!
I have a question... sell me this truck? Save me a shit load of trouble and time? Looking to enter the hobby with my son and I’ve been on the fence with what platform to start with for over a month. This truck is legit. Love it.
My friend just gave my son his c2x chassis and body set as a starting platform for him to join us on the trails as he wants to get into the scale/crawler scene (he's tired of bashers, lol) as he loves the look of the truck. I want to do the G2 shock hoop mod for him. Do you know if they will clear the complete bed? Curious being I saw you take the sides and top off, thanx. Keep up the fun, entertaining and helpful videos as me and my son really enjoy watching them together, thanx
I'm really interested to see where and how your going to mount a servo winch on a body with a front bumper servo mount. I kind have an idea on mine but it would really be nice to see how others implement them.

neglected to mention the wheels hit the shocks really bad when turning lock to lock with leaning the shock towers back. I found out after drilling holes.
You must have inspired Axial when it came to.that oddly bent rod similar to the one on the scx3. I gotta make that link for my linked tf2 with clocked motor. Wish there was a tutorial on how to make..
Hey aaaaahhhh Matt. Silly question. I've been waiting for a few months for the availability of the VS4-10 truck and I can't lie, I'm absolutely loving the paint job you did. Any chance when I finally get mine: I could cajole you to do a similar paint job on mine? Obviously, I'd pay. Wouldn't mind a little unique autograph of sorts on there. Something to brag about. Lemme know. Best regards, Matthew
I had been thinking about this truck since it came out, am wondering if you were to go brushed on this would you do anything different? Great Video, and cute cat.
Lookin good, as always. Has rc4wd improved the hardware they use any. I'd buy another right quick if i knew the hardware was improved. The hardware used to be of dubious quality.

Do you remember the length of the set screws you used to hold the body on ?
Maybe 20mm? They don’t need to be very long.
Would be great to see a braising video as I don’t think anyone has done a good one

I am assuming the 2" of travel you demonstrated with your 123 block is not maximum articulation?
Nope, it's not, but that said, I don't like excessive articulation.
Very cool video 💪💪👍👍
I was wondering do you think the 85 Toyota 4Runner body would work on a CX2 chassis

Trial and error my friend, trial and error.
Thank you for your time! ……. Is there any high clearance links I can purchase for this C2x
Not that I know of, sorry! Maybe check with RC4x4 Performance Stainless.
On the front shock mounts where you kicked them back, it the rearmost mounting hole that far down so the nut can clear the gear? Thanks.
Gosh, I'm sorry I won't be able to answer this, I sold the truck in the summer. But my guesstimate would be yes, that's why it had to be so low.
what are the wheels specs? what slw hubs do you have and did you use brake disk weights?

Did you have to use a bec with the motor and esc you used? I think it’s a bec what I’m asking about lol.
Did you drill out holes for the shock hoop placement?

I'd say it's better, yes. Haven't stripped one on this kit yet.
Awesome video 👍🏽
Can you tell me what beef patties you used? Maybe an item number? Do they go on the wheels or the diff?
On the wheel. I used the SLW version compatible with my wheels.
Great video! Do you know if a TF2 can be clocked when linked in the front. I attempted it but the motor can was hitting links. Thanks.
GMUMMY I haven’t tried it with a linked setup. 3 link, probably in the same way I’ve done here. 4 link, ehhhhhh, maybe not.
@@scalebuildersguild I know, didnt hurt to ask! I haven't seen anyone do it and I've searched a lot - bummer!
Matt. Good series. Thanks. Do you have any other Comp 2 trucks in your arsenal? Want to build one from scratch; and, in the planning mode.
I've done a bunch over the years, and have another on the way. I tend to cycle through the comp trucks pretty quickly, but the SR5 Toyota is still my all-time favorite.
I tried using a Mamba X and it wouldn't clear the interior because of the motor leads so i guess I'll be ordering the Micro X.
Hi, at 9:45, is the tonearm you edited the original one? How did you manage to fold it? Thanks in advance ;)
Tonearm? Do you mean link? I bent a new one using my tube bender.
Any steering mods? Can't wait to see the next video!

3mm grub screws 10mm or longer.

Can the motor be rolled down one more hole, or is that as far as it can go without clearance issues?
You haven’t done any videos on the SWB have you? Would be nice to see s video on making it class 0 comp ready!
Nope, SWB wasn't something I had much interest in. I've built on it before, but not since I really started taking YT seriously.
did the front tires hit the body after installing the new shock hoops, if so what did you do to fix that
Thanks for your comment. No... it didn't hit the front body, it just gave me better travel. Thanks for watching!
How did you set up your micro mamba and motor with castle link?
This is the new truck I'm intrested in. Not sure why.
Making a sorcca class 2 rig yet it has beef patties which are illegal in sorcca rules. So are.any of the bolt on weights for the beef tubes.
I was under the impression that wheel weights are allowed. So are knuckles. Bolt on weights are different.
Alright now what are we gonna do about the pan hard mount??
To save your body ream out the holes and glue in some top hats so the grub screws dont wear out the holes on the body
Are you going to notch the front of the truck
That crazy hypno cat. 🤣
Lookin good🤙
Would it be possible to clock the motor in a TRX4? If so, what would it take to accomplish that?
An entirely different transmission.
Those are good mods.
I'm not sure David came up with the grub-screw mod. I've been doing that mod roughly 6 or 7 years.

When are you going to Truggy the VS4 10 PRO?
Will the Micro Mamba X need a fan?
Ready for a run video meow.
What size grub screws were used
Anything over 16mm should be more than enough.

Snow tires on the running vid...👍
Watch that temp on the mamba micro x, specially with a smaller spur and 3300kv.
I did the math, this setup is actually slightly more reduction than stock. Not too worried, I won't be constantly at 100% throttle.
