- In this video I actually DID give you some tips to help you write a good description for Etsy since they're now using them in search placement, but there doesn't have to be anything tricky about it. If you're not good at writing descriptions, there's a way to do it that will make it pretty simple to make sure you get all the right info in.

Back in the Dark Ages when I was a baby seller :-), I remember being told that you should write your description as if there were no photos. Made sense then, and now.
That's an old selling tip that still is true.

You've helped me so much with finally understanding SEO and Etsy. I've been getting a few sales here and there, but realized my views are so low because I have so many general keywords and I was just stuffing them like a list in the description. I'm going through one by one and redoing all of my listings. Thanks!

I was quite dumb and just copied some description which has similar things and planning to change it later. Today I got very less visits..now i kind of wish to just get my old description back but I feel like when a part is the same on most articles it's also good since it looks more professional.
Thanks for breaking through all the hype! This is helping. I've known for a long time that I needed to update my descriptions. I wrote them when I was 15 years younger.
I keep vacillating over what info to include and what is just too much. It does remind me of being on the school newspaper. Description should be a triangle--facts first and then expand and clarify the further you get into the description so everything at the bottom isn't really necessary to understanding what the product is
Start by drawing them in, then hit them with the facts, then hit them with the rules.

I'm busted! I fast forwarded through the funeral program. 😆 I didn't know that the search engine looks for keywords in the entire description. I thought only the first few lines mattered. Good info to know.

Yes, that's always a good idea to use them anyway.
♡thanks for the value =) little random but I'm wondering if it matters what email you use setting up your Esty seller account. Like I'm currently setting up a seller account, and would like to have customers be able to reach out to me at a certain email address perhaps a business one, but I already have a normal Esty account, under one of my old email addresses, is this something I could change in the settings even though my login email is not that one I want customers to send to. I also don't know if I should create another Esty account, I think its against policy? Anyways thankyou!
I don't know if there's a place to put your email for customers, because it's better to keep your customers on Etsy so that your communications can be checked in case there's a dispute. You can have more than one Etsy account but you have to disclose all of your accounts in your About section if you have more than one.

I use "power" words which I read are "persuasive" like imagine. I know they aren't keywords so I had to add some keywords to my description.
Everything is a keyword!
hello sis. I sell on etsy. I have sold 2 of my merchandise. The first item was sold almost a month ago. But until now my money has not been entered in my personal account. I haven't even received a small deposit. Please enlighten me I really need it🙏
This is something that you'd have to contact Etsy about. If you know that your payment account is set up correctly, then they're the only ones who can answer this for you.
i am writing my own description with my own words , not copied and pasted and also i didn't just write keywords on top of description which i wrote in title rather i have crafted 2 sentences to include important keywords that were not included in title and in tags i have used some same and rest different long tail keywords. Am i going right ma'am?
It sounds fine, but if you just write the description to actually describe the item accurately you probably don't have to worry about the specifics of keywords etc. because they'll already be in the description.

Can't you just add a boatload of keywords in a separate paragraph after the description?
That looks dumb for the customer and it doesn’t help with context for the search engine. If you add the same keywords in but put them in regular descriptive sentences that make sense, it works a lot better.
