This is so crazy to me!! I am Canadian, going to a Canadian university and I'm currently in my fourth and final year of the BScN program. Our requirements for admission to nursing are way less like it seems so much easier to get in over here compared to the states and the price of tuition is sooo much cheaper here I am shocked! but anyways, I've watched your videos throughout your whole undergrad and I know you are such a hard-working and committed student. You deserve this and you absolutely will get into a nursing program, I hope its your ideal one! You will make an amazing nurse one day!

I'm an RN of 30 years and remember school like it was yesterday. You will go through such a variety of emotions that we ALL go through. There will be moments when you feel overwhelmed but trust we have ALL felt the same. There are groups on Facebook that are so very helpful with people all over the world going through the very same things. Several RUclips channels that will be helpful as well. One thing that could be helpful, especially since you are working and on your own, you might consider talking to you advisor about sitting for LPN boards after a year of RN school. It will totally help on your journey, and the money is a bit more than CNA so you may not need to work as much, using that extra time to study. Just a thought you might consider! Blessings 💙

Congrats girl!!! You'll do great things! I've been a nurse for about 2 years now. My school required us to be a CNA and have experience so we weren't blind sided at clinicals and knew sorta ishh what to expect.

I'm in my second year of nursing school and currently doing my Pediatric rotation. If everything goes right, I will graduate nursing school in May 2021. I earned my CNA license 5 years ago and it has helped me out so much during nursing school especially when it came to learning skills. Nursing school is freaking hard and you have to completely rewire your brain to think, study, and test a completely different way. However, just surround yourself with positive people and don't let negative nursing students get in your head. Being a CNA is hard too, there are many days that the bad times outweigh the good times, but it definitely helps you during nursing school and it will motivate you to be the type of nurse who cares about her CNA's and respect how much work they do. I honestly think that nursing school helped me understand who I really am and grow into myself. Good luck!

Why was I excited and nervous watching you submit the app? 😅
I went to grad school at the same school where I did my undergrad and only applied to that one school because I was so sure I was getting in. Our cohort was about a dozen students and maybe half of us made it through the program. (It wasn't nursing.) I don't remember the application essay being difficult to write but in general I find it difficult to write those types of essays because they're all about selling yourself as a good candidate and it ends up feeling odd to me. Not sure if anyone else feels that way about it or quite gets what I mean by it.

I wish a public university in Oregon had a nursing program, but I would have had to attend a private school and paid way more to get that education near me. There are some great programs in other states through, but yes they are so expensive 😂 So glad you love your program, hoping your surviving your work load & week!

The whole transcript portion is the same as PA school. I had them enter my transcripts my first year of applying and had 1 error it took forever to get them to fix, but luckily when I applied the second time the info was still there so I just had to add onto it. That was definitely the hardest application I had ever done. I had to have a glass of wine while writing my first draft of my personal statement because I couldn't relax enough to even get anything written. Then I had my friend help me edit it a few days later.

The HARDEST thing I've ever applied to was nursing school 100%! I'm in my last semester of my ABSN program and I wouldn't have changed this experience for the world. My biggest piece of advise for you and anyone else who's applying/thinking of applying to nursing school is to not be too hard on yourself. You don't have to get As on every exam or be the best at inserting IVs. I was definitely way too hard on myself during my first semester of the program and I wish someone would have told me to just do the best I can and be proud of the progress I'm making. I ended up re-taking a course due to the death of a family member which changed my graduation timeline, but re-taking the class ended up being THE BEST thing to have ever happened to me. I wish you the best of luck with applying to nursing school and if you ever have questions, please don't hesitate to reach out :)

Applying to nursing school in the US looks incredibly complicated and stressful. In Australia you apply to Uni straight out of school or even as a mature age student plus there either none or minimal prerequisites. It's a three year degree here and it's very uncommon to see any accelerated nursing degrees.

Honestly this is a great question! Not sure if it really matters at the end of the day because you have to pass the same test wherever you go, but I think the connections could be helpful and obviously the quality of the program will allow you to be more prepared and give you more opportunities :)

    • @katherinestrotman1162
      @katherinestrotman1162 4 года назад +2

@@KiaraMadisen There isn't a huge benefit, once you're in a hospital as nurse, it's the experience that matters and not the transcripts.
However, that being said, while being hired as a new grad nurse, some major hospital networks will be more willing to hire a nurse from certain schools because they know they have had a good education. Where I'm from, it was obvious that my school got a leg up in the hiring process because our school was known to be one of the better educations in the state.
This only matters though as a new grad...after that, experience from the unit will only matter :)

Just some tips if you want them, I just got into a nursing program here in Portland. Definitely try to get in as a volunteer at OHSU it looks great on a resume and it’s only once a week. It might seem silly now, but once your accepted into a program you have to confirm and do a bunch of immunizations. I would get a Hep B titer done, that way if it’s negative you have time to get the boosters which are required to be able to start the program.(At least the one I’m in is like that) Getting your CNA is amazing on your resume will get pushed forward in the application process. Good luck! I know this process is stressful. :)

She's not, but she does a lot of it at work, and her mom and dad were both english professors so she is picky & very on it 😂

why did you decide to get a bach degree and then apply to nursing school opposed to applying to nursing school after your first 2 years of undergrad?

There wasn’t a nursing program at my school, I didn’t want to leave my school bc I loved it so so much, & I wasn’t 100% sure if I wanted to be a nurse yet. I feel so much more prepared now that I have a bachelors behind me too ☺️

Question and advice: Have you ever gone to or contacted the human resources department of hospitals or nursing homes? Ask the hiring managers and persons in charge of nursing department where dose the hospitals Human Resources department want and like their nurses to graduate from and where dose the hospital want their future nurses they will hire get there nursing education from and what school/universities do they think are best to have a chance to be a nurse inside their hospital. Also why do they hire most of their nurses from a certain nursing program? Also ask what nursing school dose the hospital recommend you get educating in nursing from and go to that will give a better chance at being hired at their hospital because maybe a lot of hospitals might like hire nursing employees from same nursing programs that many of their nurses now they have working at their hospital might of graduate from the same nursing school. Also find out if there are any hospitals that have education tuition reimbursement program of your tuition you paid for nursing school. Let’s say you have contacted hospitals or nursing homes to see they have a program where they will pay for your nursing education if you agree to work for that hospital or nursing home after you graduate. Another thing is Have you thought about being a nurse for United States government like in the army, marines like that and to see if you can learn if they will pay for your education and you can be a nurse during wars and have the government pay for your nursing or you can be a nurse on military training bases where solders train and might get hurt. Just a thought of thing you can do. Remember nursing programs and university love promising how great they nursing program is but maybe find out where and what nursing programs and schools your future dream hospital like to hire from. Try dreaming backwards work backwards. Ask your self where and what company you want to be a nurse at then call them or email them to see where do they hire there nurses from and what nursing program/school they suggest you go to.
