Good to know. I really prefer the smaller layout of the S13 or Mayflash even. The T13/16 are too spread out for my fingers. Thank you so much for this review. I was literally on the order page ready to buy it and I'm glad you talked about the button spacing. I have an S16 with the closer spacings and I thought the R16 was going to be a bigger S16, so very disappointed to hear that the spacing is the same as the T series.

So disappointing to see that the spacing is pretty much the same as the T models, despite having smaller buttons... What were they thinking? There are many people with smaller hands that just wanted a bigger surface model with the smaller/closer spacing. I guess we'll have to keep using the S/G models.
That was my 1st thought also and ended up doing this review twice going from a negative because it wasn't a wide S To a positive that this is a new product that the box players are going to love and folks that never tried a box will love as well. When I looked at it that way I had a lot of fun with it And leaving hope for the S wide an S with no major changes just a wider base or the T base with an S pad inside The only issue is they're probably thinking folks will get confused by the T and S wide and maybe hurt T sales but I don't think so T and M Plus are my favorites so we'll see Thanks for watching subscribing and your comment
Yeah, I'm thinking the same. Ordered my R16, it's on the way and I'm kinda disappointed with the spacing. P12 has perfect button spacing but the size is not for me.

Yeah it's a tough one. The R16 is very compact and portable and so easy to customize both are nice to play on but I see where your coming from A lot of folks like the heavier base at events or in person and the audio passthrough is a really nice feature But the R16 with the wind engine or ghost switches and the o rings is almost silent when you play and really nice It's a tough decision Thanks for watching subscribing and your comment
Just here to say that even with the those button rings it's still hard to do those slide techniques you see on RUclips. The stem of buttons are high. It's possible but not as smooth as a leverless using standard buttons.
Compared to stock buttons I agree they do sit higher I tried to use the coins as some form of reference to a button A coin doesn't seem that talk but in situations like this they do sit higher than a standard button People will get used to it But I agree they do sit higher Same compared to the T or S they sit 2 coins higher which doesn't sound like much higher but it's a difference compared to the other models Thanks for watching subscribing and your comment
What about comfort comparing the T16 and the R16? I'm planning to buy one but I don't know which one has the most comfortable layout, taking in mind the increased height of buttons on the R16. Also noise, does the R16 case produce less sound than the T16 when using it?
@@gabrielst527 R16 is quieter than the T16 Comfort is hard to explain neither is better I prefer the T large caps A lot prefer the R spaced out and rings Everyone's hands are so different and play style different I try to give the paper test and the quarters to help show if you put a piece of paper on a table with coins and tap your fingers you'll get a clue if you'll like it or not But honestly there is no better pad just more options for everyone to find what they like Thanks for watching subscribing and your comment
It feels thinner and lighter for sure you will notice but not cheap in my opinion It's not half the size of T so feels similar just a little thinner Just the top last layer layer of acrylic is cut in half the rest of the body feels the same from what I can tell so far on the top you'll notice when you change the art If you just use it out the box it feels fine and sized and button spaced very similar to the T This is a nice alternative to a box style device Hope that helps Hard to explain without writing a paragraph paper in the comments lol I did a live stream with it last Sunday talking to the audience and talk more about it and playing with it that you can skip through about 13 minutes in and hear and see it more where I explain the pad throughout and compare live to other devices on camera Thanks for watching subscribing and your comment ruclips.net/user/liveQ6z1Ak5DNTE?si=fz3qxJbsa2jfraCr
There is only one problem and that is I don't see a link to order this Haute42 R16 controller. I have looked at each of the links you provided except for the Japanese. Please post the exact link that I need in order to order this controller 😅
Hi I put the links in the description. You have to use either of the 2 Aliexpress links. They haven't released it on their Amazon store yet. Great videos man. Really like the videos you do comparing the different Haute42s, I was able to narrow down my choices between the T16 and R16 just can't decide which one to go with. Do you have a personal recommendation between the two? Not sure how much a difference the button layout will make.
1st Thank You much appreciated!!! If I was live streaming I would explain and show the pads live so going to try and keep it short here. typing on laptop so here we go. 2nd If cost is not an issue then you should consider adding the Wind Engine switches with the T or R for about $90 total or $75 total for T or R alone. Also dont forget your adapter for PS5 or Xbox if you need it for about $40... Its simply about style and button height for T or R after that point like I showed in the video and the time lapse video today I would say comparing the T and R I prefer the T. The button height that's what I am used to at this point and prefer the lower travel to activate the button. But that's just me The layout is nice on both and basically the same button spacing apart and diameter round to me so no preference or any issues there. Box players will probably feel more familiar with the R and will have no issues and will notice its super light. The to a box player T will feel find and new a flat and more like a keyboard and I prefer that, that's just what I like as far as button height and travel. Box players have no issue with the T either and may like having a lower quicker travel to press the button. 3rd Check for coupons if your ordering off Aliexpress and there are old codes in the Haute42 discord in the general channel search for coupon or code or something like that or the announcements channel a couple dollars here or there possibly. Also the Aliexpress algorithm changes prices daily so add to cart and it might lower the price if it sits there for a couple hours to entice you to buy or a 1st time buyer it might instant sale so IDK... Also get the Ugreen USB C cable I put in the description (all my things are in the description with links also) off Amazon no matter what pad you order throw their stock cable to your phone as a charger cable... @@drjones694 1st thanks for the detailed response appreciate it. 2nd since cost isn't that much of an issue, I will take your suggestion and also order the Wind Engine switches so I can give them a try and I don't really need an adapter since I will be playing on PC. 3rd I think I will go with the T series since you mention it will feel more like a keyboard and since I'm already a big fan of mechanical keyboards, have 5 different mechanical keyboards, it will feel more natural to me. Lastly, thank you for the tip on checking out the discord for coupon codes and having it on the cart to see if the algorithm price changes, never thought of that! @@NoobSaibotVII not sure I understand your question But if you prefer Wasd format The Haute42 B16 or the ASI LvL wasd model would be best from my experience in that format You could get both and cover your large and small sizes Thanks for watching subscribing and your comment
@@drjones694 Thank you for the recommendations! I haven't heard of the ASI before, and it looks nice. But to clear up what I was asking, I just meant that since the buttons on the left side of the Haute controllers tend to follow the WASD format in regards to location (not actually being WASD keys like on the B16). I was wondering if remapping UP to the extra button above the left, down, and right buttons is viable to use in that format for games like platform fighters? Or, would the layout be too uncomfortable to play and getting an actual WASD layout would be a better choice?

@drjones694 ohhh well this got me thinking now..I was going with the R16 because of the button size..I also own the original hitbox and the buttons size is perfect but I'll surely think about the T also..thanks much yo...
The T and R in my opinion don't fly off at all MPlus neither The G do fly off after they break in sometimes If yours are flying off You can tear a tiny piece of paper and apply it to the T sign on the bottom of the keycaps and then plug in the switch It will wedge the paper and connect tighter and you can slip it back off at anytime if you change key caps colors later Hope that helps Thanks for watching subscribing and your comment
So in spacing The T and R are basically the same distance apart But the button surface is smaller in diameter on the R and slightly higher in height I like them both but I prefer the T but use the E all the time too So it's more do you want rings on your button edges just or just a full sized button hope that makes sense lol Thanks for watching subscribing and your comment

To a positive that this is a new product that the box players are going to love and folks that never tried a box will love as well. When I looked at it that way I had a lot of fun with it
And leaving hope for the S wide an S with no major changes just a wider base or the T base with an S pad inside
The only issue is they're probably thinking folks will get confused by the T and S wide and maybe hurt T sales but I don't think so
T and M Plus are my favorites so we'll see

Yeah, I'm thinking the same. Ordered my R16, it's on the way and I'm kinda disappointed with the spacing. P12 has perfect button spacing but the size is not for me.
Nice like a flat box style that's cool and way easier to carry than my box
It's definitely a nice new design in the line
My brother loves the button style so he liked the fact this is flatter or Flat Box style you could call it and easier to customize

That F500 Flat is huge! not sure why someone would want something that bulky, but more power to you.
Yeah it's a tough one. The R16 is very compact and portable and so easy to customize both are nice to play on but I see where your coming from
A lot of folks like the heavier base at events or in person and the audio passthrough is a really nice feature
But the R16 with the wind engine or ghost switches and the o rings is almost silent when you play and really nice
It's a tough decision
Thanks for watching subscribing and your comment
Just here to say that even with the those button rings it's still hard to do those slide techniques you see on RUclips. The stem of buttons are high. It's possible but not as smooth as a leverless using standard buttons.
Compared to stock buttons I agree they do sit higher
I tried to use the coins as some form of reference to a button
A coin doesn't seem that talk but in situations like this they do sit higher than a standard button
People will get used to it
But I agree they do sit higher
Same compared to the T or S they sit 2 coins higher which doesn't sound like much higher but it's a difference compared to the other models

What about comfort comparing the T16 and the R16? I'm planning to buy one but I don't know which one has the most comfortable layout, taking in mind the increased height of buttons on the R16.
Also noise, does the R16 case produce less sound than the T16 when using it?
@@gabrielst527 R16 is quieter than the T16
Comfort is hard to explain neither is better
I prefer the T large caps
A lot prefer the R spaced out and rings
Everyone's hands are so different and play style different
I try to give the paper test and the quarters to help show if you put a piece of paper on a table with coins and tap your fingers you'll get a clue if you'll like it or not
But honestly there is no better pad just more options for everyone to find what they like

What do you think of the thinner profile? Does it make it feel cheaper/less substantial than the other Haute models?
It feels thinner and lighter for sure
you will notice but not cheap in my opinion
It's not half the size of T so feels similar just a little thinner
Just the top last layer layer of acrylic is cut in half the rest of the body feels the same from what I can tell so far on the top you'll notice when you change the art
If you just use it out the box it feels fine and sized and button spaced very similar to the T
This is a nice alternative to a box style device
Hope that helps
Hard to explain without writing a paragraph paper in the comments lol
I did a live stream with it last Sunday talking to the audience and talk more about it and playing with it
that you can skip through about 13 minutes in and hear and see it more where I explain the pad throughout and compare live to other devices on camera

Its simply about style and button height for T or R after that point like I showed in the video and the time lapse video today I would say comparing the T and R
I prefer the T. The button height that's what I am used to at this point and prefer the lower travel to activate the button. But that's just me
The layout is nice on both and basically the same button spacing apart and diameter round to me so no preference or any issues there.
Sorry for long message typing on laptop lol
Cant wait to hear what you decided to get

Keep up the really good work on releasing those helpful videos!
@@kaitoshiragawa4437 no problem
1 more point.... lol
since cost is not an issue...
and since you said you like the T...
Get the M Plus and the Wind Engine switches should be about $135 together when I check it today
It is the upgrade to the T style
More decisions for you I know
but T or M Plus is what your looking at
now its only about cost decisions and how much you plan to customize the art T is better for art you will see on the discord art channel
They both are great I use both daily but in this style
The M Plus 12 or 16 with the UGreen USB cable is nicer and better built its metal
if cost is not an issue
Thanks again
The paper test is tight. Great video
Thank you!! Glad it helped. I try to be practical as I can.

Which Haute42 product would you recommend that can be used in a WASD format and the normal hitbox format (obviously with some profile changes)? I am mostly asking about comfort of button placement/spacing/button size in which WASD would be achievable in the most comfortable way.
@@NoobSaibotVII not sure I understand your question
But if you prefer
Wasd format
The Haute42 B16 or the ASI LvL wasd model would be best from my experience in that format
You could get both and cover your large and small sizes
Thanks for watching subscribing and your comment
@@drjones694 Thank you for the recommendations! I haven't heard of the ASI before, and it looks nice.
But to clear up what I was asking, I just meant that since the buttons on the left side of the Haute controllers tend to follow the WASD format in regards to location (not actually being WASD keys like on the B16). I was wondering if remapping UP to the extra button above the left, down, and right buttons is viable to use in that format for games like platform fighters? Or, would the layout be too uncomfortable to play and getting an actual WASD layout would be a better choice?
@@NoobSaibotVII makes sense the top left button is a second up button out the box and will give you the style your asking for so you can play both styles on all pads from Haute42 that are 13 or more buttons

Would you say this is good for small hands? But the spacing is as wide as bigger button size models? What would you choose
For small hands in this brand would be
the S13/ S16 model or if you like the mechanical keyboard feel and taller button height the G13 / G16
The frame is small though I show it in the comparison section of this video
The R buttons are technically small but wider apart that the S
Hope that helps

In terms of ergonmics which would you choose between the T and the R ? Also which are you less likely to miss inputs with ?
The buttons are the same space apart
So ergonomics is a tough one
The T keys are by 2 quarters so they are lower and easier to press in my opinion
I use both but
I personally prefer the T I like the lower wider keys
Hard to explain but hope that helps

So the r16 has the same button spacing as the t16? My small hands gets tired after a while on the t16 so I wanted something where the buttons are closer
@@yeyeye7316 makes sense
So here's some suggestions brain dumo so bare with me..
The S is what you want smaller and tighter button spacing
But...
The frame is small it's as wide as the T is tall
Check the S vs M vs T video for visuals
I actually use it with a Tupperware top underneath to it fits on my lap
So it's a great option and priced great but you will need something under to play on your lap
There is the ASI LvL that is exactly what you want also
The spacing is what you want and body is what you want
You would replace the large caps with small caps all across and you'd be set
But...
The switches are high like the G
Which you might like if you like the R
So not a negative just something to think about
Hope that makes sense and helps

@@drjones694 appreciate the reply. how about the duel pad? is the button spacing similar to the s16?
@@yeyeye7316 the Duelpad is a great option too if you want a tighter T
The ASI LvL feels more like you have a G and want a bigger base
The Duelpad A16 and ASI LvL are what your looking for it's more knowing which style you like in button height lower or higher
And the ASL is slightly tighter all around too than the Duelpad
More decisions lol
But those are the 2 you want if you want a larger base

The S16 is so nice but so small... facts
perfect for travel and etc but for lap and long play my hands are to big

Haute42 M Plus / T / R are same body size and button spacing

2nd So sounds like the cost is not an issue. In that case I prefer the M Plus. The build quality is nice it's a great buy less customization options, but very nice product and with the Wind Engine switches 20 pack really nice for about $135 total.
if cost is an issue then your considering the Wind Engine switches with the T or R for about $90 total or $75 for T or R alone.
Its simply about style and button height for T or R after that point like I showed in the video and the time lapse video

Box players will probably like the R because it will feel more familiar
Then again for the price of 1 M Plus $120... you could basically get both the R and T $150 for a little more the cost of 1 M Plus about so lol ...
To many decisions...

Do the button caps pop off easily while playing? I'm considering T16 or R16.
The T and R in my opinion don't fly off at all MPlus neither
The G do fly off after they break in sometimes
If yours are flying off
You can tear a tiny piece of paper and apply it to the T sign on the bottom of the keycaps and then plug in the switch
It will wedge the paper and connect tighter and you can slip it back off at anytime if you change key caps colors later
Hope that helps

Button size wise do you prefer the R or the T? i feel like the R might be nice since buttons are closer together but idk if theyll feel too small
So in spacing
The T and R are basically the same distance apart
But the button surface is smaller in diameter on the R and slightly higher in height
I like them both but I prefer the T but use the E all the time too
So it's more do you want rings on your button edges just or just a full sized button hope that makes sense lol
Thanks for watching subscribing and your comment
@@drjones694 that does make sense. What difference does the rims make in terms of feel or execution if any? do you notice any miss inputs or anything with the R or quality issues?
@@I3asyl no missed inputs on either for me
I just prefer the T button height and full round buttons
I also wear a XXXL riding glove so long fingers
I'm honestly in a weird space with big hands
My brother and nephew came over
1 preferred the R16 and other Duelpad A16
So it's your style
For me I don't use the rings to slide or anything and prefer the T full button less ring style over the ring with the smaller buttons
So when you own them you will adjust to what you own with no issues
A lot to write lol
But if you catch me on a Tuesday Thursday live stream I can show on camera
Is the spacing of buttons and rims compared to the mayflash hitbox the same? I kinda missed your usb dongle test on the box😅

Can you do slide on t16? I bought r16 as my first leverless to learn fighting game since it look like a hitbox, been trying to do the slide but my finger keep getting caught between the gap probably due to the button height sticking out more than a normal sanwa button?
You can slide on the T / S / M / M Plus
Best reference is, if you look at the rims on the R you have
Thats how high the other pads caps are
The G and R seem to be in the same higher button style family I have a G on order just havent arrived yet
