Just got mine with the Wind Engine switches. Very nice. I had a Kitsune before with tactile switches, I enjoy using both honestly. But it's easier to do perfect inputs on linear switches so I'll be using U16 for Mishima characters in Tekken :D

I thought the smaller buttons than T16 would make the buttons closer to each other, but NO. The center of the buttons are exactly as the T16, they just make the button smaller.

Awesome video, I'm currently binging a lot of your reviews atm lol! Can I ask where the Razer Kitsune sits on your bumpy to smooth slidetest rating? Thanks :)
Thanks, hope you’re enjoying the binge lol 🙏 in my original M Plus review I said Kitsune was better for sliding than the M Plus but after further testing I think the M Plus edges it. It’s at least close enough that some might prefer the Kitsune and others the M. It’s very easy on both controllers.
@@VidVayder Thanks for the quick reply, your input is really helpful as a reference point since I currently own the Kitsune. I'm debating whether to pick up an M16 Plus during Black Friday. Do you find the extra buttons on the M16 useful or more of a gimmick? I'm mostly happy with the Kitsune, though I’d like to adjust the spring weight if that’s possible. Decisions, decisions!
@@calvin3941 Personally, the extra buttons don't make a big difference to me on the M Plus when I play SF. There's a lot of potential but at the end of the day, it's all down to conditioning/training. Like if I used one of the extra buttons for drive impact on SF6, I would have to take the time to unlearn how I currently use it and rewire my brain to do something else on reaction. That time can be spent getting better on my current button mapping. I'm basically saying whatever you choose to do, it comes down to how hard you train. Afterall there are crazy players out here using a PS4 or PS2 pad and killing it. However, I've recently reviewed a pad called the Varmilo FK2 and on that controller, the extra button does make a difference to me because it feels easier to reach, so I made the decision to rewire my brain, but it will still take training. The advantage I do get from using the M Plus over the Kitsune is the choice I get from switches. The Wind Engines are really easy to buy and they make the M Plus feel and sound amazing in my opinion. I can't go back to Kitsune after using this combination. If you're happy with Kitsune and you play well on it, I would advise you to stick to what you have. But if you got a bit of money to spare and want to experiment, the M Plus is certainly not a bad option to try.
@@VidVayder Sorry for the late reply! That’s makes a lot of sense. I’ve since watched your Varmilo FK2 video, and I see what you mean about the button placement. I’m tempted to buy both to compare, as it’s hard to decide otherwise. I also found out that the Kitsune is hot-swappable, did you ever try using Wind Engine switches in it? That seems like a sensible option for me since I enjoy the Kitsune, but I do find the buttons a bit heavy. On a side note, it would be awesome to see a tier list video comparing all the leverless controllers you’ve reviewed. I’d love to know which one is your favorite! Thanks again for your help! :)
I haven’t tried using Wind Engines on the Kitsune yet, I recall that I had an issue with modding the Kitsune and will get back to you on that. The tier list video is something I have been thinking about 100%!!! But I will have to see where I can fit it in my schedule 👊
Yes. This isn’t a wireless controller. It connects via USB cable only. The USB-C socket is for connection and the USBA is an EXT port only for authentication devices like the Booter 5 for PS5 or Brook XB3 for Series X. Join the discord if you’re uncertain what all this means and we can help you there.
At this point in time, no. You would have to acquire the R16 top plate that has see through rims. If you message Haute42 on Aliexpress they MIGHT sell it to you separately, but don't be offended if they say no because I think the separate top plates are reserved for people who have faulty units etc. The other option is to outright buy the R16 and swap the rims around. You would end up with an R16 with black rims though. Not entirely a bad thing depending on your preference :)
Hello! I haven’t made a guide but here is what you should do: 1. Plug in the Booter 5 to the EXT port. 2. Hold triangle on the controller and plug the controller into your PS5. 3. On the top right of the screen it should show PS5:AS. You might have to wait a few minutes for the AS to show. If this doesn’t work, update to the latest firmware. You can go to Haute42’s official website and they will link you the file. Or join us on Discord (link in description) and we can help you there.

4:40 - you can go to a local graphic tee that does screenprinting and ask them if you can get a custom screenprint on the paper! unlike printers, screenprinting rigs often require alignment tests on pieces of paper, so it'd be trivial since that's already something they do normally
The printing place I went to does mugs, balloons, cushions and all sorts. They're the ones that told me it wouldn't work, although... I'm not sure if they can do t-shirts, so I can't confirm if they had a screenprinting rig. The next issue beyond alignment would be the ultra gloss on the paper. Someone in the community has tried printing on it with a home printer and it didn't come out very well. So the challenge here is to find a place that can do screenprinting and also deal with the ultra gloss. Quite a hurdle! I was really hoping that these papers would make graphic printing a breeze, and although it isn't the case this time around I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Haute42 will release some matte inserts or something. That would be great for printing AND art tools!
Today I was researching cause I wanted to buy the M model, and this seems to have the same functionality but cheaper, however I really want to be able to slide mi fingers, I incorporate slide motions in my gameplay, would you recommend the M series before this one?
For a slide player defo go for the M Plus or the T (the T is not far behind for sliding from the M). You can slide on the U, but you should probably use the joint of your finger and it's nicer if you stack all the papers. That comes with it's own disadvantages though (the jump button might feel annoying, since your thumb will hit the rim if you stack the papers). If you don't stack the papers you will probably feel some fatigue on your fingers from sliding.
thanks a ton for this review! I'm really thinking about nuying one for myself, just a bit worried that the 16 buttons might be too much for me or get in the way. How have you found them? Would it be a big jump for someone who's only played with a standard 12 layout?
Thanks for watching! I'm a fan of 12 button layouts too, I rarely use the extra 4 buttons myself. Don't forget that you can disable the ones that are getting in the way (mostly the ones next to the jump button). Having said that, it could be useful to have them for the future in case you find yourself at a plateu with 12 buttons and decide that maybe changing up your game with an extra button would help? I don't know if you play SF6, but I myself have been experimenting with placing the drive parry below the LK and next to jump. At the end of the day, any changes you make will require you to adjust for a time, and you will eventually adjust but it takes work (and getting bodied loads) before you get back to your stride again lol. Now having said all that, there is a U12, without the additional buttons :)
@@VidVayder I'm currently climbing through diamond on SF6 and I was thinking of getting the U16 version exactly because of what you said: I drive parry manually by pressing MP and MK so I thought that maybe having a button to macro it to could be helpful. It just seems a bit overwhelming to have so many buttons, wish there was a compromise between the standard 12 and 16 (maybe just 14 buttons would be nice?). Anyways, more and more ppl seem to be recommending me the 16 version, so I think I'll get that one and if I don't like it I always have my standard 12 button one!
@ilypo good luck bro. Try to remember there are mad lads out there winning tournaments on pads with four face buttons. If they can get used to that, surely the rest of us plebs can rewire and learn a new setup too 💪
I’ve ordered one of these as well as a set of wind engine switches too because I’m an ASMR slut… on another video someone mentioned that they do not recommend pulling out the stock switches with the provided switch puller due to it ruining the soldering joints on a few of their controllers, and instead recommended unscrewing the enclosure and pulling them out by hand. I’ve seen you use a switch puller across multiple Haute42 controllers in your reviews now, do you think this person could be right, or should the switch puller be fine if used correctly? I’m worried about breaking my u16 as soon as it arrives because I’ve had terrible controller luck this year 😂
Haha well the Wind Engines should please you aurally! I have never taken switches out by hand like that but I have also heard it’s much easier. I wouldn’t recommend using the switch puller provided in the box because it requires a particular technique, but it will still hurt and if you’re not careful you can scratch/damage your switches (I have). If you want to do it with a puller check out the one I have linked and use in the video by Wuque studio. It’s only $10 on Aliexpress, but around $25 on Amazon. If you absolutely must use the one Haute42 provides in the box, I recommend putting your index finger in the gap and clenching the prongs with your thumb and middle finger. Your hand should look like a fist. Squeeze the switches tight and pull.
@Puriku5556 I love the M16+ feeling (I don’t have smaller M16) but I put Wind Engine switches on it. The travel when pressing the button feels quicker on the M+ compared to R series, because the caps hit the plate earlier on the inside. Hard to explain, basically it feels like I don’t have to push the button very far. Whichever you go for I recommend you change the switches to Wind Engine. It makes both controllers better.
Sticks are the ones that hurt me :( Do you have recommendations for pads? I've narrowed it down to the Victrix BFG or Razer Raion but I've heard mixed things for both.
I’ve been using the wired Xbox version of the 8BitDo M30. It’s heavily inspired by the old Sega Saturn pad. I really like it, but some folks don’t like the smaller top three face buttons. I haven’t had a problem doing throws, drive rush, or Drive impacts despite that mismatched size. The d-pad is great if you liked the Saturn or Genesis / Megadrive d-pad… (the floating disc style).
@@SaltyAdvisor The smaller six button Saturn pad is one of my favourites. Played a lot of fighting games on that back in the day. Does the 9ButDo M30 work on the PS5 or is there a PS5 version?
@@VidVayder great question. I play on PC mostly and my Series X (living room), so the Xbox version of the 8BitDo M30 made sense for me. Unfortunately, I don't think 8BitDo makes any peripherals of any kind for the PS5, which is a missed opportunity. Maybe it's some sort of licensing thing. Not sure. Currently they only make stuff for the Switch, Xbox, and PC... as well as a few retro consoles. You'd be stuck having to use a Brooks adapter or something similar to use it for the PS5. That PDP Victrix Pro BFG looks pretty appealing, but I can't get past the price. I just refuse to pay $180 for a pad controller. A friend of mine uses the Hori Fighting Commander OCTA, he mostly likes it, but did note that the face buttons are super sensitive, since they are mechanical switches, so that'd be an adjustment.
Imagine the haute42 models 5 years from now. It’ll give you a massage while you lose 10 in a row on ranked

If they can get used to that, surely the rest of us plebs can rewire and learn a new setup too 💪
May I know the name of your red type c cable?
I am not sure where you can buy these. My one was packed in with Tikitaka controllers.
Where did you get the clear rims?
I got the clear rim from my R16.

what keyboard is that? 🤔
The keyboard I'm using is the Apple Magic Keyboard with Touch ID.
This looks a bit nicer than the rest. Ngl.
Man of culture perhaps?
Which one do you prefer more compare with the r16 black and u16 ?
Oh this is hard… R16 Black for how it feels, U16 for looks.
@VidVayder Ty for reply how about
the M16 and r16 black feeling?
@Puriku5556 I love the M16+ feeling (I don’t have smaller M16) but I put Wind Engine switches on it. The travel when pressing the button feels quicker on the M+ compared to R series, because the caps hit the plate earlier on the inside. Hard to explain, basically it feels like I don’t have to push the button very far.
Whichever you go for I recommend you change the switches to Wind Engine. It makes both controllers better.
Ty so much love you content ❤️❤️
@Puriku5556 you’re welcome and I appreciate the support brother 👊
Sad these hitboxes look so good, but they hurt my hands when using them 😢 so I gotta stick with pad
Sticks are the ones that hurt me :( Do you have recommendations for pads? I've narrowed it down to the Victrix BFG or Razer Raion but I've heard mixed things for both.
@VidVayder I usually buy D Pads from Amazon. I'm on PC, so I buy controllers that have Marco buttons for fighting games.

Why do they have to cram all the buttons in the center like this? leave a few cm of space between the direction and attack buttons please?
My friend, you need a split layout :) Check out the Tikitaka review on my channel, and an upcoming one that I will review called the Duelpad Zen.
