I’ll be donating a portion of the proceeds to the National Museum of African American Music (nmaam.org) which is slated to open in Nashville this fall. They place an emphasis on youth music education, celebrating the central role African Americans have played in creating the American soundtrack.
Many thanks to Gary Paczosa, Bella Mazzola, and Jeff Picker for making this possible.

Whoever the sound engineer was should be feeling really good about their work - and of course it's always easier to make an excellent musician sound like it, but the sound on this is stunningly good.
Ditto. This is the best sounding streaming concert I've heard this entire S.I.P. !!! I think it's superior to the MP3 download of this album.
I bought the CD to get the very best sound quality and it's excellent, but this is better. Particularly noticeable on "Little Satchel"
Truth!
She mentions the sound engineer near the end of the show. It's Gary Paczosa who's a Grammy winning engineer and producer who has worked with people such as Alison Krauss and Dolly Parton. I would say he's pretty qualified. ☺️
@@45067daddymac 33:51 Gary on the scene.
carrying the torch for Joni for sure but with her signature touch. I wish my boomer peers would stop complaining about how music died when they graduated high school and do a little digging. forget radio. that source is what died, not music itself.
I'm happy to see this post. I feel the same way and grew up with Joni. This woman as well as many artists are over the top and a breath of fresh air. There is a lot of good music out there. Quite a bit on RUclips. Check out Scott Mulvahill, Chris Thile, The Other Favorites, I'm With Her(Sarah along with Sara Watkins of Nickel Creek and Aiofe O"Donovan, Punch Brothers and Tiny Desk Concerts...
Boomer here...I discovered Sarah (and the others from I'm With Her) a couple of years ago, and I concur with your comment. There are still great new artists out there, but you rarely hear them on the radio. I'm stoked to be going to Sarah's Polaroid Lover's show tomorrow!! 5-23-2024 in Houston.
Closer to Shawn Colvin than Joni Mitchell.
A rare combination of talent, beauty, scholarship, technical perfection, smarts, and heart.
And excellent sound engineer
nobody else said it better
You can say that again... and again... and again>
Let's all say it together?
And a spoonfull of punk rock.
When women came onto the rock and folk scene in the 70’s, they were a huge and important part of my musical upbringing. Bonnie Raitt, Emmy Lou Harris, Linda Ronstadt, Joni Mitchell. THIS is what you remind me of.
THIS is what we need more of these days.
BRAVO, and please keep up the good work!! Beautiful!
Rikki Lee
and Carly Simon.
@@ronsmith1364 Yes! Thank you.
Don't forget Fanny.
And more recently, Norah Jones
This little performance just exemplifies what I like about Sarah Jarosz. She doesn't write just one type of song. She doesn't just play one type of tune. Her phrasing changes. Her playing shows she has listens to a lot of difft music but she never copies it. Some people I love but I can only listen to for an hour or so because their style is limited, or their songwriting only covers a narrow range of life. Not her. Her playing and singing and songwriting is broad enough I can listen for a LONG time and it's never cloying.
All true, but she didn't write this song. She covers it like she did, though, so it's all good.
You can just feel how personal these songs are to Sarah. This 68 YO grandmother loves them all!
I love music like this that is sparsely done and not overproduced. Sarah Jarosz is a national treasure.
she is!
Congratulations to your „best americana album“ grammy. You deserve it. Americana Queen!
I thought Album of the Year period.. :)
NPR aired a episode of her discussing her most recent album and relocating from NY to TN during the pandemic. Her intellectual conversation and song "Up In The Clouds" brought me here🙂 I'm now officially a fan
Why am I not discovering Sarah until 2020? Oh well, something good has come out of this quarantine after all.
I found her on ACL when she was 18 with Steve Martin. She was amazing. ruclips.net/video/Z6-2i6uGV_0/видео.html Check out her work with Im With Her.... :)
Better late than never
Me too Steven a real change in direction for me but an amazing performer I hope to see play live in the uk.
Just discovered her this week, end of May 2021. Boy, I'm so glad I did. Feel like I've stumbled upon something really, really special! Hope so much she tours the UK!
Folk/folk rock is the apex of the singer-songwriter and this is a prime example of what that is. She is amazing in a world of music that seems to have no direction at all. Joni Mitchell, David Crosby, Neil Young, Graham Nash, Jackson Browne, Peter McGuinn just to name a few from the late sixties and early seventies that paved the way for artist’s like Sarah and her talents to be realized. Please keep this going Sarah you are needed today.
Sitting on my porch in Wimberley watching the hummingbirds listening to this.. xoxoxoxoxoxoxo I am sooo lucky!!!
We are so lucky! Sarah is treasure.
hello from Rolling Oaks! Used to jam with Sarah, Mike Bond, etc at Charlies years back
I'm jealous. I miss Wimberely, TX. Beautiful town and area.
Sarah Jaroz has the most beautiful voice in the world.
in the world????? ummm... that's a bit of stretch.
@@docmarc36 and maybe even Texas!
I love the pickin'
I love Sarah but nobody's voice beats Allison Krauss. Now Sarah is a master musician a great song writer and Allison May not be as prolific a songwriter but she's also a master bluegrass violinist as well. But allison's voice is the voice of angels. She's won many many awards and is grateful for her time, but now it's time for Sarah to shine.
Sarah Jarosz beams an inner beauty through her voice. She's immersed. All musicians have to connect to the feeling of the song to get to the next level, but Sarah seems to sink into being one with the music.
My wife Kathy and I were mesmerized by your talent tonight, I wish you could have heard us clapping for you. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
A few nights ago I was in a dark place and listening to something familiar and afterward a 2017 Shrewsbury video auto played - the volume was much louder because it was mixed properly and the one I was listening to before wasn't - When it started i urgently went to turn the volume down because it was late, but by the time i could find my wireless mouse it was too late and she started to sing - it was really loud but energizing - i put the thing on repeat and have listened to it for three days - now its time to check out this - i recognize a few of the songs from skimming through this quickly. Amazing the power of music and its properties with regard to delivering one from the dark places in life...
John Leventhal is a stone cold musical genius. He continues to write play and produce some of the finest acoustic music ever recorded. If you enjoyed this - check out his work with Rosanne Cash, Patty Larkin, Shawn Colvin, Marc Cohn ...
He definitely deserves props for his abilities.
Echoes of Joni... paints pictures with her words. All we need to hear is your beautiful voice and your guitar :)
Brilliant! We went so see Sarah with 'I'm With Her' at The Union Chapel over here in London town. Ace! If you get the chance, go see her live!
Very cool Sarah. You always amaze me. Big fan of yours.
I'm mainly a jazz and r&b bass player and I found Sarah Jarosz through some random podcast. Fell asleep listening to it and can't recall what was said but the next day I bought the vinyl record. It's one of the best sounding records that I own. Her voice is the definition of purity.

For what it's worth, this is about the best live sound I've ever heard from this sort of situation. Thanks, Gary Paczosa!
This is the exact same setup Gary used for the album, with the same km54 mic's on the bouzouki, but with a new vocal mic, and not the Blue Bottle from the album, recorded in the same studio as the record with the same preamps, so it's pretty good alright. Gary rocks! :)
I agree. Nothing harsh whatsoever. I played this is my truck on 5,000 sound system and it is just amazing! Pure and Clean!
Yeah, whoever oversaw the recording of this needs an award, or at least somebody needs to buy him a beer. Absolutely stellar job!
Thanks, Sarah and Jeff! 'The Way You Look Tonight' was composed by Jerome Kern with lyrics by Dorothy Field, for the movie 'Swing Time.' Sung by Fred Astaire, it won 'Best Original Song' Oscar in 1936.
I don't care, I'm saying it. She is so lovely! Makes a lonely old guy hope he could find love again. I don't know why.
I could listen to Sarah Jarosz forever and a day. ❤️🙏🏼
You don't ⁉️🙏😂❤
Just discovered Sarah Jarosz and I am an instant fan. Anything and anyone associated with John Leventhol deserves attention! Kudos also to whoever engineered this concert. The sound is superb!
Sarah, I'm so happy to find out your album won a Grammy award. You are so beautiful a singer
and a wonderful, peaceful and positve presence in the world of music. Congratulations from Canada.
Sarah your music fills peoples hearts and souls whenever and wherever you play ... Thanks to You and everyone involved ...
So glad I found you. I'm a 72 yo dude in TX. I feel right at home listening to you. xxoo.
Beautiful Soul.
Insightful And Strong...
Two incredible musicians no autotune, no anything just two people who are fantastic because of their devotion to their craft.
yay for the 2 Grammy noms for this album.
Good gravy, Eve is so enchanting.
Sarah the Band are the Best !!!
Jim
Canada
This is songwriting where decades shine through ....not just eclectic, but an honest old soul...
Agreed, one of the best recordings I have heard on RUclips. Of course the wonderful playing/singing doesn't hurt. She is just hauntingly great!
CONGRATS on the 2 Grammy nods for World On The Ground! xo
And she won :-)
I first saw Sarah on 3/19/2012 after hearing her on Mountain Stage and new right away I was watching a legend in the making. I can think of no other musician that matches her talent. She's all I listen to. Over and over and over.
Your music heals me. She helps me through the day and through the night.
My sentiments exactly, Hans.
Perhaps I’m a late bloomer, but I’ve just now discovered your music. This video just popped up. And how lucky that was, because I enjoyed every single one of your songs. Hope to hear many more. You are a very talented woman!
and she just won another Grammy! :)
Wrr
I love her intentónally uncomplicated style it wears beautiful ly on her; I cant wait to hear and see her more!!
I'm not weeping, you are 😭😭😭😭 this is some of the best music out there in my opinion. Sarah Jarosz sets a standard with her style and I love it!!!!!!!!
Sarah, you have a voice that I hope the Angels use.
Many thanks beautiful songs by a beautiful lady.😉
Wish there were more song writers like you Sarah! Such rich, real lyrics. Hope to see you live soon! God bless you.
I know.. she blows all those pop stars away.
You got the right beauty in your voice Sarah! And the right D18 too. I was blown away by you singin'Carey.. I loved that song long time before you were born. Thanks!
Beautiful Talent, your neighbor from SanMarcos❣️🌟❣️
Hi from Wimberley.. :)
This sounds so good! What an amazing album.
Your octave sounds stunning. Wonderful music. Thanks so much for this evening.
I'm totally addicted to Sarah and cant get enough of her solo work and the amazing I'm With Her. Aoife and Sara on their own are mesmerising, together with Sarah they are exquisite. I wish Sarah and I'm With Her would tour Australia again. I saw them at Bluesfest and they have been with me ever since. Thank you for the gift of music you share with us.
I know.. been a fan since 2009... sooooo much talent. :)
the very best music to listen to while traveling, be it car or airplane. Mesmerizing and soothing. Beautiful.
What a gift! Your music, musicianship, voice and spirit are so uplifting in the time of fear and doubt! Thanks. Now I’m off to buy the album!
Love your music, Sarah. You're an extremely gifted songwriter and musician, with the voice of an angel! Thank you for being YOU!
When you say "Thank you" after each song, I pretend that you hear by heart clapping loudly as I love every moment with you. Just learned about you a month ago and am so in awe of your talent. You are timeless.
She always soothes my soul. 💕💕💕
Sarah Jarosz...the great music finding in my life recently....congratulations for the the beautiful songs
Number 7 album out this January! New song awesome! Jealous Moon... love!!
Staggeringly good vocals and excellent songwriting. The engineer on this set also deserves a hearty round of applause
Just awesome. !!!
Flawless sound and production. A totally amazing performance by the superbly talented Sarah. Thank you.
Such a terrific song, full of passion and honesty. Love every version I’ve heard her do.
Ah, the old Neumann km54 vertically spaced pair. It reeks of like Gary Paczosa. Love it!
This is excellent in every way; why doesn’t it have 1 million+ views?
Keep viewing
As Steve Boyle pleads, "*Please* put this session out on CD or download!" so I appreciatively AGREE!!!
ANOTHER GEM...we've been spoilt by Sarah and Geoff during these last few months - what a TREAT on a cold rainy winters day in NZ....just BEAUTIFUL SISTER- I'll say it again I LOVE this raw unedited versions - not many can do this like you can..XXOOXX why was this a month ago and I'm just seeing it.??
Discovered the song Johnny through Steve Hoffman Forums a few months ago and it instantly clicked. Then listened to the rest of the album, which I love and now I've found this live stream. Just blown away. Her songs have a Joni Mitchell / Neil Young type quality to them, incredible melodies to accompany the lyrics, small mysterious stories, that take you away to another world. This is the real deal!
This guy just posted all these videos from her studio show with full band.. great clips.. John Leventhal in the band too. ruclips.net/channel/UCe_O4yxxBk829vX6Ji2e4Dw
The way you pick those strings is incredible. ..live music is the best!
I'm laughing with pure joy, crying with grace and gratitude... and congratulating myself for having discovered Sarah 10 years ago at NEC in Boston...
Love your music Sarah! You cover Dylan songs so well that you should consider a project of all Dylan covers! Like Tim O'Brien did with Red on Blonde. Jarosz Does Dylan.
Seriously! Ring Them Bells done by Sarah is one of my absolute favorite song ever.

While the older generation raves about Joni Mitchell and Bonnie Raitt, I'll rave about you, Sarah. Your song writing, singing and playing are unmatched. 😃
Don't worry, some in the older generation that treasure Joni are following Sarah. And wishing she was as prominent in the younger generation as Joni was for her generation years ago....It's only by luck I'm even aware of her.
You and your music have come to me on a very difficult day. As always you carry me to a better place and help me to be a better person. Thank you Sarah Jarosz!! Lovely performance!
Thank you Sarah, your music takes me through difficult pancemic times! Never stopp doing your thing, it's just what the world needs right now and also after these crazy times.
I love her bluegrass singing!
Songwriting is incredible. She has a bright future.
So happy she won the Grammy!
I've heard them all from the 60's to now. This woman is the best , her voice is beyond expressive. Better than Mitchell's and with all the range and tone. A real master.
Soul soothing.
So glad Sarah is sharing her gifts with all of us. Her songs just capture me.
Very moving to note that in the opening words you seem nervous. What a great artist and what great music !!.
These songs are so perfect. And that voice! 😊
Sarah you are just getting better and better!
she has another live set tonight!
Thanks for a Wonderful Evening of the Best Entertainment Sarah and Jeff and staff!
Well I thought I’d heard it all with Eva Cassidy but this is truly beautiful music by a supremely talented lady.
If you return to England I would have to get the ticket.
She's awesome! I can't wait to see her again at the Heights Theater in Houston.
I'm grateful to have first heard your music almost a decade ago. It really changed me and my taste in music.
Me too! Sarah opened me up to so many new artists. Been following her since she was 17 .. so proud.
Love that Octave. Bit of a John Prine vibe in that Home Town tune. Great stuff. We would love to have you swing through Vermont sometime again. I landed here tonight and it made my week. Wonderful stuff.
I dare say "Orange and Blue" is one of my favourite songs ever... and I'm an oldie so have heard a LOT o'stuff.
Older guy... I have been into Sarah since she hit the music scene. She got a great voice, excellent timing and her songwriting is bold and fearless. Enjoyed this!! Also love her funky guitars... Everything from an old Kay to an old Martin D18.. very cool!!
David Crosby told us this morning what a talent this woman is so here I am.
Sooooooo much talent! And that Octave Mando! Wow!!
This song "I'll be gone" is just magical !
This is phenomenal
"The way you looked tonight" composed by Jerome Kern with lyrics written by Dorothy Fields ~ Sarah, I just found you tonight. Let me say I am really impressed. I hope you will consider some more vintage jazz. Thank you for following your dream and inspiring all of us and helping us with your passion to appreciate this beautiful world and all it has to offer.
Heard this for the first time today! Powerful and amazing! This from an old lady in Nashville..I am a brand new fan! BRAVO!!!
Please come back to Jackson, MS......You and Parker were the best show I've ever seen! xoxoxoxoxo
Amazing artist - brilliant songwriting - by far my favorite to date.
Utterly splendid!
Imagine what it would be like to have a friend that could sing sweet as Sara in your life. Like hearing them sing while you are making dinner or painting the bedroom.
Sarah, you have Excellent command of your voice and your instruments. I admire your skill so much!
Beautifully done, thank you, Sarah and Jeff, and the timing was uncanny, being so newly done I had no idea about as I happened to catch it while on RUclips listening to David Whyte’s poetry and prose. This is such a perfect way for my pup, kitty and I to gently relax into sleep on the bed together, listening, their sweet eyes already closing, in the dark still night of our room. (Orange and Blue has been such a favorite over the past week or two, words and guitar hauntingly lovely).
What a great artist ! I love to seat and listen to this softness, voice and guitar vibes... Congratulations
...best hour I have spent in a while, thanks Sarah and Jeff
As Arden Cooper says, "She is such a sweet soul and so cute." And SO, I certainly AGREE!
Fantastic Sarah, your music and your compositions are among the best of these times and come straight to the heart. It would be a great honor to have you here in Italy soon. Thanks so much!
Wish I could give more than one thumbs up! So delightful, so heartfelt, so enjoyable!
