5 Steps To Samba Drumbeat For Beginners. A simple way of playing the samba drum beat on the drumset for that you can use immediately in your playing. The samba drum beat is very common in jazz. This drum lesson should be especially helpful for drummers performing in high school or college jazz bands, military bands, cruise ship bands, and other jazz combo or big band situations.
The traditional samba beat is a Brazilian rhythm originally written in 2/4 time and played on multiple percussion instruments. These included the tamborim, surdo, ganza, ago-go bells, cuica, and pandeiro. This traditional drum beat was later adapted to the drum set, especially by jazz drummers. Today it’s common to see the samba beat written in 4/4 time as well as 2/4 time.

Thank you! Glad you found it helpful. Nothing wrong with starting older. I had students that didn't start playing till they were middle aged adults, But some of those guys still ended up playing in bands. Regardless it's a lot of fun. And that's what music is all about. 😁😁

If you find that helpful then great. i always tried to be very consistent with sticking's, etc. I found that it was easier to learn to improvise that way. When I'd hear something in my head I could just play it without having to worry about how I was going to play it.
