Best brass section I have ever heard. Not one stands out over the others, they blend perfectly in tone and volume. It is what a true brass section in any orchestra or band should sound like.
you mean that here the trumpets hold back, the trombones play normal (for trombones) and the tuba shakes the house invoking eldritch powers.... Yes, the outcome is perfect and I listen to it again and again :D
the trumpets aren´t holding back. Trombones can and do play louder than the trumpets. For example,, 1:35 is how a trumpet sounds when you play it extremely loudly and it´s not a sounds you ever want to hear from a trumpet in an orchestra.
It more often takes a 60-piece orchestra to produce the depth and complexity of sound that this 7-man ensemble creates as matter of course. For pure entertainment, Mnozil Brass is hard to beat. And yes, their acapella vocal are astounding. Many thanks guys.
OMG absolutely. I have a degree in Tuba performance, and then after that pivoted to choral music, and they worked HARD to do things that any good choral group does. Diction, timing, pronunciation (which, even in a native language has to be coordinated). I am so happy a group this talented exists.

Fantastic!!!!! These guys are just beautiful! They add humor, but they also make beautiful music! makes me want to get better on the trumpet myself, but it has been a long, hard, slow road. The playing hers was as beautiful as it gets. The singing was also as good as it gets. Just incredible stuff!
This is awesome! It's more of a "popular tunes" medley than really movie themes ... lots of stuff there from jazz, classical, and even opera/musical mediums.
Been to see them when they first came to UK. They marched past us playing random stuff not together, then lined up on stage and BAM! Literally you can feel the sound hit your face. P.S didn’t know Graham Norton could play trom 😂
I love how they mixed all of these songs! I also love how the main theme was Light Cavalry Overture! I heard: Light Cavalry, James Bond, If I Were a Rich Man, In the Mood, and others I cannot think of the title of. Great Stuff!
...omg, thanks for the Fiddler on the Roof part! And man oh man...that triple tonguing was just...wow. These guys have all got the best damn chops ever!
This ensemble is technically better in my opinion. The sound is much better and they play a much more varied selection of music types while keeping it all professional. They also actually PERFORM. They interact with each other and PERFORM instead of sitting still and playing a single song.
I absolutely love these guys! Their playing is as superb as their schtick is hilarious. I dare any brass choir to play "I Could Have Danced All Night" with those moves!
8:09 „Der Hoden“; womöglich eine polyphone Eigenkreation musisch-hormoneller Ausgelassenheit im Zuge der Erarbeitung des zuvor dargebotenen Arrangements? 😀 8:09 "The testicle"; perhaps a polyphonic self-creation of musical-hormonal exuberance in the course of the preparation of the previously presented compilation? 😀
Fang Chen they are (mostly) Austrians. Van Schnitzel The last word was "Hoden", which means "testicle", hence the chuckling audience. Since the "Ho" was just part of the song, only by adding the "-den" at the end, it became the word.
Tough to compare this group with the Canadian Brass. The texture of the ensemble is so different. I miss the F. Horn sound. I know the notes are covered between tpt.3 and tbn. 1, but the richness of the horn is something that helps with cohesiveness from top to bottom. Both ensembles are wonderful and worth paying to see in person.
Thanks for the listing. 2:55 is not Gershwin, it is from "The fiddler on the roof" (do not know the English words, in German, it is "Wenn ich einmal reich wär", sung by Tevje).
Thank you for your undying support, I don't know how I would have got this far as a Trumpet player without you giving such exquisite, capitalized criticism.
Excellent video! The producer and director captured varied video that matched the pacing of the music and got the featured player on the screen when there were solos!
I just heard this for the first time. Previously I had listened to what I now know are newer recordings that feature that world-class tubaist and entertainer, what's his name.
I think this is one of their best shows. It focuses the most on their playing and musicianship. I enjoy the newer shows they do as well but they can be a little over the top at times.
i was not expecting them to sing but it was welcome surprise. They sound absolutely amazing.

They're not just great, they are scary great. That vocal rendition brought a tear to my eye.

I love how well balanced they are, its almost like listening to an orchestra :)
They _are_ an orchestra, in the bare sense of the word; 'a group of instrumentalists'.

Insane.

ditto. except I got to see them twice- the 2nd time was a front row seat and I think my ears are still bleeding :D
btw. The last word "DER HO ... DEN" (german: der Hoden) means "testicle" ;-)
OMG I could not believe how good all of them were . They all amazing .Thanks a million .
Haha, I love how they're just playing some random classical pieces like the Siegfried Horn Call and Mahler 5 at the beginning ^^
I watched this today in band class! It's absolutely amazing!

WOW.. what a sound. I've watched this video about 60-70 times. i still get goosebumps at the full sound in the beginning.

WOOOOOOW!!!!!! AMAZING
they are so in tune even with their voices
I'm a trumpet player, but that tuba player has super chops...non stop...geezus.....💪💪

Well maybe I didn't make myself clear enough...
Van Schnitzel
Oh now i see! You actually were meaning it as a rethorical question to Fang Chen, while i thougt it was an actual question. My bad!
AntonStab Hey you know in Austria they speak German right?
I fucking love the James Bond part. Nice jazz and brass sound

Lots of fun. Nice to see the Canadian brass gets imitated!
I love at the beginning when they were messing around and the trombone is loud as mess like MAHLER 2 BABY
