What you need to know about the Fecon Blackhawk Mulching Head paired with the CAT 299D3 XD. Watch the machine rip through this lot in no time. McKenzie Contracting has one of the only one of these machines in Southern Maryland!
Props on the production value of your video! who ever made this send them a tip cuz they did good!!
Thanks!
Hi there..i just wonder can it cut the palm tree?
We don't have palms in Maryland, but I would assume it could mulch it if its not too large. We can mulch up softwood up to 10" diameter for the most part.
Are you keeping that machine running alot?thinking of starting a small business with one of these units
Where are you located?

@@jiveturkey231 We have seen a decent amount of work come in. as long as you advertise correctly, I dont see why not. Check around for competition in the area first
Everyone is grabbing a stock skid steer and slapping a head on it these days.
People don't understand how much maintenance is required to keep these units that aren't meant to do this line of work running properly.
Most of these 1 or 2 man crew, company's with these small skid steer mulchers usually go out of business because of downtime and repairs that happen weekly.
These skids aren't designed to run hi-flow heads like that all day, it's a stupid amount of wear and tear.
Only skids really designed for it is asv and supertrak and that's still same maintenance just they last longer and eat 100% + faster and thicker wood.
The john deeres, kubotas, Takeuchi, and cats your lucky to get over 2000 hours on them even with after market coolers and upgraded stuchi fittings. Even after 1000hrs it doesn't cut like it did when it was brand new.
Just becareful and do your research before you jump into it.
Be prepared just hate seeing people within a year or two max, upside down and out 120 to 150k on a broken machine. When it looks so easy but it's far from it.
You then have 10 or 20 others doing the same thing, and then the undercut each other, and then the price is so low it isn't even worth doing the job most the time.
Anyways hope this helps and best of luck to everyone.
Cool video bud. It was just suggested to me. I've rented a fecon head quite a few times and it's pretty cool. Haven't pulled the trigger on one yet though. Don't have enough available workers anymore to run everything. Check out my vids if you're inclined. Take care
I rented a CAT 299D2 XHP Forestry machine for a 4 week rent and of the 28 days, the machine was broke for 15 of those days. Junk
We’ve had good luck with ours.
Rental units always break down cause everyone beats the shit out of them.
@@justpalms9978 not just that, they arent designed to be running a head everyday, and on top of that the operator has no clue what they are doing, as well as the daily maintenance of 1 to 2hrs a day they should be doing lol
