Yup. Mid 40s and I still whistle the first stage tune now and then and remember throwing the clowns into the window displays. Also yes it has been 30 years which makes me very depressed. I was it was only 20 years.
This is the gold standard for movie tie-in games for this era. The care taken to capture the look and feel of the movie is outstanding. I remember playing at a friends house and he was shocked when I showed him you could replicate Batman shooting the grapnel at the Stun Gun Clown and pulling out the chunk of the wall behind him.
Same with me and also a childhood favorite SNES Game and The Movie itself that was a Summer Hit in 1992 back then, but still consider as a Christmas Movie too…

How is it ahead of its time? Beat-em-ups weren't exactly hard to come by on the SNES back in the day, and this one is good but not exactly ground breaking.
I love this game, It's my favorite game on the SNES and It's based on my favorite Batman movie of all time, I've beaten this game 1000 times and I still play it on the Halloween and Christmas months.
I love this game so much. The Final Fight style of gameplay, the music feels like Danny Elfman composed it, the graphics are phenomenal, etc. Konami did so great with this game.
I was just thinking of final fight looking at it. I think YT recommended me this video because I just uploaded some beat em ups.. I've never played this one, but I almost definitely will.
I Think it's safe to say that this might be the only DC Game that Konami had made like X-Men The Arcade Game which is the only Marvel Game that they made..I am a huge fan of Batman since The New Adventures of Batman and Robin which is one of my favorite Batman Cartoons up to this day and Batman The Animated Series
So god damn fantastic Its follow the movie perfect Graphic is a amazing Soundtrack identical to the movie 10/10 one of the best SNES games ever created ,
Purchased this game back when I got my very first SNES here in Australia. Loved this game greatly, the satisfaction you get from delivering BAT justice to the penguin's minions was amazing. Perfect example of a perfect brawler, eat your heart out Capcom.
I find it hard to believe that back in the day companies like Capcom & Konami were not only releasing tons of great properties of their own without ripping off fans but even quality movie based games... Now it's just DLC Street Fighter Resident Evil DLC Metal Gear Solid DLC Silent Hill DLC... Did I forget to mention the DLC?
DLC has become the main market for games now. Since Home consoles have become more advance equipped with internet accessed to the web, a lot of the young demography have resorted to using the PSN and XBLA for content. DLC has become a stronger market then just selling games in retail stores. Because of that, Capcom and Konami have to keep up with modern times and adjust and provide to the consumers. Yes it sucks for old school gamers like you and I but that is the way it is. The generation now has Online Multiplayer, we had Arcades.
of course fans were being ripped of then ¿how many tenagers of the late 80's, early 90's could afford paying 70$ - 100$ (japanese imports then even more, up to 140$) for a snes or megadrive game? at least in europe that was a complete ripoff. no internet to inform beforehand, just covers and still images in gaming magazines. if lucky enought a department sore would have it playing in the electronics section. Chances that after losing your year savings to a game you realize that you bought a complete garbage of a game, And how long until you could afford yourself another one? just think how much money would be 70$ - 100$ comparativelly in purchasing power today. today gaming scene is a ripoff, but yesterday game scene was a ripoff too, but worse as it was difficult to get informed well.
This is one of the most faithful video game adaptations of a major motion picture, which makes this one of the best SNES games and possibly THE best Batman game ever.
I owned a genesis and my cousin owned snes. We played this game for hours and hours on the snes and i was so excited to get it on my genesis then i did and man what a disappointment it was. Didn't even play that junk for 3 mins not that genesis wasnt capable but would have been awesome if the same developer made the genesis version and what the difference would have been then.
Oh man, this game I rented from Blockbuster in the 1990s. The gameplay is superb. I don't know why I didn't buy it for my collection. This is one of the best games on the snes. Konami did such a great job creating this game. Lots of fun. Way ahead of it's time. A classic on the snes.
30:14 That scream still haunts me to this day. I had played this game in '94 and had seen the movie beforehand, but I wasn't expecting the woman you're trying to save to die in a SNES game, a beat 'em up no less.
This brings back a lot of memories! One of my favourite Batman game on snes! Beat em up, flying kick, smashing enemies into each over and throwing clowns up against store windows… this game had all the right ingredients!
Yes, they were. This game is just one of rare exceptions. Cut out that mythos about "good old days", movie-based games even then were either mediocre, or just a piece of shit. And even today we still get to see a good game based on a movie, like Chronicles of Riddick (which was actually better than the movie) or Battle of Middle-Earth.
Genesivare Genesivare Yeah every single one I played back in these "Good old days" was absolutely atrocious. The King of Shit had to be Total Recall, which included a level where you had to kill about 80 rats and 80 bums, all because there was one quick scene in the movie in an abandoned building where one rat was shot. Lol. The bums all looked the same of course, and attacked you on sight, of course.
One of the best beat em ups Konami has made based on a comic book movie. I like how while this game is an SNES exclusive, it has that arcade feel to its controls and theme.
One of the few only iconic caped crusader VG I cannot get sick of, and that has shaped me into the Bat I am today. The music also has an everlasting impression on me in every aspects
I think that the SNES version of "Batman Returns" is one of the best movie-based video games of all time. I know it 's not saying much--considering the reputation of movie-based video games but it's one of my personal favorite video games.
I still have the cartridge for this! One of my favorites growing up! I'm really happy with how good Streets of Rage 4 is, but this is still better imo.
I remember spending countless hours in the first 3 levels cause i couldn't beat it, i was like 7 years old. watching this brings back so many good memories! Thank you for sharing.
I also got a dvd copy of the original batman returns movie. As child I always watch my older brothers play this game alot on the super nes. You know Konami did a amazing job with the Batman license. This game, the Batman and Robin Adventures game. They took all of what the fans loved and incorporated them into the games. Unlike LJN who always butchered movie based games, these were perfectly made!
This was one of my favorite games for the SNES. Great music from the movie, solid gameplay, and good graphics for the time. Way better than Maximum Carnage.
This one of the best beaten ups of all time, so much fun. Sound track was good too. There’s something about getting in a street fight with some ruffian clowns that is magical. Some of those clowns were tough customers.
This is one of those rare games you remember perfectly even 20 years later! What a gem!
More like 30 years!
Which is scary yikes

The music in this game is simply awesome.
I just love the sound of the punches Batman lands on all of the thugs he fights and the groans of pain from the bosses.
