Video interview with English singer and songwriter Jasmine van de Bogaerde, better known as Birdy. FaceCulture spoke with Birdy about piano lessons from her mother, writing her own songs, Young Hearts, writing for Portraits, the mood of the album, Kate Bush, an emphasis on vocals, naturally more commercial songs, Ruins II and Battlefield, Raincatchers, success at a young age, and a lot more! Young Heart is a masterpiece. The soft layers of sounds were so delicately woven, her voice was so real having experienced real heartbreak. Songs like Surrender, Young Heart, and Nobody Knows me Like You Do, must have really taken everything out of her. I doubt we'll see an album like this again from her.

So beautiful, so down to earth, such a big heart and a wonderful soul. And of course, so talented. {And even more especially so, because being so humble, I know that none of my gushing so, will go to your head. Nonetheless, it's all true.}
How lucky is the person to whom you'd be their whole, as you say. (How lovely life would be, were it me... A nice dream and an even nicer reality. Holding my breath... )

I love Birdy. Bought each cd so far. Think Portraits starts really strong and has a few more highs, but also ends too soon and fizzles out a bit. The Kate Bush inspiration comes through very well.

I love Birdy, I'm a keyboard person since age 4 and I'm 70 now......gonna keep an eye and two ears open to your channel......I think Jasmime Lucilla Elizabeth Jennifer Van der Gaerde is a brilliant artist and a beautiful and special human being......she is so lovable and cute!
Did you ever interview Aurora Asknes? from Norway.....another child prodigy sharing her Love, Magic and Goodness with us humans......and they're both the same age more or less, they were both born in 1996, which is a very good year for female artists, I also love Sigrid Raabe, also Norwegian, and an all time Aurora's friend, same age and another great artist in her own right so apart from the regular mainstream manure dumping.
