    "I'm not promoting myself, but the work" is such an extremely healthy and refreshing outlook. Especially in this day of influencers and Entertainment Personalities. She has poured so much theatricality into her albums and her videos, but she realizes that there's a place for theater and a place for earnestness, and she approaches her interviews with such calm candor. A true artist.

      Art merely imitates and reflects life but it is NOT real life. Real life is what ordinary everyday folk do in everyday living. Like work, have kids or not bother with having kids at all, do other things instead, kerp house, raise kids, have pets, fall in love, fall out of love, feel happy/sad, die, grieve, get lucky, suffer misfortunes etc. Having dreams eg of being good enough to perform on a stage, be famous is not the same as living in some kind of delusion, like most millennial influencers and assorted 'wannabes' live in nowadays, unaware of the huge discrepancy between the reality of c the crap they really are and what how good they imagine themselves to be. Fame does not necessarily mean you are any good because fam we can be easily 'bought', if you t mummy and daddy are rich enough and ambitious enough to be able to afford to just pay for it, for their darling worthless, useless moll e nnial daughters taught by feminist mothers to 'just fake it till you make it'. An AI fake voice can make you sound good, even look fantastic on a screen, even if you are crap.The acid test is to get up on a stage full dressed in plain clothes and perform live for a critical live audience.In an earlier cultural era, in Europe, cradle of Western culture, arrogant crappy artists daring to get public attention with their trash shows were pelted with rotted fruit etc to give them the hint to get off, go get a normal job, have kids etc.Not waste audience time to see them perform their garbage.

    I see others have mentioned it and I always find it stands out in any interview, her intelligence. Yes, she is very beautiful, off the planet talented/creative, has a unique voice and is very modest but above all, it's her intelligence that stands out. No other singer, past or present, male or female comes close. Love to know what her IQ is. There are many genres in music, but she has one of her own, the Kate Bush genre. She's in a league of her own. I've been in love with this lady since '78.

    It's interesting how different not just the accent but the inflection in people's voices was different 35 years ago, not to mention how much more awkwardly formal interviews seemed. What I love about Kate's vibe as well is she makes an effort not to come across as arrogant despite having every right to be, given how much she created from such a young age.

I don’t necessarily enjoy putting it out there because i know im capable of so much more than that, but if it brings joy to people, why not? No Hannah had met Robert before he was a GP. And his practice was in London in Plumstead not Surrey!

      @Baby Hunn Oh yeah, where did you stay and what did you do while you here in the mid 90's 😁
      No Bexleyheath is where she was born but the house where she grew up in was just down the road in Welling!
      Because at that time she moved to London when EMI bought her a flat and wanted to be back in Kent in early 1982!
      So she moved back home with her mum and dad in Welling and built a home studio there then in late 1985 bought house in Eltham!
      But wasn't in the house it was a built extension from the side of the garden!
      Hannah never worked with Robert in Plumstead!
      Yea she was from Ireland Hannah-Yeah Kate was/is very talented. I'm falling alseep as very late here in UK so if don't reply will do when wake up. 🥱

      I do know of the Adirondack Moutains but never been there, and was also last shown on UK-TV 4 months ago!
      When you said its almost time for you to wake up I was still sleeping for 3 hours. lol
      Oh so just in London then-should of got a train into Kent-my part of Kent to London only takes 35 mins on the train. 😁
      As I am writing this it is 9am in New York and 2pm here!
      building a home studio with all that equipment was really expensive, but in the long run it isn't-Typical artists normally spend at least 6 months doing an album and if you recorded that at EMI that would of been something like 3 grand a day so total that up for 6 months!
      Not just that but also the producer and engineer get their cut, which Kate didn't have to do.
      + Abby Road would be like 5 grand a day which would ten obviously come out of what ever you made with single/album in the charts!
      Where as a home studio you have no constant pressure!
      Del met her in summer of 1976, when she was 18, well to me as I was local and also because my friend and his familes GP was DR Robert Bush it was much earlier meeting them than at a record signing their album etc
      When d you think yu will be next in the UK for a holiday-I mean been 25 very long years(take it you went before Sept)??

    There is great sensual , intellectual , emotional , and funky depth in Kate Bush songs beyond the surface storyline of the song. Cloudbusting, for instance, sure doesn't solely have to be just about making rain in the sky - not in my chosen interpetation anyway.

My first love musically is alt rock/indie from bands like Weyes Blood, The National, etc., and I feel like they owe so much of who they are (Weyes Blood in particular) to Kate Bush. Discovering that everything I love is just iterations of the brilliance of Kate Bush.

      Weyes Blood isn't alt rock or indie. she's art pop! that's the same genre as Kate Bush, and artists such as Bjork. it's an amazing genre, and sadly one of the only genres in the music community where women get recognition.

    I have so many questions and would like her answers about "the ninth wave". "And dream of sheep" is such a haunting, deeply intense song for me and I would love her commentary on this work. The media never asked these questions and typically focused on the questions that made her uncomfortable. Its unfortunate that great artists like Kate are pressed for mundane answers to mainstream questions and not asked questions that they would feel more comfortable and rewarding (at least for the fans) surrounding their art and what their work means to everyone who loves it.

I love seeing early on women in music successes like this but also sad how they were held back and how hard people can be on them. I'm just in a trance watching some of her music and its so rare now to see music like that so its precious.

    She seems guarded, and she answers the questions, though she's not always comfortable. On one music forum, people spoke about their experiences meeting famous musicians, and one person who met Kate described her as "Reasonably friendly, but paranoid....housebound" . I guess that's the way she is: a complex character. Given that, her later reclusiveness seemed inevitable. I hope that her latest (10 year) disappearance isn't permanent. She is missed.

    • @herrgolf
      @herrgolf 3 года назад +6

      I don’t think she’s particularly guarded. Being famous is a pain in the ass. Celebrity is a job in itself. She’s obviously comfortable financially and doesn’t have to go out of her way to be in public life. I mean just look at all these comments praising her-can you imagine how uncomfortable it would be to hear that all the time in real life? So no, it’s not paranoia.

    • @NeglectedField
      @NeglectedField 2 года назад +1

      @@herrgolf Agreed. It 'changes' people like that, but even using the word 'changes' isn't necessarily correct. Sure, some people do actually change (for better or worse), but no matter how polite and unassuming you are as a person, the dynamic between you and other humans inevitably changes irrevocably. It's a real double-edged sword. Praise is nice initially, but when it becomes adulation, it can feel creepy. You can also forget being out and about town unmolested while you buy toilet paper or try to have a pint with your mates at the local pub - something to remember if you ever get jealous of famous folk. To quote Morten Harket (A-Ha), "The bus is no longer yours, the train, the shops, the supermarket, the streets, that's really the main thing that changes." That's when you have to "put up barriers", to quote Neil Peart (Rush), especially if you're more introverted. Kate already clearly needed to do that, and that was before all of this Stranger Things stuff. I hope that the increasing inability to do the things anonymous people do isn't too detrimental to her mental health, weird as it might be to be concerned about someone who's about to be even more rolling in it.
