This is probably the best interview I've ever heard anyone get from her. People are usually so weird when approaching her but this interviewer spoke to her like she was a normal human being and it seems like she really responded well to that lol

razrv3lc The interviewer is very good. I would act weird as hell in an interview right now at my age. Give me half a lifetime & a few trial runs, and I’m sure I would also sound like a “normal human” 🙂😉

It’s all to do with age I think, and that other musicians in this day and age really ‘get’ Kate. Years ago they really didn’t. Plus she’s an older individual now and has much more confidence and understanding in herself and her artistic muse. Just always beautiful to hear this woman speak.

This was incredible to listen to for many reasons. For one thing, this is one of the most recent things we've heard from Kate Bush, and another is that she's really very open in it and forthcoming about many things, more open than she's almost ever been in any interview. You can feel her heart, her humanity, and that's what we've always loved about her - her songs and music and stories and dancing and videos are brilliant, but it was always the human being and her heart behind all of it that we fell in love with and have been in love with all these years.

Listened to many of the Kate Bush interviews & they've always felt very awkward down to the interviewer's lack of preparation, but I have to say this interviewer really got Kate to open up, what a fantastic interview I really feel like I got to know Kate a little more as the woman and not the artist ❤️🌹

Kate seems almost like she has intruder syndrome, like she doesn’t realize how talented she is and how much we all love her. I mean I’m a fan of many musical acts but Kate is probably my ultimate role model and absolute favorite💜. I do wish I could have been able to afford a trip to England to see her live, but I’m still very thankful for the live album.

She's very humble, but also, all true artists are never satisfied with their work and always questioning if their work is good enough, which pushes them to be brilliant. If she was "confident," or worse, she wouldn't be the genius that she is. Also, she has only done two sets of live shows decades apart, so of course she's going to be afraid of how it will turn out and really hoping that people will love her performance after taking such a huge risk putting herself out there.

I was 12 years old when Wuthering Heights came out..I*m 53 now..and i still find something new in it every time..as with everything Kate's..but of course, the first album made such a HUGE impact on me at that age..with so many horrible things happening in my family life at the time..the whole album became like an anchor in my life..I escaped in to the world of the Kick Inside every single night..it took me to another world, where i didn't have to feel the heavy burdens of life that no 12 year old should need to feel.. Kate, in a sense, saved my life with that album. Love this woman forever more.

Still love you Kate, ever since 78. You made so much great music that will stand the test of time.
Once, it must have been 1979, i came to see you. Naive boy i was, i figured you had to know it was me.
So i got a registrationplate for my 50cc bike, packed up and moved out.
Gogh, my parents must have thought i was crazy. But they helped actually and never laughed or said anything about it. And there i went, off to england. Took the ferry to Folkstone and got there by night. I had 500 guilders i think and figured it would be enough to get there and stay for a bit.
Some guy on the radio had said you lived in Plumbstead, Kent. So i thought i would be able to find that and ask around where you lived.
haha, it all sounds so stupid now.
I was going to do bed and breakfast and my 500 would be enough to spend a week or smth, i thought. But it was all full so i drove through the dark to some other town, still at the coast it seemed later and i was getting tired. So there was a hotel and i thought i would do that. By the time i had calculated how much it cost me, i had already said yes. So, i lost half my money there, but the room had a nice view over a small harbor and beach. I listened to your songs, bc i had brought a casette players and tapes.
I went down to try to find the address and browsed through thick phone books, but could not find it. So i asked the nice man from the hotel. And he didnt know either. Couldnt even find plumbstead, let alone your address. And he didnt know either.
So, since my money wasnt sufficient anymore and i had no idea where to go, the next day i drove towards London. With my small bike, normally here in NL only allowed at the time on bicycle lanes, but in britain i had to drive among the cars and trucks and on the left side of course. At some point decided that this mission had failed. So i went back home.
So, thats why i didnt make it love ;]
as if you were waiting for me... hahahah
    God how naive i was.
Years later, and a tad more mature, i was with my sister in London, to see some museums and so. At some point we had to take a bus somewhere and as i read the routes on the sign, there , right there it said "Plumbstead" !!!!
    It was IN London actually.
Ofc by that time i had realized i wasnt exactly the only person you made music for and that there were many millions of people, fans, of whom many would love you. And that to you, i was of course an unknown somewhat odd fan. So i secretly kept loving you, from a distance, but will always remember how i felt back then and wonder about how strange this connection is you can feel.
Im 61 now and accidently stumbled upon your music again. I dont listen much music anymore, bc it became too painfull and i cant fall apart all the time. Day before yesterday i had to let my big friend, my cat (Nooby) go. Burried him yesterday, so i am allowed to cry a bit. Which is why i decided to listen some songs and let the emotion flow a bit.
Anyway. I still love you, although of course you dont know me at all. And i hereby thank you for all the beautifull, magical music you made, that very much enriched my life.
And of course, just in case you were waiting for me, there is the explanation on why i didnt make it. I DID try ;]
    hehehe

I do love the new live album with all my heart but for me the greatest (by far) Kate Bush 'album' (It's a bootleg) I own is called The Shrubberies. It's a collection of demos Kate recorded as a very young woman. It's very raw, just her untrained often faltering voice and a piano. It's probably one of the most precious possessions I own. Great interview by the way, I love what she says about a live album being more provocative than a DVD. It's like comparing a book to a film (the book is always better) with a book you can let your imagination wander and create your own experience while immersed in it. thanks for sharing Trevor.

col4022 I've got this too, I'm pretty sure mine was a fan bootleg on cd. Idk if it was ever officially released as it is super raw which can be off putting for some. I'm pretty sure most of it is just one mic into a reel to reel recorder, but it's all the more beautiful because of it. Demo material can be so voyeuristic, potent and vital. I come back to it all the time. It's cool to see someone mention it.

The more I hear/watch Kate's interviews and her work, the more I feel that I have a lot in common with her. I'm a very creative guy and I've always identified myself as an 'intensity junkie'. I think that describes her as well. She loves exploring the most extreme emotions, and she's always driven to create more. I know how that feels: I'm never happy unless I'm writing music or words, or even software. Anything, as long as it brings my soul out into the physical world. That's something I recognise in Kate's music and in her visual performances, and that's why I regard her as a great artist. Looking forward to hearing the live album!

I AM disappointed that you refuse to release a visual representation of the last tour.....you can make these excuses and/or arguements till you are blue in the face , but the fact of the matter is this show demands to be released on bluray/DVD whatever , if only for those many folks like myself who couldn't be with you in 2014!!! Philip Glass prevarecated with his Einstein on the Beach opera for similar reasons before finally allowing its filming and release.....no its not like being there (obviously) but its a mighty fine second best! That is what I'd like from you Miss Bush! A mighty fine second best visual experience better than none at all !!! Thankyou.

An insightful interview, and she’s very generous about how she works. Great pity there isn’t a visual record, like a dvd, for the enormous amount of people who couldn’t get a ticket for the 2014 shows. Perhaps recording it properly was a logistical nightmare too big to carry forward. A pity, nonetheless....

Is it Zane Lowe interviewing Kate Bush? She has a voice like strawberry, chocolate, sugar, butter, it is so soothing. I remember one of my first memories seeing Wuthering heights on TV in early 80’s even though I didn’t understand what she sang I cried and asked my parent what the song is about. Knowing now its origin I’m going to read the book. Both versions. People who experience ‘before the dawn’ I envy you. I hope Kate has different view on recording live performance.

I would have loved the interviewer to ask Kate about the spiritual aspects of the performance. For example, the beginning of the show which is of the Order of the Golden Dawn.I think that there were many subjects that could have been delved into deeper but I guess I am of a spiritual ilk and not everyone is. The several spiritual doctrines which Kate draws on in her shows and I would have loved to hear more about how these practices have compelled Kate to integrate them into her shows.Kate created a profoundly powerful event which touched us deeply.
