Do the trigger outs work properly on this now with Roland gear? I heard the trigger outs weren’t putting out the correct voltage to clock external gear properly.
It seems to me that the Synthtribe tool doesn't fetch the newest firmware version from the Behringer servers, but you have to update to the newest Synthtribe tool each time to also get the newest firmware. Make sure you have Synthtribe 2.5.2 installed, then it should offer you the newest firmware.

That's just some gated reverb, which we also added to the RD-8 part in our "In The Air Tonight" cover. Beefs up snares, claps and even kick drums quite a bit, almost a must for synthwave.
Is there a way to trigger drum sounds without the sequencer? Like if the sequencer is not running, can I press "trigger" and it will play the selected drum sound?
Hi Matt, yes that's exactly how it works! Only if the sequencer is stopped, the select buttons will trigger the drum sounds. Take a look at our RD-8 review if you want to see it in action ruclips.net/video/60fJuhdwVPg/видео.html
Thanks for this 👍
I bought rd8 around a year ago never been turned on as yet
Will i have to update still or not?
Thank you
Thanks for watching! An RD-8 you bought about a year ago is most likely still on firmware version 1. I'd highly recommend updating, it has been massively improved. If you want to check which firmware is installed you can press "Settings", then hold "Tap/Hold" and press Step 5.
@@CaptainPikant thanks again will check out your other vidios as i look forward to using rd8 👍👍
Do the trigger outs work properly on this now with Roland gear?
I heard the trigger outs weren’t putting out the correct voltage to clock external gear properly.
All 3 Trigger outs were working perfectly for me with the new firmware loaded. Love it
I updated yesterday but got version 2.0.6 How is that possible??
It seems to me that the Synthtribe tool doesn't fetch the newest firmware version from the Behringer servers, but you have to update to the newest Synthtribe tool each time to also get the newest firmware. Make sure you have Synthtribe 2.5.2 installed, then it should offer you the newest firmware.
@@CaptainPikant Well, I tried that yesterday. Version 2.5.2 of Synthtribe was only uploaded 3 days ago so I thought that must be it. But now I get this "Cloud under Maintenance" message every time I click update. I'm using Windows 10 and I have to install Zadig driver everytime I turn on the laptop otherwise I can't get into synth tool.
@@EdEditz Well that sucks :( Maybe try contacting Behringer customer support or try the Musictribe forums. Of you could try to find version 2.5.1 of Synthtribe, maybe there's something wrong with the newest version.
nice nailpolish....
Where could i find this update
Hi Basile, I made a pinned comment on this video detailing the process.
@@CaptainPikant thank you so much !
I updated mine to the previous firmware version and all my patterns have been deleted from the flash memory.. Just so you know people.
I've never had a memory scrub and I've been developing this for a long time. The rd9 too. I must have updated and downgraded about 150 times this last year. How strange you had a wipe. I'm baffled. Being honest there.
@@ogasi1798 Strange isn't it? I've never would have thought so myself thats why I did not make any sysex dump or anything like that beforehand..
akos bacso hmmm. I'd have to think why it would do that, like I say I've gone up and down sooooo many times...
Hopefully you managed not to lose anything too precious, although it's like losing your phone. Always a good time to clear out those unwanted and unused numbers hehe
@@ogasi1798 Btw is it possible to back up patterns and songs with the app?
is there a direct link to the firmware updater ? I'm lost on beringhers site :(
Hi Emilio, you're not the only one, that question came up quite often. Take a look at the pinned comment on the top!
Captain Pikant it's not hard, goto rd8 page, look to the right, click software and it's there, it really couldn't get much easier
@@ogasi1798 the problem with that is that someone who's interested in downloading a firmware update will look for something that says "firmware". In that software list you mentioned there's only "Firmware Updater V1.3.5", which adds to the confusion. A user who doesn't know that the SynthTribe app is a unified installer for all Behringer drum machine and synthesizer firmwares will inevitably be confused, especially since other manufacturers offer separate downloads for their firmwares.
@@CaptainPikant Not really a problem, right above 1.35 fw it has release notes, nobody would open those and think wowo march 2020 this must be the latest FW. it is impossible to cover every single baby step needed, tbf the 1st thing most people would do is hit a search engine and voila. In fact if you type how to update rd8 into an engine a myriad of info pops up that points straight to the solution inc. many videos. We were all new users once and i don't know too may who are not aware of synthtribe or its duty and if anybody was unsure, as i say - search engine, that 's my take at least - that seems to be the norm, anyway who cares how other manufacturers do things? They should not all do it the same way should they.
Very good videos! Thank you! One question please: Do you hear any noise ruclips.net/video/4Y0EbZyrHh8/видео.html from the outs or noise when you turn on the unit? Thank you!
Hi there, I'll have access to my RD-8 again in about two weeks, I'll test and report back to you then. But that actually seems like normal behaviour to me. I think I hear some residue of the toms/congas in there as well as the clap "reverb". Could be the circuits reacting to the incoming current. A modder like Maffez could certainly tell you more about that. The new Vermona DRM-1 MkIV we reviewed even features a switch-on delay to prevent those noises when switching on the unit.
@@CaptainPikant Thanks for the reply!
@@Musical.Maze.1 I just checked and mine also makes these noises when switched on. Seems very normal to me. The individual out of the High Conga even gave me a distinct "ploing" sound.
@@CaptainPikant Thank you again!
