- Together with two of my Favorite RUclipsrs @Miscast and @MidwinterMinis I went through 40 years of Warhammer miniatures to find the best figure from each decade. We had lots of fun hanging out, discussing our favorite warhammer 40k, warhammer fantasy and age of sigmar miniatures. Hope you have just as fun watching us!
Spoiler: We talk about miniatures like Rogue Trader Space Orks, Nurgle, Warhammer Giant (gargant) and the original plastic Space Marine to mention a few.

Nice
Is there a close date for the late pledges for your brushes? I really want to get them but I'm worried that its going to end before I get the money :'(
SO EXCITED FOR THE BRUSHES AND BUSTS AHHHHH
That Archaon comission was for my friend and it looks great up close ^^
I know I’m like half a year late, I just wanted to say hi
Thanks again Emil! What a blast
Dude it was so nice to just hang and talk minis ❤️
So wholesome!
Can’t believe I missed this episode
HELLO
HELLÖW
Hi
Hey how are ya
I think that is the most simpel liked comment sry when I write it wrong😅🇩🇪13
So cool the “ The Man With The Golden Voice”
Honestly guy's smile all the way through was just lovely, he is such a nice guy.
NO U
I see what you did there
Aww thanks guy, honestly you embarrass me!
@@samjones677 You're breathtaking!
“It’s one of those that I kind of wish that I had but I’ll probably never get”
Well that was a lie
Or should we rather say foreshadowing ... ?
With all the craziness going on at the moment, this is the kind of wholesome content I love seeing on YT, just 3 dudes nerding out about their favourite Warhammer models, reliving some nostalgia and cracking some jokes - thanks for the great video guys!
Thx for the love mate!
Squidmar “it’s the Thunderhawk from 1997” “it’s one of those things I don’t think I’ll ever have.” If only he knew...
literally just scrolled down when he said that lol
Watching this in 2022. little did he know it would sell for 25,000 gbp
For the 80s, check out the 'Spaced-out Marines.'
Drunk marines, staggering and holding tankards... such a rare and brilliant example of GW making fun of their own poster boys.
Thats pretty cool and weird. Dont think they are the best but surely worth a honorary mention.
7:41 "stopped playing with Metal, and started to play Metal" that took me by surprise
Check this out ruclips.net/video/-wWWzI3FIWc/видео.html
@@Strat0Patrick That is insane....I had no idea, I listened to Zonaria's Infamy and the Breed a ton.
Dude , they sound like hypocrisy lol they should of just stayed with it , kind of unreal , he is a great guitarist too , interesting!
@@KevinvL It's great stuff! Thanks for illuminating Kevin. Love painting, warhammer and metal music myself. Emil I'm a fan of the painting and the music! Metal and Metal.
we have very similar tastes in youtubers
fuck I was about to comment that
Just what I was thinking
No love for the Eldar Falcon? Such a good 90s sculpt!
If you've ever built a Falcon then you know why it's not anyone's favourite model. The casting has always warped, and the pieces often don't fit together properly.
@@schroecat1 I've built 5 falcon chassis, 2 were oop fireprisms. The old fire prisms were a nightmare. I didn't have much trouble with the plastics though.
90's pick: The original Eldrad Ulthran. One of the best Jes Goodwin sculpts ever (and he has a lot of good ones). A sculpt so good that when they updated it to plastic, they hardly changed a thing.
The Green Knight for me.
Archaon on horse, Is my favorite of all times. I never played Warhammer Fantasy, but I had to buy this one. Usually I painted models for all my friends, but this one I bought just for me, cause I really felt in love with it.
I really wished to see it in this video, and maybe I have to buy it again, even when I'm out of the hobby for a long time and sold all my miniatures a long time ago.
Agreed. This is the model that drew me back in and was used in a lot of the golden deamon compatitions. Based on the painting of Napoleon.
Cool video all, as far as the WarhammerQuest Wardancer... that was so inspired by the Hair bands of the 80's and 90's. I love it.
@@RinoGato haha great shout👍🏻
Okay, I'm gonna need to see that music video.
ruclips.net/video/-wWWzI3FIWc/видео.html here you go
Hey there guys.
My favourite Model of all time is (and most likely will ever be) the green Knight.
Great pick
Love the channel and the collaborations with Midwinter Minis, Miscast and Scott/Miniac. Keep up the great content!
subscribed to miscast terrain immediately ! I knew yours and guy's for a long time already ! thanks for the cool vids emil !
It's been a challenging week and I've been recovering each night by watching your painting videos. This one was just so fun, and gave me lots of smiles. Thanks for doing what you do and being you!
The best model for me, is from the early 2000s, from a more civilized game. The RIngwraith on the metal fellbeast, where it's tail forms the flying pose and the wings are swooped up.
Many of the LOTR mini's are WONDERFUL.
Great video, always nice to see genuine hobbyists smile just talking about their favourite models. There are some real brilliant, humble and down to earth content creators in our hobby right now, long may it continue and thank you for sharing!
I had an old damaged Warboss model from AOBR 10 years ago. I don't play Orks so I cut up the model and kitbashed it with an Iron Warriors Daemon Prince, it turned out really good.
Would love another video like this! You and some pals talking about some of your personal favourite models from GW’s history. This kind of thing is always inspiring.
Yes another, video!
Just wanna say i love your work and you inspired me to paint mini's.
Really solid! I love the choices through the ages! This has reignited my hype for gargants :-D
I have done Warhammer for a year now and I don't know that much minis but I love the new Ghazghkull model and will finaly got it to my 14Birth day in one month 😄
Sorry when I write something wrong
Really fun video! Definitely inspiring to get out there and try my, admittedly newbie, hand at painting some of them :) Thanks!
Loved this. Great stuff guys keep it up.
Great video and I love the minis chosen. (And there are so many to choose from.)
Those early 40k dreadnoughts were certainly impactful. While I adore the ork dread and the goblin pilot nailed into it, they are edged out by the eldar dreadnoughts. My first glimpse of those spindly alien lines and the blank carapaces looming in the breach of the castle wall in WD 100 and I was infatuated and adamant that these were the best things ever. Three decades and I still love them to bits.
This seriously is one of my favorite warhammer videos ever, I have so much in commen in experience! Insane
I'm so glad you mentioned Archon on Dorghar. It's such a classic model and great for conversions - I've got a bretonnian conversion I've been working on with it. I've been trying to find another one of eBay but they're super expensive or janky recasts.
The WhatsApp group with these guys maniac and goober town must be epic!
That must just be so disgustingly wholesome...
@@kingjulian7045 why?
@@pianomanwithapianoplan504 sorry I wrote this at a point when I found goobertown to be the most boring warhammer youtuber on the planet and had some seriously irrational issues with the guy.
@@kingjulian7045 oh, no problem, I use to think he was a bit meh to, but I’ve watched a few of his videos and there good
Awesome video !! I stopped playing around 1999 and also started playing metal music. A few records later and tours - 3 sons that got me back into 40k!! Orks forever!
Just watched you paint the thunder hawk that you never thought you'd have, keep it up man !
Gotta see that metal video! Surprised how many people share the same path, got into the hobby in the 90s, out in 00-10s, and back somewhat recently, same for me - back after a 12 year break.
Great video, thanks for amazing content.
Nice overview with some sweet memories. My personal taste finds it tough to find anything pleasing from the "middle ages" of GW models from late 90's through early 2000's. However it's great to look back and find the little nuggets of good work amongst the range :)
Wow, Emil! I just hit the 7:35 mark where you mention you went from Warhammer to metal, and now you have come back into the "hobby." I'm feeling surprisingly relatable, as that could be used verbatim to describe myself with a very wide brush.
Anyways, keep up the great work! Have you painted a noise marine? If not, perhaps paint one for a vid that matches with your "genre." Then again, could I suggest that Swedish gem Crimson by Edge of Sanity, in a Tzeentchian whisper? 😂
9:47 I have this exact issue of white dwarf in my drawer. The giant also blew my mind when I first saw it
Best thing I could have gotten this early in the morning. Thanks Emil!
I really loved the plastic carnifex kit. For me, it kickstarted my love for magnets and the model was just so menacing at the time.
Just wanna write a little something down here, super glad i stumbled upon this channel. I miss warhammer so much, from the US so aside from ordering theres not many stores left at least where I live. I remember getting my first box of 40k for a birthday when i was a kid, was tyranid gaunts. Walked by a games workshop in a mall near me and insisted that i collected every bit they had in that store. Suffice to say it didnt happen but it started something crazy, must've built 3 or 4 armies, even got warhammer units just to build and paint, was super young then so the employees at the store said warhammer mightve been too complicated to start with so they pushed me towards 40k. Anyways think my mom bought me the box about a month before my birthday actually was but i found the spot they were hid and no joke I sneaked a look at the box every single day leading up to my birthday lol. Sadly that store closed a year or 2 after that to my dismay, was hard pressed to find another spot that sold em at least to the same extent. I did managed to find another small hobby shop that had a select bit of some of the armies but they overpriced em even more. Then that placed moved and as the years went on they flexed out more and more of the warhammer for other more popular stuff. I still have a bunch buried away, this channel might be the inspiration i need to bust em out and pick it up again. And I'm sry lol, maybe i was a little late to the warhammer party but I always thought the older models looked hideous haha. Anyways just thought to leave a little note, found the channel last night, loving the vids I've spam watched and your painting skill is absolutely insane.
Love seeing these older models, really fun video
12:07 OMG. Love that mug!!!
lmao! paused it on your Playing metal little snippit… that's hilariously awesome! I had no idea
I'm a huge fan of the elf prince on griffin from island of blood. I was working at a flgs and I remember it being the first of the new age of sculpting at GW. I'm actively looking for one and they are all ~60$
For the 2000's the blood bowl human thrower from the 5th edition is probably the apex of white metai miniature!
Best combination of youtubers! Please do more of this
Found it: ruclips.net/video/-wWWzI3FIWc/видео.html
The new Mephiston is an awsome model, I just love the model and character, with the lore and everything. still have my old mephiston model from mid 90s when I got into the hobby
Love seeing old models painted by you guys. Makes me thing there is hope for me yet.
I really enjoyed this video. Looks like you guys had a blast
Black Reach was my entry point. Seeing this drive me right back, when I sit in dark cellars with friends playing, painting, building minitures and terrain. It was awesome!
Back then I already loved the Adeptus Mechanicus. However the army was released when my old group broke apart. Luckily I have new friends who play Warhammer 40k and after around 10 years I'm fully into the hobby again. And now with my beloved Ad Mech.
I think that the light of eltharion deserves an honourable mention because it's such an intelligent sculpt, the way it uses negative space is just fantastic and the clever ways in which the limbs are attached to the torso using the cloak is just inspired design work
Pretty surprised The Emperors Champion didnt get mentioned. Its one of my favourite sculpts and its super iconic. Great vid regardles :D
Some really great picks thanks
80's - Chaos Dreadnought, the one with the old crab claw.
90's - Avatar of Khaine, still holds up to this day, and who can forget the iconic black and white artwork with the dead space Marine?
00's - Dark Elf Corsair Champion with axe and severed head, looked just like Raziel from Soul Reaver, so an instant hit.
10's - kurnoth hunter with bow, absolutely gorgeous design.
Great video.
Sweet, I have that inquisitor model. Been meaning to strip it and a suitable replacement for the missing arm.
The Games Day 98 Nob is probably my fave GW minis ever.
For something recent i really like the Indomitus Chaplain, its a clear update on one of the half bionic headed chaplain from the mid nineties and it looks so good in its new version.
Yeah, the new Indomitus chaplain is great. Looks exactly like the updated version of the 90's chaplain, like you said.
Splendid as always lads
I would watch a 10 hour video of this. Just do your favorite from each army in each decade lol. Great job
Surprised not to see The Light of Eltharion - that took my breath away when I first saw it.
I'm really new to the hobby, so I don't really know how old or new something is, but easily my favorite GW release I've gotten to work with is the Putrid Blightkings box for Age of Sigmar Nurgle armies. Everything goes together well, and there are so many cool options included in the box.
Great video, from a group of awesome guys. Thanks. I love my old metal Warboss, there is just something about his ‘so’ angry face 😃 WAAAAAAAAGH!
Fantastic choices, I was also thinking of that metal thunder hawk :D
Awesome collaboration and well worth watching =)
I soooo agree with Miscast’s picks that I had to subscribe to his channel. You guys did a great job on this one, but in my mind, @miscast wins. I am probably older than you guys are, and i wished snotlings (hey... bought my first bloodbowl set ever just yesterday!) and ogres (not always dynamic though) would have been featured in this video, but still... the giant... gobbapalooza... I mean. The giant, I bought it way after it was released, but it was a dream coming true! And then as I speak, I am painting that magic potion making Goblin from the gobbapalooza set and it is so much fun!!! Seriously guys. This made my saturday morning!
early 2000's Archaon is literally the quintessential Warhammer Fantasy mini in my head from that time
I still have one NIB that I just pulled out of my closet as well as 2004 Chaos Warriors NIB. I just got back into the hobby and am so happy I still have those from my earlier days of loving Warhammer
wholesome, 10/10 content, would watch again
Were already one of my favourite youtubers and now found out about your music. Mind blown
Great video, a wonderful idea and nice people. Especialy Miscast-Man has a good tase in my oppinion.
You can make an another one with the best miniature of every year :)
The way that Ork Warboss brought y'all back, it was the Harlequin Shadowseer that brought me in when I saw it at a friend's house.
Hey thanks for picking my painted Ork dreadnought and crediting me !
Good choices lads !
Dude I LOVE the blog. Recently found it. The paint job is marvellous.
Would love to see more videos like this
Im loving all these collaborations between RUclipsrs I watch =)
The 80s were probably the most fun era for me with citadel miniatures, even though later during the 90s i would be producing injected moulds in a factory for GW, the 80s were just a bit more magical because i was a teen in that time, and the metal miniatures always felt like something special, the high impact polystyrene moulds for me, lacked the character and uniqueness that most metal minis had. I think my fav citadel mini in the 80s was Sir Loin Foul Breath the Minotaur, a massive axe in one hand, some talons for the other hand, hunched over and just so cool. Being bought up on early Sinbad films really got me into greek mythology at a young age, and when we discovered citadel, we all fell in love with the figures.
I had no idea you were in a band!! I found gunpoint salvation and loved it. You were in the band for such a long time, if you don't mind me asking, what led to the change in occupation, and hairstyle?
I'm really new to warhammer. The new goblins are what first caught my interest a few weeks ago. Best goblins I've ever seen, so i was happy they were mentioned.
"I asked two of my favorite youtubers to figure out which is the best model from each century"
I knew as a new player I'd have a lot of history to catch up on, but I didn't realize I was That far behind 😋
This was fun. I do think the Defiler deserves an honourable mention, it’s not the greatest model they’ve Made, but all the articulation points and extra bits have made for some really cool conversions and display poses. That first box came with so much stuff, I’m just now, nearly twenty years after I bought my Deffy, using the last of the spikes and demon faces and other chaosy bits with the chaos starter box I picked up last week.
Great vid as always, love to see Guy representing for the UK! My choice for the 80s, the Jes Goodwin C23 Ogre range :)
that the one with the 'tim the enchanter' ogre?
Great video. Loved it
I think one of my recent favourites was the Imperial Knight kit. It picked a model so obscure I barely remember it, never mind owning it and brought it kicking and screaming into modern times. It looks both noble and brutal thanks to the massive chainsword and it's been the canvas for some incredible paintjobs and some mindblowing conversions. It's become popular enough to spawn an entire army with it's own chaos spin-off.
The 2000's I'd say the best things that came out that I remember are the plastic Dread kit for space marines, and the plastic Land Raider. Both were a step up in detail and posability compared to anything else in the space marine lineup at the time, and the opening door and paintable interior on the land raider were amazing.
I'm still in love with the daemonettes from the 90s and 2000s
Love this, it’s like an avengers/justice league of all my favourite RUclips painters 😂
The "Assault on Black Reach" Set brought me into Warhammer Tabletop as well. The Deffcoptas in this Set are so well made and unique. Ive bought the set 4 times (3 times for less then 20€ in a random toy store)
Some great choices there! I totally agree about Archaon, he is still one of my favourite models and exemplified the new look for Chaos. Beefy, menacing and barbaric.
I overall like the lumineth, but they need the horns removed, and the giants need their heads replaced with something like scibor's Basing Kit #2.
I gotta get back into model building and miniatures I used to love doing this as a kid
Watching this video makes me think about my army of Valhallan Ice Warriors. Im realtivly new to the hobby, comeing up on my 2nd year in and I've already amassed a large collection because of how much I Enjoy it, but in my early days when I bought my first box of Tau my friends were telling me about the Imperial Guard and showing me what they looked like in the Killteam rulebook. I Was interested and started to look into the Imperial Guard when I found a video about the Valhallan Ice Warriors and I was hooked. I Dashed over to google to see if these madmen had any models and I was sad when I found out that they were no longer in print. I could find small groups of them on ebay, but nowhere near enough to make a whole army. So for a while I had been planning out how could I convert myself an army of Ice warriors through kit-bashing Bolt Action and guard kits. But then in Febuary they announced that for a limited time they would put the Valhallans back up on the market and It was like Christmas come early. I snatched up the platoon and I've worked hard to make these models the best in my collection, my first fully painted army, and by far the most striking. The Models in my opinion are just simply my favorite models in all of wargaming, there is just so much character in each of the sculpts that really just set the scene of the Relentless, unending Ice Warriors who will stop at nothing to achieve victory as well as they keep a soft spot in my heart as these old metal models from a faraway time, discontinued, but standing still and holding up rather well to even some newer models.
Eyy a new upload from papa squid👏👏👏🔥🔥
WIsh someone did a series on every models history and re-sculpts and old sculpts.
4:08 it's Mr Happy from the Mister Men.
Whoa, what was the metal band you were in? I never knew you did music lol
It was prolly a Bolt Thrower tribute band.
@King Juggalo as in was in a band, not just listened to music
Look up Zonaria - Silent Holocaust to see his band
Haha after seeing squidmar in the music video cant seem to shake the idea that they got it from him , with all the hair in the videos , very cool band by the way !
Oh man seeing Guy bring up Assault on Black Reach really hit me man. That was my introduction to the hobby. At the end of my 4th grade year my mom bought my brother and I that box set and a Tyranid Battle Force for my older brother and I before she went on deployment to Kuwait. My brother and I spent all summer painting models and playing 40k. I played Marines and he played Nids and I would lose almost every game we played but we had such a blast
1 minute in and I can tell that I'm in for some great wholesome hobby fun
No love for the Mortis Engine?! That sculpt is amazing.
Right lads, this video was superb. You three need to start doing some more content together or a podcast or something because I think you're really onto something here.
that 1 second of metal Emil stole the whole video loool
I'd probably say my favorite models are the Classic Noise Marine and Lord Kroak. Not the most flashy of models, but I really love their aesthetic.
