    Why do you always compare Canon 5D Mark iii to Nikon D800? This is a full review of this camera, right? Can you do a separate video if you really like to compare canon and nikon? Hmmmm.

    Perhaps the reason you didn't have to wait after the long-exposure shot is because you had long exposure noise reduction set to off?

    I shot a wedding video recently with a 5D Mark III, 70-200 2.8 IS II,24-70 2.8L, and 50 1.2L and to me? it's very amazing but it really depends what you shoot, and the new ISO helped a lot in low light situation when I was filming in a dimmed place and your advice helped me! 5D Mark III> 5D Mark II

  • @ase89cay

    the reason why i got the camera is because how many frames i can get. I usually take pictures of moving objects such as an eagle flying in the blue bright sky. the nikon d800 in my opinion are for objects that aren't moving as much or not at all such as modeling. But really i love both it's just what situations you use them in.

    I really wish the Canon 5D Mark III had a swivel screen and Auto Focus in Video Mode. I have no idea how they think that it's reasonable not to have decent video functionality, or at least as good functionality as the 70 D

      Natural Gallant Bodybuilding Like yours was, haha. The camera is for taking good photographs, not to have a swivel screen. This is for real photographers, not your average consumer who is just a casual user and only cares about stupid features and not the quality of their photos. Also, you say it has bad video, where is your proof Devinsupertramp uses this camera and takes phenomenal video with it.

    • @NaturalGallantBodybuilding
      @NaturalGallantBodybuilding 9 лет назад

      5.56 Only you really should read my comment again. I didn't say that it has bad video. I SAID that is has bad functionality when it comes to self filming. This is why the swivel screen would be a great addition. It has great video, which is why I think it would also be great to make this aspect as functional as the cameras of 1/4 the cost! Why not have good video function and photo function. Seems like a win win to me, when Canon has already proven that they can do this, because they have done so on the 70D

    • @YoungLordz666

      Little cosmetic features like a flip out screen are for casual photographers, and not for serious phtographers

    If you have to wait another 30 seconds after a long exposure that probably means that you have noise reduction on, which takes another exposure of the same length, that is why you have to wait. Practically no camera will take that long to store the image :)

    The horizontal and vertical meter CAN be viewed in the optical viewfinder! You just need to set the M-Fn button for that job. So you just hit M-Fn button and the level meter will be displayed in the VF.

    Am currently researching the very question of this camera in light of being a lifelong Nikon camera user. Much as I find your reviews consistently helpful, I therefore particularly appreciated the repeated references to the D800 in comparisons.

    Not sure if anyone else has mentioned it, but the levelling mentioned are 1:40ish can be viewed within the viewfinder. It is done by a system of the AF point indicators lighting up to show which way the camera is off level.

  • @AlexTichyDP

    You're showing the mirror, not the censor. But good review. However, as far as dynamic range, you can install a custom picture style like CineStyle. On the canon at least.

  • @TheHornet79
    @TheHornet79 11 лет назад

    Canon Full Frame cameras can only use EF Lenses. While Crop Sensors can use both EF and EF-S lenses. :P
    However, you can mount EF-S lenses on a Full Frame Camera by using an extension tube. Its about 80 bucks but if the EF-S lens goes to a 10mm or 30mm focal length, you will get alot of vignetting. Any EF-S will work (like a EF-S 60mm Macro) as long as the focal length is above 30mm on the EF-S lens.You could also add more extension tubes to remove vignetting on 10mm EF-S lens.

    As you'll know, it's a VERY expensive camera, so unless you have rich parents, it's gonna be a lot of saving. But I just got one and it feels great in the hands and is so responsive. Do you really need a camera this advanced at 14 years of age?

    I really love the detailed reviews that Mike does, but I really didnt like the fact that he just compared it to the Nikon equivalent. It was a Canon review, not a Canon vs Nikon. BUT still detailed. Great review.

    That'sthe problem! There'a always 'something better', but the 5D Mark III will always be a great camera. You don't always have to have the best. But I hope you do get it. I've only had mine for a few days but I love it. I am selling my 7D to pay for it. The 7D is a great camera, I would recommend it as long as you put a good lens on the front of it. Good luck with whatever you buy.

    Personally I think Nikon sensors are marginally better . I also think that Canon glass is marginally better . Canon a bit easier to use . Nikon a bit stronger in still photography , Canon much stronger in videography .
    My opinion based on what I have checked out in blogs , reviews , etc etc etc , and photographic results that I have actually seen . Both are great camera companies . Both manufacturer solid DSLR's .

    This isn't your typical point and shoot.
    Full frame camera's like the 5D will perform well in low light.
    Professionals wouldn't use a built in flash even if it was offered, like the Canon 7D or 60D.
    Built in flashes do not diffuse light evenly like a proper external flash or strobe.

    @photographerjonathan 12 лет назад

    why do you need them to do your reviews, you are very good at what you do, so do it on your own, only thing I wonder about this review is, what camera you would want yourself, I went back and forth for months trying to decide between the mark lll and D800, and owning glass wasn't part of my thought process, but I was a Nikon shooter, but I ended up buying the 5D mark lll, but now I have this new learning curve getting used to Canon, and I need more lenses, but the new 70/200 IS ll is amazing

    If you can use it to the best of it's ability or feel really dedicated to photography, then sure! But it's a very pricy camera. If you want to upgrade to something, but don't want to get rid of EF-S lenses (if that's what you have), just go for the 7D! But it's what you're comfortable with as well. I'm 16 and own a 5D mark III (and yes I mean I own it). It's an absolutely amazing camera and just completely surprised me upgrading from the 60D

  • @chictyler
    @chictyler 12 лет назад

    Are you sure you're not talking about micro 4/3 and other mirror-less cameras? I've never heard of a point and shoot surpassing $300. As for mirror-less cameras, if you're shooting all manual focus, then it's worth it, but if you need autofocus I suggest getting a DSLR. Reason being is that there still aren't that many lenses for micro 4/3, so you'd want to buy an adapter, which would take away all electronic functions in the lens. Also, if it's the same price, think about whether you need size.

    Hi Kelaa,
    I started off with iMovie and then moved on to Final Cut Pro X and I found this last one great to work with. It has everything you can imagine for when you are editing your footage; however, as with any semiprofessional editing software you need to learn to use it. If you have a Mac and decide to go with FCPX you can get the onetoone in-storre lessons Apple offers, or even yet you can find tutorials here on RUclips. One last thing check this site out FinalCutKing. Peace and good luck

    DSLR's will almost always have better image quality, and have the ability to have different, faster lenses. If you have the money, and don't care about the form factor, get a DSLR. There's always Micro mirrorless cameras if you want something smaller.

    It's good that the Mark III doesn't have a pop-up flash.
    Personally, they don't really belong on Any High End DSLR but that's just me.

    Who WOULDN'T use full manual focus in video? Canon didn't lack anything there, they probably thought that if people wanted to buy the MK III for video, they were "real" filmmakers, and no real filmmaker with respect for himself would use autofocus while recording.
