You've finally explained why I was incredibly skinny till I was seven and then everything changed. When I started school I suddenly got lots of sore throats/sinusitis/quinsies etc and in those days they handed out antibiotics like they were sweeties. I have struggled with my weight ever since. Thank you so much for sharing this knowledge. Now I can finally sort it out. I have already implemented intermittent fasting 21 hours a day, then eating one snack (like nuts and one piece of fruit), going for a long walk and then having a very healthy meal (lots of veg, some protein and some fat, almost keto except a bit more varied with the veg and fruit).
That was FANTASTIC ! Kiran Krishnan has done so much for us all through his work on the microbiome. Thank you for this presentation and thank you to Kiran for taking the time to share this information.
Hands down THE best interview I've ever watched on RUclips (and I've watched hundreds). Mega informative and mind blowing. Thank you again for sharing your invaluable knowledge @Kiran Krishnan and thank you to @Goodness Lover for not interrupting Kiran. Great interview style and excellent questions.
Kiran, Thanks for giving me hope. I had SIBO and am still struggling with unwanted weight gain. Will definitely share your knowledge with my healthcare providers.
What a joy to listen to Dr. Krishnan! As an R.N., I appreciated his depth of knowledge and the ease with which he could share it and make it understandable. I'm already drinking my home-brewed Kombucha daily and plain yogurt; occasional kim chee and sauerkraut, too. Now to find some akkermansia. I'd also be interested in where one can find a practitioner who does fecal implants. Thank you for hosting this great series.
Thank you, Denelle! The availability of FMT and the conditions it can be used to treat vary widely. You should be able to find general guidelines for your area as well as qualified practitioners by searching a bit online. Just let us know if you'd like some help! xx
This is the best Krishnan video I've listened to yet. He explains how to balance gut dysbiosis so well. I wonder how mold mycotoxins and heavy metals disrupt the microbiome and how/if pro- and prebiotics can help while detoxing.
Thank you for sharing your lovely feedback! Both mold mycotoxins and heavy metals can significantly disrupt the microbiome by promoting an imbalance in gut bacteria and weakening the gut lining. This disruption can lead to dysbiosis, where harmful bacteria outnumber the beneficial ones, causing inflammation and potentially triggering a range of health issues. During detoxification, pro- and prebiotics can indeed be beneficial. Probiotics help repopulate the gut with beneficial bacteria, while prebiotics provide the fiber these bacteria need to thrive. However, a careful approach is essential, as introducing these in the presence of ongoing exposure to mycotoxins or metals may be less effective. Detox support products-such as activated charcoal or specific binding agents under professional guidance-can also help in binding and eliminating toxins from the body, which, in combination with gut-supportive supplements, can gradually restore a balanced microbiome.
This makes me understand why I have lost weight at certain times but not other times. Inflammation is a huge issue for me... now I have a few keys to work with!
Wow, I am glad I had a pen and a notebook! so so much useful and helpful information. I like the way, Kiran Krishnan explains these scientific facts in a simple language that everyone can understand. Awesome job, I love it and I appreciate it.
This is amazing information. I have done everything to change my gut biome (diverse diet, getting out in nature, IF, 2 dogs, dark chocolate and other polyphenols, resistant starches, exercise). I am now working on healing my possible leaky gut - hopefully that's the remaining issue I have! I'm going to look into the megaspore probiotic to lose 10 pounds, though. It does sound like looking at weight loss (and other health issues) from a gut microbiome standpoint rather than thinking it's just our metabolism is a game changer. Dr Josh Axe talks about this too. I can't wait until we do get the probiotic prescriptions for weight loss and acne! It sounds like they're on the way.
The therapeutic potential of prescription probiotics is boundless! Did you see our interview with Dr. Pedre about healing leaky gut? Here it is, in case you missed it ~ ruclips.net/video/wN3uhW29cXE/видео.html/.
I watched this video and knew immediately what I needed to do. I have had stomach issues for years-IBSD. I have also had weight issues since I had my right thyroid gland removed. I added both keystone microbes to my diet a few days ago. I feel better, but I expect to feel even better as time goes on. I changed my diet, adding lots of fiber and water, putting them in smoothies once a day. I feel full longer and less hungry. I feel full all the time, but my caloric intake, with fruits, vegerables, and even some meats stays around 420 per day. My doctor is directing my weight loss regimen and she praises the probiotic regimen wholeheartedly! I add spinach, kale, chia seeds, sweet potatoes, and nuts to my smoothies to take in many nutrients I would otherwise miss. I am 69 years old. I hope to live long enough to watch mu 7 year old grandson graduate from college!
Thank you for sharing your experience with our video! It sounds like you've made some wonderful changes to your diet and lifestyle, and we're thrilled to hear that you're already feeling the benefits. It's also great to hear that your doctor supports your probiotic regimen and is guiding your weight loss journey. With your dedication to these healthy changes, you're on a strong path to achieving your goal of watching your grandson graduate from college. Keep up the great work, and thank you for your support!😊
Incredible discussion....he had some gems that l had never heard before yet were so practical to our daily life. This session was AWESOME and l will definitely have on repeat. Thank you 🙏🏾💓
So good to learn that klebsiella and clostridia make you fat. I have learned from your podcast with Dr. Hawryluk on his website that pomegranate husk is the antimicrobial for these bad bacteria. Do you know where I can purchase it in Canada? Thank you!
This was so amazing and just what I needed to hear. Thank you so much. I will be checking him out! You guys are great!. My husband is being tube fed and has been having so much bloating and gas! I believe he has leaky gut. He had about 4 rounds of antibiotics starting in the hospital for a collapsed lung and infection. It took weeks to get better. Then after that he had to have them again several other times. Now this distended belly!!!! So he went on MEGASPIREBIOTIC and a prebiotic. But is did not solve his problem. So I will check out Kiran Krishnan to see what he says.
This was the best interview yet! Thank you for this presentation and thank you Kiran for being willing to get this information out. The one question I have is where to find the right probiotic and prebiotic for the micro biome.
Hi, Lori! When shopping for probiotics, it is recommended that one choose products with high CFUs (colony-forming units) that are third-party tested. As for prebiotics, the gut loves a diversity of fibers. To support a broad variety of microbial species in your gut, consume a broad variety of prebiotics. So glad you enjoyed this episode!! See you again soon! 💕
Is there a link to the study mentioned about how your microbiome is changed by someone else in your surroundings taking antibiotics? Sounds pretty alarming...
Absolutely amazing information. I have opposite problem. I eat clean, take my vitamins, go to the gym, work in the garden but I can't gain weight, which I lost 4 years ago. Help, please.
Hi, Lidia! Many underlying factors could contribute to an inability to gain weight. It would be best to consult a healthcare professional who can assess your health history and any other symptoms you may be experiencing in order to best determine what steps you can take. Let us know what you discover!
That's a great question, Kenzie! Hashimoto's is an autoimmune condition that is believed to be linked to inflammation that begins in the gut. Autoimmune conditions often have many layers of complexity and as such it is best to seek personalized medical advice regarding one's treatment plans.
I found the first part hard to listen to and also same material but 35 minutes in working out for 20 minutes before a meal helps blunt leaky gut helpful

Can someone please suggest what kind of pre and probiotic supplements to purchase?
Hi, Deepthi! It is best to refer to your primary care provider for individual recommendations.
I am going to look at his website. I think it is important to find a well versed Naturopath doctor or a functional doctor. They are not all the same.
