Ashley killed Doug because in 3 days the court would hear the results of her psych evaluations. The poisoning allegations were already proven false. Yet Ashley continued to lie. Ashley needed monthly child support checks as she has no education and cant pay her bills other than to latch on to older Navy/pilots for money. She was even engaged to another man while telling Doug they were moving to Bowie, Maryland for a fresh start. Ashley also sounds like a 13 year old with vocal fry. 😅😅
Ashley Benefield comes of as a malignant narcissist. People who use kids as weapons are likely to be high in narcissistic traits, as they don't care that their aggression hurts the children. They only care that they succeed in hurting the child's other parent. Mothers are more likely to use children this way because it is an exploitation of the resource held by the mother, maternal bonding. Young children are most dependent on the mother. So disturbed mother's see them as tools to aggress the father. The general term for this is parental alienation.

The daughter is going to be biased. How an abusive narcissist behaves towards their victim, and how they behave towards others is very different. I knew Doug Benefield. He did some real estate business with my office in Charleston and we share mutual friends as well. He was always mild mannered and definitely not a hot head. I was saddened to hear this incident occurred. I can't speak for Ashley as I've never met her. RIP Doug.

Let me say that both her and mother are fake Christians taking advantage of elderly, and men to get their bills and rent paid. You see, they lost the middle class lifestyle once her parents divorced. Not a lawyer, but a potential juror. IDK that she sounded "uncredible". I've known men who behaved liked that, and no doubt that if he shot in the ceiling, the bullet is likely still lodged there. Also, found on Law & Crime website that he admitted to "pulling a gun out of its sleeve and shooting at the ceiling - even throwing the gun against the wall - in an effort to get Ashley Benefield to be quiet during an argument." Marrying a woman 2 weeks after you meet at a Republican fundraiser, with a 30 year age difference...... not exactly a recipe for "success". Shouldn't be a death sentence either, but older men can quite often be irrationally insecure around a younger, attractive mate. So this is anyone's guess.

Punching the wall is not domestic violence, thats property damage. She's doesn't sound credible. I agree with the judge.
This messed up woman planned to marry this man, have his kid and then murder him and take every penny he had. She needs to be put away for life so she doesn't do this again.

There are many examples of women who died at the hands of an abuser, but when a woman defends herself, she's punished by society and ostracized. Damned if you do, and damned if you don't...

Why would this man go to the lengths of agreeing to perform a reverse vasectomy and have a child with her and then go on to try to kill his child even before it was born so probably just a couple of months after she became pregnant? It doesn't make sense, He could have poisoned her afterwards sure, even though I don't believe that at all. And by making her pregnant and then kill her he would risk a double murder charge too? I'm not certain of the laws, is it in Florida? But if the laws says an unborn child count's as a life as well, a double murder would make him eligible for the death penalty? In that case it makes even less sense. Hopefully they take this up if this goes to trial
I’m a victims advocate and I can tell you in my view that this testimony is rubbish. The guy made her tea too hot !! And then he ‘threatens’ her (complains) that she is ungrateful for not drinking it . This is not spousal abuse . It’s an emotional response to her complaint. Next , this gun stuff and her conversation on the phone . This is cubby house combat. All couples do this at some time ! Complain !! None of this constitutes DV. Her victimisation is difficult for her to articulate fluidly and give compelling events or reports to police or counsellors etc. send her to trials !!! On the tone of that pathetic recital I’m confident that any jury will still find it incomprehensible for her to be standing her ground from a hallway away and not get to a phone or retreat in time to limit her liability . Meaning, had she have moved away and Then he advances toward her ; would be an acceptable Defence. Why not shoot to scare or aim for the leg , maim or anything else from that distance. She’s a decisive woman! . She could have directed it a little more convincingly.

You are a disgrace to victim advocacy... The events described by the accused sounds like many abuse survivors; I grew up in a household of DV. I grew up with police and others not believing my battered and bruised mother. I would have loved for my mother to stand up to her abuser and defend us like this woman, but we would have been awarded to the state, and she'd have gone to jail...😢

He says he used honey, but antifreeze is hella sweet and one Georgia "black widow" used it to kill her fire fighter and police partners... Don't judge based on preconceived notions. Ashley Benefield looks very much like a narcissist who was attempting to drive her husband crazy, perhaps to cause him to kill himself. There is a known psychological profile of martyr type malignant narcissism, which may apply here. She presents herself as a victim in order to mask her true motive of harming the man who is now dead. In fact, she used their child as a weapon against its own father.
It sounds a bit deja vu from the Depp/Heard case as well, when she managed to wear him down to the point he almost killed himself.. What does "vocal fry"mean?

I don’t know anything about this case, first time hearing her speak, but she just accurately described my physically, verbally abusive ex husband whom my 4 children and myself survived! Is she telling the truth or has she done extensive research?
Not the be rude, but why don't you take the time to research this case. There's a lot to this case for someone to take the time to explain everything to you. Also, Court TV has a comment with a link to an article regarding this case. Simply click on it and you'll have your answer. Watching a 15 minute video when this case has been going on since 2018 isn't going to give you the info you need. 🙄
She's done enough research to know how to invent a tale which elicits great sympathy for herself. The judge in the custody case found her to be without any credibility. The judge probably wondered, 'If this woman can come into my court with such grand fabrications, maybe she really is dangerous.'

He wasn't a bad guy, but I believe her when she describes these moments of his frustration. A relationship with younger woman can drive or lead to the male's inability to regulate his emotions. And the personalities in this couple simply grew to clash.
