      1. The fact that you even *sinned* this show is disgraceful (in jest, ofc)
      2. Do you really make paid exclusives? Are they at least timed? I'm cool with supporting early releases, but making stuff that you can only see if you become a patron...? The fact that I could have missed out on this video if you didn't decide to make this public really kinda stinks.

I binge watched this show, including the latter half during a very slow day at work (no clients means free time on my hands by the hour). I got emotional in episodes 9 and 10, successfully able to hold back tears. Though, probably very stiff faced.
But episode 11 broke the floodgates for me. I could not not cry when I watched the episode in growing dread that the soldier would not live. Oh. My. Gosh. Episode 11 still gets me the most out of all of them.

Ep 7 will never fail to make me sob uncontrollably. And there are 2 movies, 1 is like an extra long episode but the other picks up from where the show leaves off. • @CantiSama

For the Netflix translation of the line at 16:22, the letter reads "Dear brother, I'm happy that you are alive. Thank you." Which I actually like better for just how emotionally raw it reads. It's a small change since both of the translation get the point across, but one I prefer just because it stuck with me during the first time watching. It also exactly what Luculia says at 16:06 and aids with Violet's development since, this being her first "successful" letter, she just recites what her client said and not interprets it like how an autodoll is trained to do. She's still literal, like with her previous clients, but shows she is now aware what she needs to get across when writing.
The Netflix translation could be totally wrong or whatever and all what I typed might not really matter, but that line hit me like a truck when I first read it and would have most likely not of hit as hard if I read this version's translation first.
    Small rant over, lol

Kyoto Animation went so hard on this they broke my "what makes a good anime" scale. Everything from the character design, backgrounds, animation, sound design/voice acting, to the amazing show-don't-tell/dialogue based world and character building was god tier anime. Like this is Cowboy Bebop perfection for me. Mother's Basement said it best: this anime is the art of the ugly cry. The way they progressively showed characters dealing with loss, trauma, survivor's guilt and finding your place in the world were "Grave of the Fireflies" level feels. Last time I cried that hard was the class role call at the end of Assassination Classroom.

And to say I feel every word of that episode, from the child not understanding and trying to squeeze every moment she can with her mom, trying to distract from the pain, to reading the letters later and just knowing how it feels to see them. Even though my mom's still with me (blessed be) I still try and cherish every day with her, because you never know when your parent could be taken from you.

I just recently finished Violet Evergarden and I have to say, the constant feeling of melancholy throughout all moments of the show, whether during happiness or sadness just mesmerizes me. They really nailed that back from war, or missing piece vibe. The anime to me describes the extreme sadness and pain that the times of war brought to both the soldiers, their families, and ordinary civilians living around them. Artstyle and animations in this anime are probably the best I've seen in terms of realism and how it feels like you're there. The music and sound effects bring so much emotion and depth towards words, scenery, and expressions. Characters feel like people you are forced to meet and get along with in the beginning, but at the end they feel as if they are best friends you've known your whole life. Not to mention the development of certain characters. Keeping this short and to the point ( as much as I can 🙃), Violet's character is displayed extraordinarily through indifference and contrast in emotions, viewpoints, and lifestyle. You can feel the pain behind every cough, the exhaustion from every breath, and the sadness from every tear. The lack of intensity in music or scenery or voice acting really compliments the slow and melancholic theme of Violet Evergarden and how not even time can heal deep emotional wounds that will cause excrutiating pain no matter how much time passes; only finding the courage to pick yourself up and continue moving forward towards the future can cover up those pains in your heart.
I loved this anime through every bit and will procede to try and better myself with the messages that the anime portrayed to me. The story is so moving and sad. Truly a masterpiece.

What I love about this show even more than the animation os the sound design. Like the typewriters, the sound Violets arm makes when it falls off, and the metal on metal clinking noises of her hands. Also, what is being referenced in win 42? Is it the Kyoto Animation arson attack?

So Ive cried just because I saw the scenes from this materpiece again in this video. It really shows how this stuck to me. I almost wanted to call in sick at work because I was so depressed after watching this and the movie until 2 am. Ive never cried more in my life ever and to think its because of an anime is just crazy to me. This will probably be my favourite anime forever.

I haven't watched it recently, in fact it has been a couple of years since I watched it, but just seeing some of the visuals and hearing the music, I was balling my eyes out. Probably the best anime I have ever watched. Good job getting through it and the tissue industry profiting. Thank you

Man, I remember when I watched this series knowing nothing of it and I was truly astonished by the emotions this show makes you feel.
I was a mess at the end of each episode but episode 10 was a struggle to get through (in a good way), I really just couldn't believe what I was watching, it felt so real.
I was crying just watching this video it was so good.
It helps that music, editing, voice acting and animation are on point in this show.
That being said the last episode really felt strange to me.
Like, I liked the ending enough but it left me feeling like something was wrong with it, Idk how to explain it better.
I think there are a couple of movies of this series.
Watching this video really made me want to see them soon.
Man, I gotta prepare myself, this series just hits you right in the feels.
Truly a beautiful anime, in every sense of the word.

The scene where Violet crosses the pond and the one with the mom’s future letters to her daughter are some of the most emotional and tear jerking scenes I’ve ever seen in media as a whole. Others that get me like that would be Kaori’s letter to Kousei in Your Lie in April, along with the endings of Plastic Memories and Angel Beats. Another great one is the song ‘Traveling Soldier’ by The Chicks. I always love when any kind of entertain medium can make you feel those emotions. Like this anime, it connects you with the human part of ourselves and allows you to feel something very hard to describe.

The birthday letters destroyed me, I never really cried at all when watching anime, if I did, its so far in between, i'll cry for a that one scene but not for the rest.
BUT THAT EPISODE SHOULD BE ILLEGAL, i started crying when the child started to cry and we realized she understands whats going to happen, I stopped crying for a few scenes, THEN THE MOM DIED AND CRIED AGAIN, then the big reveal happened and i tried my hardest not to cry,
because at that point, i was using up all our tissues, BUT FAILED, THEN VIOLET CRIED AND THEN I CRIED, AND THEN WE DIDNT HAVE ANY MORE TISSUES.
