The Nagaland Chamber Choir is privileged to represent India and Nagaland at World Choir Games that is being held at Gangneung, South Korea. Many of the Choir members are working professionals and inspite of their busy schedule, they could make time for 3 to 4 hours of intense rehearsals a day for the last one year. An opportunity created by sheer merit upon meeting the criterion set forth by the World Choir Games organisers. The choir qualified for the World Choir Games, it wasn't recommended or invited. With the prayer support from well wishers they could make it thus far.
The choir contested under two category and for which 4 songs each needs to be presented before the jury.

The Choir is led/conducted by Maestro Hito kiho, renowned conducter from Nagaland who is also a faculty of Nagaland Conservatory of Music college at Dimapur.
Please remember that TNCC is the only choir from India to qualify for this event. Sheer hardwork and dedication is the result of this. Most of the songs are composed by Naga composers. Hats off to TNCC. May they come back with success and glory to God.

I wish we respect our own, composer of the song Mr. Lipokmar Tzudir. Technically tough music with creative art are selected with a purpose to compete in World stage. Critical views are well taken and appreciated.
Many Nagas aren't respectful of Or happy with each other's success , feeling sorry for them.

Thank God that TNCC won in both categories they participated. At one point of time it was difficult to say whether they could participate because of financial constraints. However because of well-wishes they were able to. I do hope in future the govt. Both state and centre sponsor when talents represent the country.

This is awesome, composing the song and executing it like this in a foreign platform is just outstanding. Its not a common Gospel choir type we hear in Nagaland, its a blend of Indian classical music and all kinds of sounds in India which they are representing. Lets see things in positive way sometimes.

This choir is representing North East and Nagaland....
If you think that this is the only song they have sung, it's surely disappointing. Not for the way it was sung but the song just didn't have enough to showcase their abilities.
But
This was one of the many songs they sang. Makes sense to diversify and bring a different flavor to the songs to break the monotony of the other powerful and Naga sounds influenced songs.

2. On what basis are winners to be selected?
3. I see at least three venues for this Games. Are performances to be done at all venues?
4. What are the prizes on offer?
5. How was NCC selected to represent India, considering there are other choirs in other parts of the country?

3. There are many categories including children
4. Gold, silver and bronze.
5. TNCC qualified as per their performance from the previous competition in Srilanka 2017. They got 2 silver meda and 2 gold diplomas in that competition which led to direct qualifications into this year event.
And they have won 2 Gold Medal respectfully.. ❤

Not an expert nor a cynic but from a laymans perspective.. Appreciate the effort and as a Choir I have listened growing up without any disrespect or bad intentions i just felt it did not feel home or comfortable seeing such dances and arrangement of the song.. Something original in terms of adding a little more folk, more Naga wud have been great coz Nagaland is also India right.. but if this was just one of ur many songs then tats ok👍 just my opinion only though..🙏 Stil a fan of NCC... 👍
Music is a divine blessing and it is essential that we preserve its true essence without misrepresentation. This specific tune and accompanying dance form are intricately linked to the worship of the Hindu deity Shiva. While I hold no objection to the artistic aspect of it, as a Christian I believe it is inappropriate to promote such practices using the Name Naga because I am One and I don’t condone it. I’m a fan of NCC but this was disappointing.

@@kiks_Naga there's nothing more happiness and proud moment than our choir winning the competition. Obviously,all the comments were made because we all really wanted them to present the best to win it , also the judges knows the best and eventually our choir won . Great moment of happiness for all our Naga people

music students will know but for a nobody like me ...i think the category where they did not use lyrics or words is called ' descant ' one where words arent used but they are rather judged by how they make their own sounds, harmonies, musical complexity of techniques etc . And they use indian sounds in this category while the first one where they sang in sumi dialect was the one with word lyrics. Coir or music students have organised concerts or competitions in their school and i have attended it . They are also judged and made to sing without words but rather a whole song is made only with sounds and harmonies . Truely magnificent.

Because this is world stage. Creativity and uniqueness matters. Why are you not encouraging? Even if you don't like it. Your opinion doesn't matter. There are many people from other countries who likes it.
Appreciate the effort of the choir but there is a big difference between creativity and craziness. Trying to be unique and new trendsetter is appreciable but it have to be in tandem with meanings and purposes.
