    1. Various of Jimmy Chérizier, known as "Barbecue" walking on school construction site
HEADLINE: Haiti gang leader warns foreign armed forces
ANNOTATION: Haiti’s powerful gang leader Jimmy Chérizier, best known as “Barbecue,” has vowed to fight any international armed force deployed to the country.
    2. SOUNDBITE (Haitian Creole) Jimmy Chérizier, gang leader:
“If they come to the community ghettos and start shooting and massacring, we Haitians will rise up and fight them to the last drop of our blood. It will be a fight of the Haitian people to save our dignity and our country.”
    3. Various of soldiers patrolling
ANNOTATION: His remarks come as the government pushes for the deployment of a foreign force to fight gangs which control most of the capital Port-au-Prince.
    4. Various of displaced residents on school grounds
ANNOTATION: Kenya has offered to lead a multinational force, and the U.S. says it wants a non-U.N. multinational mission to travel to Haiti.
ANNOTATION: Ongoing gang violence, which has surged since the assassination of President Jovenel Moise in 2021, has displaced nearly 200,000 Haitians.
    STORYLINE:
An ex-police officer considered by many to be Haiti’s most powerful gang leader warned on Wednesday that he would fight any international armed force deployed to the Caribbean country if it committed any abuses.
Jimmy Chérizier, best known as “Barbecue,” also urged Haitians to mobilize against the government. “We are asking the population to rise up,” he said at a news conference.
Prime Minister Ariel Henry, who has led Haiti since the July 2021 assassination of President Jovenel Moïse, has been pushing for the deployment of a foreign armed force since October to help fight powerful gangs that are estimated to now control 80% of the capital of Port-au-Prince.
In late July, the African nation of Kenya offered to lead a multinational force, and the U.S. said earlier this month that it would put forward a resolution in the U.N. Security Council to authorize a non-U.N. multinational mission.
Chérizier said he would welcome a foreign force if it were to arrest the prime minister and people he described as corrupt politicians and local police allegedly selling ammunitions and guns in Haiti’s slums.
But he said Haitians would rise up if any international force repeated the actions of previous U.N. peacekeepers, including committing sexual abuses and inadvertently introducing cholera into water sources.
The United Nations had no comment, U.N. spokesman Stephane Dujarric said.
Chérizier, who has been accused by authorities of masterminding several massacres in recent years and of organizing a fuel blockade last year that paralyzed Haiti for nearly two months, said the group he leads, G9 Family and Allies, is no longer warring with another group known as G-Pep.
Chérizier is the only Haitian under U.N. sanctions, with the Security Council saying he “has engaged in acts that threaten the peace, security, and stability of Haiti and has planned, directed, or committed acts that constitute serious human rights abuses.”
He called on the Ministry of Education to reopen schools in Cite Soleil and other slums that have been closed because of warring gangs who are raping and killing people.
The violence has displaced nearly 200,000 Haitians whose homes have been torched by the gangs.
Chérizier spoke to nearly two dozen journalists at an outdoors construction site in Port-au-Prince.

The question is who does the Haitian citizens support, the government or the gangs. Do they see the gangs as liberators? Any country going there in the name of freeing the Haitians must realize that innocent lives will be lost in the process, that's unavoidable. Haitians have a tendency to blame everyone for their issues and never look in the mirror. If you help them you're an oppressor there to steal their 'riches' if you don't help they will say the world abandoned them. If the government regains power with foreing help they will say its a puppet government and the leaders are corrupt. They will find themselves in this same situation maybe 10yrs down the road. Sorry to say but Haitians dont come across as the most rational people. There is no win for anyone in this situation Haiti is a nation who have to help themselves but they are in no position to do so.

"Haitians have a tendency to blame everyone for their issues" well mf if people are coming in to your country and taking your resources and depriving you of it, who the hell else is there to blame?? Did you even know what America did to Haiti during the earthquake? Na. The president of Haitis asassination was led by 2 Americans. But yet you will sit here and claim they blame everyone but themselves. America plays a huge part in Haitis downfall but yall dont want to admit it

The real issue is the the " elite " class in Haiti do not want order. They sold their country to the west in form of natural resources. Allot of these gangs are in for themselves yes of course but what this guy wants is the elite to stop stealing from the poor. Look into it more and you will see

Because you’re naive. 💁🏼‍♂️ You have entirely too much faith in “democracy” and they know better through experience. This “democracy” which you speak of would just be some control by other world powers. “Democracy” how you envision it is far from fool proof. In fact I don’t know anywhere that has it.
You’re being lied to. The world is far more corrupt than you know. Where this trust of government you have comes from is through the lies and propaganda fed to you from birth.
Simply put, these gangs who are living there know something that you don’t. I personally think they’re absolutely awful however your question is asked out of ignorance of how the world really works.
Their last “democratic” president was assassinated and the current one isn’t allowed in the country and the US are telling him to resign. 😂
You’re asking for the US to swoop in and replace their government with a proxy that the US appoints. Under the guise of “democracy”. Look how well that works out. Ukraine for example, or Afghanistan.
You seem to think the US are ”the good guys” who genuinely want to “help”. 😂 I think you should think about it. Maybe that’s a naive veiw of things.

I think this would be a wonderful opportunity to pause for a moment and give thanks for the great contributions of the black community to our society. Their peaceful and generous nature makes them ideal neighbors, lending testimony to their exceptional family values and parenting skills unrivaled by any other culture. Their child-rearing practices and skills mixed with their unparalleled work ethic are second to none. Their rational and logical thought toward circumstances coupled with their innate capability to de-escalate situations is to be envied and coveted. Their commitment to academic excellence enriches our schools and serves as an example to all who hope to achieve prominence as a people. Real estate values are fueled by the mix of the black communities in an area due to the caring and respectful nature of these communities, an example of all they have achieved through their enthusiasm for self-improvement, hard work, and self-reliant nature. Without their industrious and creative drive, we would be poorer as a nation.

I agree but I credit OUR BLACK BROTHERS the Ancient Egyptians who gave this WORLD its civilization FIRST i.e. before anyone else. Why did the Greeks and Romans trek down into Africa to LEARN from the Ancient Egyptians?
Because they couldn't learn anything in Europe except how to freeze and fight.
Our people taught them law, medicine, science, agriculture, literacy, mathematics, writing, inventions of the wheel, lock and key, the door, glass, paper, the boat, alphabet, libraries ... want more?
Gold, silver, diamonds, copper all precious metal (the list is to long ) wine, baking, architecture, pyramids hence skyscrapers or vertical building, masonry, the block ( road system i.e city blocks ) government political systems, taxes, 1st world recognized powerful leader presidents i.e Pharaohs.
Inventions of artificial colors i.e paint and ink and dye, musical instruments guitar, trumpets, flute, drums, stock market, the prototype rocket ( i.e the shape of a bullet or rocket is from the african spear shape ).
Discovery of electricity, 1st space explorer to name the unknown distant planets from mars to Pluto and other galaxies i.e milky way etc.
Deposit banking system, food seasoning, furniture, the bed, the rug, hospitals, schools, shopping malls, policemen, jails, mail carriers, surgeons, wedding rings, army and navy, the circus, olympic games organized sports, board games like chess, religion the ma'at or first bible, the cross, philosophy, suntan lotion, SOAP, toothbrush, hair braiding, jewelry, the chariot or prototype four wheel car, calendar, the time sand watch, the ring, bracelets, best farming techniques, the writing pen, coins, the sword, perfume etc.
I could go on but I'll stop the spanking right there ... lol.
So I think we black people lead the way and the WORLD had to learn and follow. The world had to use and copy ALL of our inventions to make their lives better.
Or we would still be in the stone age.
      ....
