  • This is my ranting and raving about these amazing two cameras,
They are so different in functionality and aesthetics but identical in results.
What are the reasons to get either one???

When in doubt, always buy more cameras.

I ended up with both the XH2 and XT5 too. I was using the XH2 and XT2 on a harness at events (different focal length on each). While that let me work faster moving around an event (grabbing the XT2 at times for example with a wide prime), the gap between the two was getting frustrating. Slower to focus and while the quality of the files from the XT2 was still excellent, I'd got used to being able to get extra crop on the XH2 when I wanted to.
I held off for a while after the XT5 came out, but have no regrets. It's nice that they produce the same files when using both for work. For personal use, I usually take the XT5. I love holding and using it. (the exception is if I'm taking the 100-400mm lens out for wildlife... the XH2 with smallrig cage is much better ergonomically with the big lens).
I agree with the buffer clearing and speed of CF Express. It's fantastic. I was concerned about card cost at first, but that's coming down. Now I'd be happy if the XH2 had 2 CF Express slots.

The XH2 definitely handles the larger lenses a little better. I really want the 33, new 56 and the 18 1.4. Their size and new motors will work great with these cameras:)

I have the XT5 but I set it up to use like my DSLR and control it via front and rear command dials. I also have a 23 1.2 Voigtlander to enjoy the manual experience.

I only use my XT-5 for everyday use and for travel. My dance photography camera is my X-H2s. I also plan on purchasing an X-H2.

Great review Looks like u really can’t go wrong with either camera, im also disappointed the didn’t make a battery grip for the XT5 but the L bracket does help. Interesting to see you don’t take a spare camera on a gig, you mentioned you leave the Xt5 at home. I must have a lot of bad luck, over 15 years i have had 6,7 situations were the backup camera has saved my day.

This helped me decide. XH-2 for me. I had the XH-1 and loved the way it felt in on grip but traded for an XT-4. No regrets. X-E3, XT-4 and XH-2. Knowing me, the XT-4 will sit and eventually be sold but not the X-E3!!

Completely feel you man. My first impression when having the XH2 in the hands was… I don’t like this camera. This feels more like a Sony and not a Fuji camera. I missed the control dials, the focus mode switch and the joystick is a little high for my thumb to reach but I knew it was an amazing camera on paper so I decided to keep it as my workhorse camera. I happen to have a X-Pro 1 which is the absolute opposite of the XH2 and I use it as my personal camera when I miss that authentic Fuji feel along with a couple of film cameras.

I use an X-T4 in addition to the X-E4 and the X-T30 and was actually thinking about switching when the X-T5 came out. But it was precisely the reasons you mentioned that led me to the X-H2. The CF Express was just one of the leading arguments. I bought it and am very happy with it. And if I ever fancy a vintage design again, I still have the X-T4.

I do love the XT4 but the smaller form factor of the xt-5 is really great. It’s tiny!! You can get 11 or $1200 for your xt4. Just a thought:)

    •  Год назад

Yes, it really is amazing. Almost no Fujifilm camera loses much value. I'm still being offered around 300 euros for my original X100 Fuji.
In fact, 1200 to 1400 US dollars is quite realistic. With Smallrig cage and a few spare batteries, you could easily get more. But I love it and wouldn't want to sell it at the moment. The X-H2 and the X-T4 are a great package that is really fun to shoot with.@@jasonberkmanphotography8672

The battery part surprised me because with my xt3 I need like 6 batteries when shooting a wedding haha. I’m moving to the Xh2 soon and I’m glad to hear that the battery life got better. I remember when the xt4 came out they said the battery life was better and it was. But still it wasn’t great.

Thank you. Very nice. Had XH2 that got stolen. Replace it with the XT5 for 2 major reasons. Size. As a landscape guy (getting older) every oz. counts. Second the way the screen flips. Nearly impossible to use it with an L bracket. Perfect instead on the XT5. Best

I mostly shoot wildlife, and currently have a Lumix G9 and the Pana/Leica 100-400. It's a fantastic setup, but I have been eyeing the G9 mk2 for the better auto focus. Having spent some time with Fuji in the past, I've considered getting into Fuji instead. The 70-300 with the 1.4TC wouldn't be quite the same reach as what I have now, but with the extra pixels I could make it up by cropping.
What concerns me is that the buffer on the X-T5 seems... comically small, and I don't relish the thought of needing to buy CF-B cards to get the most out of the X-H2.

Pretty clear. However I’m still on the fence for my second bodyw I have an XT5 which I love. I’m a professional too but more in a candid, discrete style. So not so much interest in bigggg burst mode shooting (although it can be useful from times to times to catch a crucial moment, but majority of the time I take my time and i’m discreete!). I need a second body because I prefer to have two primes on each instead of a standard zoom (and also it gives me a back up camera). I hesitate between an XH2 (I may be interessed in the 50-140 in the future, for receptions and live events, artist works), or a second XT5. The benefit of two XT5 must be to have the same ergonomics , easier for my brain to grab one or the other camera without too much thinking 😅 I’m not sure the C1-2-3-4-5-6-7 would be really useful for my style.

nice video! can you compare af on both? and how you find af on x-e4 + 50f1 vs x-h2 + 50f1? is it faster in afc mode? I've stuck a bit in situation when I bought x-e4 like a point and shoot edc camera, and ended up with full cage + mic for b rolls using 50f1 and 70-300 (even with 1.4tc sometimes). my main camera is a7s3, and fuji system was not planned like my main camera but oh boy I spent more than 3k$ on fuji glass already.. so should I switch? is af bothering you too much?

I am new to Fuji so I am not this fan boy that needs aperture ring on the lens and annoyed the PASM dial. I shot Nikon for years and now use a R6 for my portrait work so I needed muscle memory vs. Fuji nerdy things. I LOVE my XH2 for street/landscape. I am finding it very lens sensitive for portraits wide open. The 75mm 1.2 has the best hit rate of the lenses I own. The Sigma 18-50 is much happier at F5.6, my hit rate on a shoot a couple weeks ago was high 90% whereas at 2.8 it’s in the 70% range. I want to get the Viltrox 27mm as I am hearing it’s the same hit rate success as the 75mm. If my bag was stolen and I had to fully start over, I would get the X-H2s for the more stickier AF for my client work.

I haven't used a camera that has 2 different types of card slots (CF Express and SD), so I would appreciate it if you clarified a genuine concern I have about it. Is it true that if you want to shoot with backup then you can't reap the benefits of the fast buffer speeds of CF Express? If the camera is writing to CFExpress and SD at the same time for back up then you would still need to wait for the SD card to catch up. For working professionals using 2 cards is a must. So I don't see how the CFExpress is a plus if you can't have speed and redundancy at the same time.

Yes that’s correct. The only way around it would be using the sd card slot for overflow only.

The problem for me nos is that, as a casual photographer, I want the xt5.
That said, the xh2 is SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper (by around 400USD). On the fence between saving some cash and getting the xh2, or spending a little more for a better form factor

I had the 35mm 1.4 on the XT5 and the 50mm 1.0 on the XH2. I really need the 33mm for the linear motors and the new 56 for faster autofocus and smaller size:)

@@jasonberkmanphotography8672 just ordered the 35mm f1.4 r, I also own the 23mm f1.4 wr and the 56mm f1.2 wr. I used to own the 33mm f1.4 wr, but return it to get the 23mm, because of the 35mm focal equivalent. the new 56mm has a little bit slow AF, may be the same as the 35mm

Im so confused. I sold my fujifilm xs10 and 3 lenses. I just wanted something that had a soul. I ordered x100vi, but it's sold all over 😢😂 soo now im like... i want that fujifilm feeeeeel.. with the dials. I was thinking of xt5, but is that to big again? I hear people say it has a cheap feel to it... and i dont want the xs20, it looks so boring.. even if it's the best buck for ur money. I want something that can do great photo and do videos as well. Not so big! I dont know why im writing here.. i need a camera and i don't know which to buy 😅 now i regret selling my lenses.. i could've changed the camerabody.. hmm
