For sure I'll be going to Lake Atitlan and numerous places. Guatemala just took my breathe away when I first got there last year. So, hopefully I'll be able to experience more beauty & excitement!
I think I know your friend! He looks familiar. I was living in Antigua for a year. I from Honduras. Thanks I enjoy the video. Bring back good memories :)
Hey Max, thanks. I was actually there the week before Easter, so I got to experience some of the festivities leading up to the big day (and the massive crowds and traffic).
I just climed fuego volcano while eruption took place in antigua, totally cool and Safe. Then at the base of it i played golf in a magnificent country club with outstanding views. Tomorrow heading to guatemala city
Nice, have fun. As you can see below, someone told me the volcano hadn't been active for a couple years, and it then erupted the day after that comment was left. Have a good time in "The City."
I'm heading to San Pedro in Nov ..going to hang out with my step bro for a couple weeks ..I love to hike and am a morning person but then again sunsets too are sweet to watch !
Hi Terrie, I didn't have a guide, although I did meet up with a friend in Antigua. Guatemala certainly has a bit of a "traveler trail," and if you stay at certain locations (like Antigua), you'll find easy access to transportation and info to those highly visited areas (like Tikal).
That's funny, it my be just the video filter I applied to the video afterward (I'm kind of scaling that back for future videos). It was actually warm and completely clear the entire time. And I was there a year ago (the week before Easter).
Nice video. Note - Volcan Pakaya has not been active for a couple years now. And no, there is currently (and never has been) a McDonalds on the Arch Street. :)
This is true, but it makes for much more compelling commentary to say you're hiking on an active volcano that saying you're hiking on an active volcano that hasn't been active recently (impending death always makes for good video). And that's good news that rumor about a McDonalds hasn't come true yet!
Hey buddy, thanks for your quick reply. Awesome. One more question, have u been to Nicaragua? I heard Caribbean side is great there. Any input? I couldn't find any video of yours being in Nicaragua, so I'm not sure if u ever visited. Thanks a lot man. S.
Hey, great video, I wonder if middle may is a good time to visit? Also, can u please provide me the name of the place u stayed where u rested on a hammock on top of a hill. It was beautiful. Thanks
Hey Sebastian, I was there in mid-April, so it was a fantastic time to visit. I think May would be great too. Regarding the hammock, that was at a hostel/lodge near Semuc Champey called Zephyr (www.zephyrlodgelanquin.com/). I definitely recommend staying there. Also, the shower walls are only waist-high, so you look out on the valley while you shower, which is pretty awesome too.
Great video...but how can you compre Antigua to Detroit???? C'mon! Antigua as you know is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. There is nothing beautiful about Detroit. Again, great video.
I was there in April. It was actually quite clear, I think it was maybe the filter I was using. Sorry, maybe overdoing it with my new video editing program.
@@berner265 you can visit all the time, Guatemala is just beautiful all year round, it just gets even better during Semana Santa as it is a unique celebration like nowhere else in the whole world. Come to Guatemala and you will see I am not lying to you.
I’m curious why you said a McDonalds is/was being built underneath or near the Arch of Santa Catalina. Be truthful, not deceptive. McDonald’s has one location in Antigua and it’s not anywhere near the Arch.
It is very cheap there (although, I suppose that depends on where you're coming from). Overall, it and Honduras are usually considered the most budget-friendly countries to visit in Central America.
Hmmm, a little research on my part reveals that Agus belches out some earth junk once in a while, but probably doesn't actually meet the scientific criteria of "active." Thanks for pointing that out.
Thank you for that interesting travel guide. I mostly enjoyed it well. Just one piece was very irritating. If I'm going as a tourist, by gum, I'll be a tourist. I'm going to sport a fanny pack and I'm going to take pictures like mad. Why should I put on some fake, jaded stance as if it's all a big bore, when I just spent a pile and traveled a long way to see this amazing new-to-me place? And, also, if you think you, with your ways and habits (which include using your camera all over, too) don't stand out as a tourist, I think you have a new think coming. Thanks for listening.
Thank you for showing my homeland! best time to go is from december through april if you're catholic you will love Antigua in easter.
Awesome, have a great time there, I'm sure you'll have a blast.
You captured my husbands country quite beautifully... I treasure the kindness of the people and the land and its bounty the most!
Well, I did the most I could do in two weeks without just completely running around. I'd love to explore more there, especially the Caribbean side.
Great, I loved it there. Can't wait to explore it some more.

Beautiful!!!!
Awesome guide as usual! I just arrived in Guatemala last week and will definitely be using your advice over the next few months.
Thanks, I hope you two get to visit often.
Casa Elena, I love that place!
Nice, when were you there last?
I think I know your friend! He looks familiar. I was living in Antigua for a year. I from Honduras. Thanks I enjoy the video. Bring back good memories :)
Hey Max, thanks. I was actually there the week before Easter, so I got to experience some of the festivities leading up to the big day (and the massive crowds and traffic).
It is really really beautiful. Thanks to you
I know, but I love Brazilian music. It also seems to always fit in any video.
Beautiful , my Guatemala

Fun! You're definitely going to meet a ton of cool people there too.
yep for sure ..am also going to spend a night in Tapachula before heading to San Pedro
You can't really take a relaxing vacation in Guatemala. There is always something to explore or learn about. That is the best thing about being there.
Yeah I heard the Caribbean coast area is amazing. If I had another week I definitely would've gone.
I really like your style of video making!

Going there this December for Christmas with the fam. :-)
Well done, very educational.

Sorry, haven't been yet, but I've heard the Caribbean side is great, and I head Lake Nicaragua is amazing as well (another volcano lake!).
Great Video !!!
Nice, you should have a great time. Are you going to have a chance to explore some?
Thanks!
Stay safe and God bless you!

+Julio To Ha, well I was somewhat joking!
great video
GREAT JOB NICE.
What time of the year did you go there? It seems very cloudy in your videos!
I am planning a trip to Tikal but I have read it is very dangerous getting there. How did you get there safe and what bus company did you use?
I was there in April. It was actually quite clear, I think it was maybe the filter I was using. Sorry, maybe overdoing it with my new video editing program.
yea they call Panajachel: Gringotenango, Gringolandia, Hippielandia..... nice video thanks sharing
Great footage, next time you should visit Rio Dulce and the town of Livingstone!
I'm Guatemalan, I can recommend you some great places to visit and when is better to visit them.
I am also Guatemalan!

TheKokiXD yes i would like to know when is the best place to visit
Any time is good to visit Guatemala it's beautiful all year round.
@@berner265 you can visit all the time, Guatemala is just beautiful all year round, it just gets even better during Semana Santa as it is a unique celebration like nowhere else in the whole world. Come to Guatemala and you will see I am not lying to you.
well, good news :) It IS active again, after being dormant for some time.
Nice video Matt!!
Thanks, glad you liked it. Any plans to visit soon?
I will visiting Guatemala for the third time in 5 years in September. God bless my friend!
I’m curious why you said a McDonalds is/was being built underneath or near the Arch of Santa Catalina. Be truthful, not deceptive. McDonald’s has one location in Antigua and it’s not anywhere near the Arch.

hey I'm traveling to guatemala next month. how did you get from antigua to peten? I'm going by bus. where did you stay while in peten?
Ricky Bravo Good question. I took a bus, but I don't remember how long. Roughly a day? As far as the hostel I stayed at, I was at:amigoshostel.com/.
Did you travel at night ? Or in the morning ?
Thanks, hopefully a bit entertaining too.
Great video!
Thanks Charlie!
TheExpeditioner You should go to Rio Dulce, Izabal - Laguna Azul, San Marcos - and Los Cuchumatanes at Huehuetetenango, amazing places! :D
Charlie0891 Okay, cool, they're on my to-do list now.
oh how I know that and am already getting to know my step brothers friend who used to live in Montreal
Im so addicted to travel! #Gypset

good video
But loveee this video :)
Hey I just did a video on my time in Antigua. This one was better than mine though. :P
Hey! can you share the names of the songs pls ?
Thank you for that interesting travel guide. I mostly enjoyed it well. Just one piece was very irritating. If I'm going as a tourist, by gum, I'll be a tourist. +Diane Davidson True, good point. Well, the most important part is to have fun, right?
+TheExpeditioner True that!
Hate to say this to you. Vocán de Agua is not active. Only Volcán de Acatenango and volcán de Fuego.
My dad is on pacaya!
I don't think I'd hike toward a volcano when the ground is charred black and parts of it are broken and steaming lol
Well, it only erupts every once in a while. I like to live life on the edge.
nice video. would have been nice to have central american music instead of brazilian
detroit?!?!?!
great video but that looks like a run down city
