- Market days in Guatemala are very colorful. Here we start with street food in a suburb of Antigua, then move to the outdoor market near the center of town. The variety and abundance of the tropical fruits are breathtaking. Antigua also has a huge indoor market, but it was so dark and claustrophobic that I took almost no pictures. I just wanted to find a way out of the maze. The fruits and vegetables in the market are not only very cheap, but outstandingly delicious having been vine ripened, and picked just hours earlier.
Loved Guatemala, visited in 2016. Hope to visit the country a second time.

They are hoping Guatemala will recover soon their rich province of Belize from the pirate English monarchy; only Belize is 5 times richer in natural resources than small poor island of England . Kjell Eugenio Laugerud (son of a Norwegian and Guatemalan mother ) president of Guatemala 1974-1978 in 1976 was going to invade it but a catastrophic earthquake rattle Guatemala that year. He is known as Kjell in Guatemalan history was very patriotic and kept in the 70's the Guatemalan currency the Quetzal above the US dollar. I will stop here.... a little bit of history. God bless!

Cultural shock ha. I compare it, when I visited the US for the first time. I looked and stared everuwhere, I was amazed at architecture. I stared at white people and black people as well, they all were beautiful to me. ln downtown, I saw a black woman dancing, crossing the street full of cars and people, and I was impressed.

Hi, I'm from Guatemala and i guess that in the rural areas there is a lot of gender roles, They say that men are supposed to do the hard work, Or in some cases womans don't have a husband and they have to work to provide their family money, I hope you visit soon 😊
