I am so glad you made this tutorial, not to mention created the Vintage Kite Foundation Paper! It has really helped me jump in to the Vintage Kites Sew Along. Thank you!!!!!
It took me so long to try these out but one I did, I was hooked. You can’t beat them for accuracy. I’ve since purchased all the kinds of paper piecing they sell. It helps you work really fast, too.
Love this block and that table topper is adorable! Thank you Lori Holt, Kimberly and FQS!!! Oh - I agree with the other comments.... we need a 12" block! 😃
I am so glad you did a video on this new pattern. I wasn’t sure how it would be sewn. It helps to see it. Thank you! This would make a beautiful baby quilt❤️💁♀️😀
Thank you for another super useful tutorial. I have used your flying geese, and square in a square paper and love them. Need to add this one to my stash.
Just got my Kite block pad for Christmas - all the wazy from overseas - took some time but so glad it got here at the start of the year - now to pick the fabrics and get started...
I had bought paperkite but NEEDED this video. Love love your products and videos. Used your flying geese paper for midnight moon quilt and "enjoyed" the small blocks much much more. Thank you.
I just started making these for the sew-along. My blocks are coming out a little off when I sew the 2 pieces together but a little better sewing the halves together. I guess by the time I get the 80th block done, I'll get it right.
This is my first time doing paper piecing and I love it. I followed the tutorial and my small quilt looks exactly like yours. All my friends love it. I also subscribe to the monthly box. Thank you so much.
Ohmygoodness…I can’t wait to try this foundation paper. Made this block several years ago and only made 4 blocks. For me it was pretty difficult. But thinking this will work for me. I love love this block it’s one of my favorites.
I’m hoping you do a 12” =D! I ADORE your FPP block pads =D. They have given me a a lot more confidence in FPP and I’m able to do more with a lot less frustration. THANK YOU 😊❤️
Hello Annie how are you doing and how’s the weather over there? I was going through comments when I came across your post.. I would love to be a friend, would be nice if you can add me up, i hope you don’t mind?
I am so excited about making this quilt. I am using RBD on the wind fabric for my kite quilt. I watched this video about 6 times before I tried it. Still messed up the first attempt. My tip is to ignore the first sewing line until you are sewing all four units together. you sew the background along the dotted lines on edge of 1st shaded area.
I’m sorry, I can’t understand. Could you explain a bit more, please? I started today with a trial; took me a long time and it was complicated… but I absolute loved it!! I don’t know how to calculate the amount of fabric; any ideas? Please?🙏🏼
I am preparing for the Kte quilt along - so I made a sample block today !! It turned out amazing. Thank you for the papers and especially thank you for this tutorial - it made all the difference. The block is adorable !! I have some spring fabric that I think I will continue to practice with and make a table topper/runner.
I love paper piecing and this block is so cute! I can't wait to see what other paper pads you come out with! I have the complete triangles on a roll set and some other pads, too. Just love them all!
I love paper piecing, and much prefer using foundation paper over using templates. I have loved all the It's Sew Emma foundation papers that I have used. So ;looking forward to seeing what other papers you are working on for us. My favorite quilt, is now on the back of my love seat, and it's Best Friends Quilt that you and Lori Holt had done with a variety of the foundation papers.
Hello Brenda how are you doing and how’s the weather over there? I was going through comments when I came across your post.. I would love to be a friend, would be nice if you can add me up, i hope you don’t mind?

Love the paper foundation pads. I have several pads. I did the 1 1/2 inch square block for Gina Tell charity block for Saint Jude. I defiantly going to order this one
I just bought 2 1/2 inch unfinished triangles on a roll when I made the triangle comes out to 3 inches and then you must trim down to 2 1/2 is that correct?
Yes, it is me again. I'm sorry to bother you. I just got this in the mail today! Wow, fast shipping. Would it be more flatter to press seams open or does it matter doing it this way.
This is the first time I've ever seen this! Great instructions! I assume this paper is for more difficult blocks? I wonder about the Dresden Plate, is it considered easy or hard? It's my favorite, lol.
Kimberly, I’m making this quilt after my today’s trial! Got hooked! How much dark and light fabric do I need for a 70x70”? I don’t know hoy to calculate it. Please
Maybe a silly question but do I use my “fabric” rotary cutter to cut thru the paper/fabric or my “craft” rotary cutter lol 😝 Will the foundation paper not dull the good fabric blade or is it just part of the process? Thank you very much for the video…it’s very informative. Maybe I will give it a try next project 🫣😃
I want to do a queen size quilt with this one. I'm in love with this already! So would I need fat quarter bundle or ? And I see that you said how many blocks you need for each size but need to know how much fabric for each, that would help a bit more. And if so is there a 12" block?
Hello Laura! Here is a documnt that can help you get started www.fatquartershop.com/vintage-kite-quilt-along-pattern-free-pdf-pattern We do not have a 12" Vintage Kite Foundation Paper.
why sew through the paper when you can fold it and not have to fracture those stitches while tearing the paper. It also makes your paper go farther for other projects????
Wow….would love to see this in a 12” block. 😊
Me too or a 10"
And I meant to say that they show a bigger block!
I love the fact that you added a dot to help line up the seams. Brilliant!
Great video it explains it so well! Thank you Kimberly!

Lovely Kimberly, thank you. It's just a port that we don't get all your lovely patterns and material in South Africa
I had bought paperkite but NEEDED this video. Love love your products and videos. Used your flying geese paper for midnight moon quilt and "enjoyed" the small blocks much much more. Thank you.

Good to watch tutorial first I would not have known to cut paper first. Thanks

Great video. Great directions.
wow, super sweet. thanks Kimberly and Lori!
Pretty cool. Glad you have the video because this is very different process than the others.
This is great. I was always afraid to do the kite block, but with the paper it would be much easier. Thanks a bunch for the great video and paper.
Thanks Kimberly! I love these foundation papers…how about making them for the nosegay pattern? Lori
I love this block & the table topper is adorable. I can't wait to use the kite foundation papers. Great tutorial!
Boy that makes it so much easier....it looked like such a hard block to do. Thank you Kimberly
Hello Brenda how are you doing and how’s the weather over there? I was going through comments when I came across your post.. I would love to be a friend, would be nice if you can add me up, i hope you don’t mind?

Hello Debra
Really cute Kimberly! Love it❣️
Love the paper foundation pads. I have several pads. I did the 1 1/2 inch square block for Gina Tell charity block for Saint Jude. I defiantly going to order this one
This is SO cute. Love it!😍
Thank you for an interesting tutorial on more fpp. I was gifted the tablet for the snail trail, and planning to do some as soon as possible.
I love your papers. I’d like to see a storm at sea set, a set of fancy stars 12” set
Thanks for this! I needed instruction! :)
Love love this block! I also hope you do it in a 12” block! Have you thought about doing the friendship star in paper piecing! Would love that too!
After looking at the friendship block again I realized that’s an easy block to make with half square triangle paper!
Love it!
I ordered this on my last order. So excited to try them
Cool!
Wow, thanks for all your fun papers! Wonder how it would look if you sewed the background sides together, would that make a block?
That was cool
Thank you for this video!!!!!!!!
Amei esse bloco e a live😘
Wonderful thank you
This is the first time I've ever seen this! Great instructions! I assume this paper is for more difficult blocks? I wonder about the Dresden Plate, is it considered easy or hard? It's my favorite, lol.
Hello littleluluscraps! Yes, the paper is for more difficult blocks.

Hello Teresa! We have a guide here that can help you bit.ly/3P6OJuw
Maybe a silly question but do I use my “fabric” rotary cutter to cut thru the paper/fabric or my “craft” rotary cutter lol 😝
Will the foundation paper not dull the good fabric blade or is it just part of the process?
Thank you very much for the video…it’s very informative. Maybe I will give it a try next project 🫣😃
Hello Rachel! Either would be fine, just keep in mind the paper will dull your blade faster.
I currently have a vintage kite quilt on my
Bed. It’s a happy looking quilt and no I didn’t make it
I want to do a queen size quilt with this one.
@@FatQuarterShopTX Perfect! Thank you so much! Yeah, I thought that 10 or 12 would be a bit more tideous to make, so 6" is perfect!
Love it. Would be cute in Christmas fabrics.
Kimberley is there anywhere in Australia we can buy these foundation papers
WOW! you always make things look so easy!! Would it be a problem if I pinned parts 2 & 3 prior to sewing? Thx Kimberly
Hello Cath J! We do not recommend pinning them prior to sewing but you are welcome to pin however you'd like.
@@FatQuarterShopTX can u share why you don’t recommend pinning?
Great video. Thanks FQS team. I do have a couple of ideas for new paper pieced blocks. Where can I leave my sugestions?
Hello Paula! You can leave your suggestions here: forms.gle/q2TnAx1rT7m7qAoo6
I had surgery n was stopped for awhile. Today I was able to work on my vintage kites. They r so cute. Thank you for the papers for them. 🌹🌹🌹👍
How many packs will I need to make a queen? The print is too small for me to see. Thank you!
6 Packs. You need 225 blocks
Hello again, can you get a 10 or 12" block of this pattern
? I would love to make this bigger!
Hello Laura! We only have 4" and 6" options available.
❤️❤️❤️
Does the glue gum up your needle/machine?
54 40 or fight paper or templates 😃
What template would you use if not using foundation paper
why sew through the paper when you can fold it and not have to fracture those stitches while tearing the paper. It also makes your paper go farther for other projects????
