Welcome back to the Defense news channel for a discussion about Russia and Ukraine have turned to improvised armor solutions to give their tanks extra protection. But in recent weeks, Moscow appears to have gone a step further with an innovation. Its new "turtle tanks" may look silly, but there are signs that they may be effective. I seriously doubt it can withstand artillery or himars missiles. The tank is limited to frontal view only and cannot traverse it's gun or elevate it for distance shots and discarding sabot rounds from the side and rear will still disable it in place. Cluster munitions will penetrate the shell, killing the troops under it. A drone with an anti tank mine can enter the frontal opening killing the troops and destroying the tanks vision. Can't wait for the videos to come when the rains come. Yeah, it is a "brilliant" strategy.

Too bad it's been 1 month since the first turtle tank appeared, only 1 tank has been destroyed due to shelling while it was parked in a warehouse. Until now, not a single turtle tank has been destroyed during combat. It's ironic that the combat effectiveness of this old thing is better than Abram's.
To me it seems that these tanks, “turtle tanks” are merely barns with livestock to supply the Russian soldiers with an endless supply of food. Coud’ve sworn I saw chickens flying out of them when attacked by drones. Maybe they even have pigs and cows in them. The Russians are geniuses. They think of everything

Передняя проекция тоже имеет завесу мешающую пролёту дронов и как повезёт от снаряда кумулятивного, а подкалибер тоже потеряет часть своей пробивной силы и целостность! И уж поверь это не в КБ придумали, а непосредственно на поле боя!!! 😎

the Russians quickly adopted the idea of having an extra layer to protect their tank and they may be learned it from the philippines war in Marawi by improving it more from the drone attack
Genius Idea Comrade. In Russia we bring the Garage with Tank. But really how does this concept actually perform in a real tank battle? How can one fight with such limited vision and gun movement. I am not sure this is adaptation or Devolution of Tank and Tank battle concepts.

Drone are now guided bomb, carrier this is huge, they are laying bomb right inside trenches, in a 3 feet opening. Video shows, even the f-16 coming outdated here. As they don’t carry guiding missiles. But they can reach Russia with a 5 k bomb.
A tank that can only fire its gun forward seems like a design flaw to me, plus these fpv drones seem to be very manoeuvrable what’s stopping them flying under the tank? If a Ukrainian tank sees one of these turtle tanks, surely it just needs to sneak up behind it and turtle tank is done for.
