This is the Bruce I love. He's been off imo as of late and pretty much a dick and you can feel he didn't want to do the casts. Probably burn out which I understand but this one he's into it!
Been a huge fan of the Sgt my entire life. Met him at a signing organized by my local wrestling promotion. He was so nice and chatted a bit about G.I.Joe the Movie.
Great show Bruce! I was super locked in on the hogan slaughter back office situation. Conrad - nobody is better. I pattern my podcast style like you do it. What’s the fee for potential sponsors? Please
I've been waiting for this one for a while. Sarge is often overlooked and underrated, he was a legit ring general, and I hated the heel turn as a kid, but I realize now he did the best he could do with the angle he was given but I was ready to cheer him again when he turned face. I just wish he stayed in WWF instead of going to AWA I think WrestleMania and the WWF could have been altered.
Thought we were going to a Sgt. Slaughter episode but just got another Wrestlemania 7 episode. I think he did more in his career than one controversial wrestling match.
Good episode, although I wish there was a bit more about Sarge before he left to pursue the GI Joe deal. Slaughter, during his sympathizer role, was the only wrestler who could draw a reaction from my dog, hahaha. I liked the AWF, and one of the best memories I have from that was the Slaughter vs Tommy Rich tournament match. It had the best finish for utilizing that old-school over-the-top-rop-DQ scenario.
Bruce gets defensive about all the reasons why WrestleMania switched venues because he knows that WWF couldn’t draw 100,000 people. If Vince could have gotten that house he wouldn’t have given a shit about paying for security or “public fear”. Just be for real Bruce. I love ya brother!
I remember as a kid when Nikolai Volkoff turned face and embraced America, Pro Wrestling Illustrated (or one of their spinoffs mags) did an article and on the cover of the magazine it said something like” Sgt. Slaughter tells fans to forgive Nikolai Volkoff.” Funny because maybe two weeks later, the anti-Nikolai heel Sgt Slaughter promos began to air. I was like wtf? A few issues later, PWI did a retcon where they had a “interview” with Sarge where they accused him of playing them, and Sarge saying it was a means to an end for subterfuge against Nikolai. 🤔 Even me as a kid at that time called bullshit on PWI for that blunder lol
The Frank Deford part got me. Meltzer once used that as a defense on Twitter when him and I got into a debate. Literally was a “well it was good enough for Frank Deford.” Like ok pal 😅
SS best work was in JCP & WWF Vince Sr last yrs . He was a big man that could move and have great matches with small or mid size guys and was good on the microphone . Best heel in the business at the time easy .
Bruce's explanation of embracing heat and the lifestyle of being a true heel was gripping. It was truly awesome stuff. But then he went on Meltzer rant #1,436. We got it. Just move on already.
Before the 90's was too early for me but always thought Slaughter was a great heel those early 90 years despite how controversial the storyline was. As soon as he turned babyface he was totally irrelevant to me, maybe I'm in the minority with that but I hated the tag team with Duggan Lol
Slaughter was so slow when he came back to WWF, He was sucking air in 1st few minutes n was slow like Volkoff & Bravo as their best days were behind them. WWF should of used that $ for STING or someone else if they could. Definitely the Worst Champion WWF had in 80s/90s. I still love the WWF era of 80s/90s.
Wasn't able to watch the Hogan slaughter fued my dad was in Saudi serving and I and my family back home me especially didn't handle it well so they kept me away from things that might mention the the situation so wasn't able to watch tv other then older cartoons and movies what not
the biggest problem with sarge's heel turn is desert storm was over within weeks. so you have evil slaughter championing the saddam hussein for wm7. by then the war had been over for a month.
I like Slaughter, but they never shouldve put the belt on him in 91 imho Fantasy booking for Wm 7- Warrior vs Macho in a title vs career match to close the show Slaughter vs Duggan in a Flag match Hogan vs Typhoon
Putting the belt on him was genius. We go to war with Iraq…turn the all American hero heel and he sides with the bad guy so the Real American Hulk Hogan can beat him. I was 10 when this was going on and I loved it
@@davidsmith-th1kh It didnt draw a dime. The War was already long over by the time we got to Wm 7. Rumble 91 had a higher buyrate thab Wm 7. The fantasy card i laid out wouldvd drawn better imho Couldve done the same Slaughter turn and had him feud with Hacksaw leading up to a Flag Match at Wm 7. 1991 Slaughter belonged in the midcard. He was 42 yrs old and looked like he was 50
In my opinion I think Vince Jr. made a similar mistake to Vince Sr. and to a greater extent to Verne Gagne when the latter both let Hogan go. Vince Sr. obliviously wasn't hurt to bad losing him but definitely could have used his star power from starring in Rocky III to boost the WWWF nationwide but Verne's AWA went to shit and I thought Sarge wrestled more for AWA but he wrestled sporadically for them probably cause Verne couldn't afford him. But If Vince Jr. could have worked with G.I. Joe and Sarge and with Hogan's rise to fame I think he would have made much more of a cultural impact but with that all said he did alright, but it is a interesting what if scenario.
The whole “ oh the WWE audience had no idea who DDP was” Is such bullshit . go back and watch the debut of DDP and keep in mind not only is that a huge pop but within two months earlier, Ric Flair walked out in Charlotte, North Carolina and the pop DDP got on his debut was bigger than Ric Flair in North Carolina. Bruce Pritchard really thinks the fans that were around back then that are watching his podcast are stupid. It’s why I don’t have respect for Bruce or Vince or Kevin Dunn because that whole attitude they gave the WCW wrestlers was so unprofessional. But do I expect Bruce to come out here and just admit “well you see guys like me and Vince and Kevin done work Howards we use our positions to bully people. Now we have them under contract so DDP or buff Bagwell we know these guys can’t come punch us in the face because if they wanna work in the wrestling business, they have to kiss our ass but since we’re a bunch of little girls that are cowards were just going to ruin everyone’s career Because we have to do it and no one is here to stop us”
With Slaughter I cannot help but think of how he was a total phony. He was never a drill instructor, nor was he a war hero in any way. He just piggybagged on the sacrifices made by genuine soldiers. Normally - and for years - I could look passed it. But after his daughter got all up in arms as though her dad had any special kinda 'right' to doing a military gimmick. Not a lot of respect for the dude.
I love it at about 73 minute mark shifting on Meltzer was gold, Bruce going "Full of SHHHHIT"😂.
I liked how Sarge kept Warriors purple belt. It was like a scalp.
Finally Bruce summed up Meltzer 😂😂😂
Record-setting time, even
Sgt. Slaughter vs Pat Patterson Street Fight is a perfect example of Sarge's ability to work, an amazing match!
This is the Bruce I love. He's been off imo as of late and pretty much a dick and you can feel he didn't want to do the casts. Probably burn out which I understand but this one he's into it!

He was a huge heel in NWA before he was a face for Vince
Met Sarge last Summer he was great
I love Bruce!!
Thought we were going to a Sgt. Slaughter episode but just got another Wrestlemania 7 episode. I think he did more in his career than one controversial wrestling match.
Once again, Meltzer is called out for his lies. And people subscribe to him $14.99 a month 🙄 😂
Nope I'd steal mine from my neighbor
It's funny that Dave Meltzer writes what's called " The Dirt Sheets" when that office he works out of is dirty AF 😂😂😂
Conrad Thompson referencing 'Conman Thompson' is so full circle, it's practically 360 degrees
Solid episode!
Slaughter was a heel in the 70s because everyone hated America during The Vietnam War
Good episode, although I wish there was a bit more about Sarge before he left to pursue the GI Joe deal. Slaughter, during his sympathizer role, was the only wrestler who could draw a reaction from my dog, hahaha.

Does anyone know if Prichard still calls people when they buy a T-Shirt?
Yes he calls them an asshole. 😊
SS best work was in JCP & WWF Vince Sr last yrs . He was a big man that could move and have great matches with small or mid size guys and was good on the microphone . Best heel in the business at the time easy .
The Bootcamp match with Pat Patterson still holds up today
My girl joes also wrestled...then I made a terminator figure I had into diesel in the Hasbro days...the Arnold figure was perfect for Nash
What are girl joes?
Does Meltzer have dirt on Bruce? His reactions towards him are over the top
Bruce's explanation of embracing heat and the lifestyle of being a true heel was gripping. It was truly awesome stuff. But then he went on Meltzer rant #1,436. We got it. Just move on already.
Bruce was you and McMahon trying too compete with hasbro for sarge?
Slaughter did NOT win the SS event, he didn't defeat Tito, Tito was the survivor Bruce.
Would have been nice if Conrad knew enough to correct him there
Before 1990 I had no idea Sgt. Slaughter was actually a real person. :-D
At 43:18 looks like Tucker Carlson is interviewing Sarge
Best intro
Before the 90's was too early for me but always thought Slaughter was a great heel those early 90 years despite how controversial the storyline was. As soon as he turned babyface he was totally irrelevant to me, maybe I'm in the minority with that but I hated the tag team with Duggan Lol

So many commercials. DAMN! Makes the show really hard to watch.
Wasn't able to watch the Hogan slaughter fued my dad was in Saudi serving and I and my family back home me especially didn't handle it well so they kept me away from things that might mention the the situation so wasn't able to watch tv other then older cartoons and movies what not

Maan ,RUclips algorithm censoring your Sgt.Slaughter quotes too? 😂

Worst finish move in Wrestle Fest arcade game”Slaaaughter Cobra Clutch!”=Wrestle CRAP
Brother Lard says Sergeant Slaughter is such a great guy then why did Slaughter turn on America circa 1990 and join Sadamms troops ?
because they were heels
The stolen valor gimmick 😂
Screw yall for letting him beat the warrior
Warrior sucked
The whole “ oh the WWE audience had no idea who DDP was”

Bruce in this one literally says a whole lot of nothing for two hours, except clichés
With Slaughter I cannot help but think of how he was a total phony. He was never a drill instructor, nor was he a war hero in any way. He just piggybagged on the sacrifices made by genuine soldiers.

God this was a boring episode. Barely made it half way through
Theres power in fasting @lumen
