- This is the only fast-food giant that I've found in India that really sticks to their authentic recipe and menu. KFC, McDonald's, Burger King, Taco Bell, Dominos etc. are all different in India... and not in a good way. But Nando's has kept their original recipe and also included some delicious Indian inspired peri-peri dishes for vegetarians - like their Creamy Cashew Paneer & Spicy Rice curry. It's a rare thing to find.

The special thing is about pizza, the pizza outside is sooo different and the cheese literally stretches , but in India the cheese is literally a separate entity 😂

Opposite in curry like Indian curries are great but out of India its litetally a boiled spicy water with vegetables and chicken or Paneer
I would say most pizzas in India are either dry as a cardboard topped with rubbers or you get baby vomit with vegetables.
Irony is that most of the best cheese in the world like mozarella, buffula, ricotta etc in Italy are made by our Sardarji brothers from India who work in Italian farms.... Why cant they come back and do the same in India?? 🙄

We are from South Africa and we have been staying in Gurugram since Feb 2020. We were very happy to see a Nando’s at Cyberhub😀. I must say, the price is the same as in South Africa HOWEVER, the portion of chicken is a lot larger than what we get in South Africa. So excellent job done for the India market. 🇿🇦🇿🇦

I didn't know they have Nando's in India. I'm from South Africa and Nando's doesn't serve cake here. They're competing with KFC now and have drive through. Ever since the drive throughs started, its not as tasty as it used to be. But it does very well in the areas where Indians live here. I've got one within walking distance from my house 🤗

Hey guys i started watching cause of my love for indian culture even though i have never been, but watching as an Aussie, to Newzealander brothers and your wife, much Australian love. You guys do awesome work and informational vids!
I used to eat all the time at Nando's in Australia. Even though it's a bit expensive but it's deliciously addictive. One of the best food chain hands down. After watching this I am tempted to try it here in India now.
Have u been to connaught place. I went there and it was not bit expensive, way expensive. I got a bill of 1700 for 2 while in mc donalds its 350 to 400. Its 5 times the price
And food was shit. Undercooked chicken, small portions. I mean 400 for 1 piece. Really.

i had it esy, my office was upstairs of nandos, so almost daily and its cheap in south africa, a tad over kfc but healthier by a mile. i miss it in india but make my own which is 70 percent a match
I know, the "indianized" version really feels off if you have tasted the authentic flavors. But I think both are great in their own ways 😀.

I am in SA, I dont really eat fast food but when I do, Nandos is a good option. It 's just Portuguese styled food (as in thats what it is trying to be first and foremost but chakalaka and stuff like that is the South African part).

Hey Karl. Regarding the "authenticity" of foods, well, that's bound to happen simply because of the raw ingredients itself. For example, even the french-fries at McDonald's India - though produced with the similar process - tastes different on account of where the potatoes themselves come from. In the case of Nando's, you're right - i'd assume the extra cost is to try and make sure they stay true to the flavours as far as possible. I wouldn't be surprised if the sauce isn't locally made.

I work at Nando's in the UK. The interior is much, much brighter in India than in the few stores I've visited here. The chicken hasn't been grilled properly sadly but I'm jealous of how big the cake is! 😳
I think these fast food joints should serve the authentic flavours all over the globe. It's not just with India that they alter the recipe, if you look at South Korea, it's the same tempura batter in KFC without mashed potatoes and gravy. That's common for all Asia-Pac regions.
Let's see when these regions can have Jolibee or Popeye's. India loves Karl Rock ❣️
To be fair it's better for the franchise to have their own kind of flavors. I think it's more unique and excited that way. I do remember when I had my first KFC in the U.S it was super salty comparing it to what I had in Thailand which have more flavors in the batter in my opinion. Imagine if all KFC taste like the one in the U.S which is authentic recipe but could be really salty for some people. Not everybody taste buds are the same so it's a good choice that each and every countries did it on their own way.

I can remember when Nando's started in Johannesburg and there were only two shops, the were queues around the block. The guys who started it were originally from Mozambique. Peri-peri was bought to Mozambique by merchants from India. Nando's also have great TV ads here in South Africa,. Check them out.

Over in the UK where I come from, there is a place called Southall which is a district in West London. There is a massive Indian Punjabi and Pakistani population there and they have opened loads of North Indian and Pakistani restaurants/takeaway places there. These restaurants are not modified to suit local British tastes and the food is as authentic as if it were straight from the streets of say Amritsar and Islamabad. The Kebabs and Naans are incredible although on the hot side. I thought it was better than most High Street curry houses so unmodified food does work much like that Hyderabadi place you mentioned in Auckland NZ.

I remember going to Nando's when it just opened in India. I liked the spiciness of the food but the overall taste wasn't good. Tried going back last week but the restaurant still isn't open in Mall of India. Hoping to try the peri peri chicken soon. I think you should try the restaurants in Noida specially burma burma(also in Gurgaon) if you still haven't🙂
Its not "unfortunate" Karl that McDonalds and KFC have changed their recipes to suit the Indian palette. Its just called doing the smart thing for business. It makes business sense. They are here to make money and have tweaked their menus and flavours according to the Indian palette. There is nothing wrong with that. They know what they are doing

When I went to to Bangalore i had kfc and it was pretty legit to the states... now they may have changed in the last 8 years. But at the time it did help with my home sickness. Next time I go back it will have to check it out

Funny enough I visited Nando's in Bangalore and everything but the cut of the wings was the same.
The cut was probably because the chicken had to be halal.
If it's not halal, it's "taboo" to Muslims which is the 2nd largest relegion in India so it makes sense
