Thanks for letting me know, correct translation for Gulam Rasool is “Slave/Servent to Prophet Muhammad.”
I never expected to eat Chole with Mutton. But there you go, something new. Chole & egg was my favourite 😋. I've written a Lohore food blog if you want to see more restaurants blog.karlrock.com/the-best-cheap-authentic-eats-in-lahore/

The one sad things I’ve noticed is how Pakistanis are generally friendly and positive about India or Indians. Sadly the common person in India seems to have very negative perceptions about Pakistan.

One thing I have noticed in a lot of videos is that an average Pakistani when asked about indians has always positive things to say. On the contrary, a lot of average indians will only have bad perceptions about average pakistanis. Maybe it has something to do with the indian media or the ultra nationalist right wing indian government but I hope the things change.

finding good authentic Pakistani food in England is very difficult, problem is restaurants are run by businessmen not people who have been cooking for generations. good ones are few and far in between. if you can locate a catering service (who supply weddings funerals etc), they have a limited menu but the rice and curries are usually spot on, some of them will do smaller orders, but a massive curry pot and a massive wedding rice pot is about £60-£80 per pot, and will feed 70-80 people at least. if you're having guests around 1 pot rice, 1 pot curry, 100 Sheesh kebabs, 100 chicken wings probably total about 200-250£. and you will have tonnes of food left which will keep for a few days in the fridge, or even freeze it.

Hey Karl, Ghulam is a servant or slave. Rasool means Prophet or Messenger.
So the name essentially means Slave/Servant of the Prophet Mohammed.
Which is a controversial name as Muslims are forbidden to use a name that means servernt of or slave of another human being. We are permitted to use it only for Allah, such as servant of Allah is permissible as a name.
Just thought u may be curious, as it is a name commonly found in the subcontinent region. Heck, that's my neighbor's name as well.

It’s not forbidden to be called servant of Prophet Muhammad SA in literal or figurative meanings. Figuratively it’s a way of showing regard and respect and taking pride on attaining the place of even the servant of Prophet. Like the king/ rulers of Saudi Arabia are officially called as “ Khadim Al-haramaain-sharifaain” ( servant of the two holy mosques ). What’s forbidden is to be called “Abad” ( creation/ man) of anyone other than Allah swt. i.e. Abdullah ( man of Allah ) Abdul-Rehman ( man of the merciful )

That food looked sooo delicious that I’m envious!!
I understand what you mean about the water. Once in 2013 in the Philippines 🇵🇭 I was at my then gf family home and her mom had cooked a big meal with a side salad 🥗, it was a little wet still from rinsing with water. As l looked at it I knew I may regret this & enjoyed the meal, very good.
Then I had 3 days of the absolute worst diarrhea I had ever had. I went to a Mercury pharmacy there in Marikina and explained what I had eaten and they sold me something I can’t remember now, but it started working within 2 hours. So lesson learned.
From that time forward if I will not eat something I explain as not to be rude.
I’m so hungry now, very nice video Karl, and your friend seems like a pretty cool guy.

The segregation in dhabas and weddings is not everywhere in Pakistan. It depends solely on what traditions , beliefs and values you've been brought up with. There are certain villages that are moderate and some are conservative. The diaspora is very unique in its own way and beautiful. The majority of Pakistanis are moderates. I thought I should share my 2 cents on this subject. I am a huge fan as always. Cheers
