Why I (almost) always make these 2 creamy pastas for vegan skeptics

- Making meals for people who aren't vegan isn't always easy, especially if they know you'll be making a vegan meal. It's like you say, hey, check out this vegan mango and all the sudden they hate mangoes. The word vegan for a lot of people means that the food will have no flavor, taste like water or just all around no way it can be good.
These vegan creamy pasta dishes will wow anyone, even if they are skeptical at first. It's two that I have made for family and friends often and I know that people in your life (or even you, if you are watching and a bit skeptical yourself) will love too!
Check out these ideas and let me know which one you try (it should be all 2).

What’s the one plant based food most vegans seem to love, that you can’t stand?
Tofu. I actually love it, bit it doesn't like me back.
Pickles...
Nutritional yeast lol... it's not that I can't stand it but I really don't use it... plus it's not cheesy at all like everyone says... it's more a movie butter taste to me lol
Shiitake mushrooms 😭 they are fine to flavour a broth or whatever but to actually bite into one is 🤢 I love most other mushrooms so I’m not sure why they are so vile to me.
Soy anything....
Two small bits of info if you are watching the budget .... Buy a block of solid coconut ..... Coconut milk is made up from around 10% solid and 90% water .... You can reconstitute a small portion of the block by adding water. It lasts for weeks in a block. You can also make it as creamy as you want. It is a fraction of the cost. And blitz up your own chick pea flour .... It is very easy to do and is around a tenth of the cost of bought versions. ;)
So really good "nuggets' of info here! I love it!❤️
One other thing to add is, as you may be aware, we need to be careful where we buy coconut products from. Many or most plantations iin Thailand use enslaved monkeys to harvest the coconuts. I wish I was making this up :-(
I made your Penne alla vodka so many times I have the recipe memorized. I add some vegan meatballs to the pasta. My husband is a huge meat eater, in fact anytime I am making a meatless dinner he cries out, "what am I going to do without meat?!!" Yet, when I make this pasta he never whines. In fact, he requests this dish, and has even contemplated going vegetarian because this dish has introduced him to how amazingly delicious vegan dishes can be. Thank you!!
Okay, I must get this out of the way, the first 3+ minutes of the video are excellent... the subtle background music, the gentle scraping sounds of the bowls, not a word from Andrew, the dropping & tapping sounds ALL together had me captivated. Well done!
Okay, now to watch the rest of the video!
🙏🏾 much appreciated, Mishan!!
I normally don't like asmr type recipe videos, but yours are paced perfectly. It's also very cute how you sneak the items into the frame. It's delightful. I'm not vegan, but I make your recipes sometimes! We enjoy watching! San Marzanos--yes!!! And buying them whole, then crushing yourself ensures quality--no pieces and parts.
Loved this, thank you!! 🤗
Love your channel and how you explain it. Love your voice
Just so you know- I always “like” your videos before they even start because I know I am going to love them 😀
😂 You're serious the best!
@kjmcarl4257 ::: Same, Same ……. 🤩
I'm definitely gonna try the first recipe! Loving your channel, bro. You've just helped me (last week) getting out of a 6 months bad state of mind and getting into cooking again. Thanks a lot, and keep teaching us! Cheers from Brazil. Peace!
🙌🏾 thats amazing! thanks for sharing that!
Love this! Made it for dinner with my daughters. We just started eating plant based 4 weeks, and I'm so thankful we found this channel. Very relatable and easy to follow. You make cooking vegan easy and approachable. PLUS, so far, every recipe we've tried *chef kiss**👍🏾 This video is definitely getting a share.
awww🥹, thank you!!! Love that you're cooking with your daughters!!!❤️ thanks for sharing
Wow you may be my new favorite, just subscribed! Really love this format. ..watching you put the recipe together is both relaxing and inspiring and then the way you sit down and have a chat with us after each recipe. Even your kitchen backdrop is a pleasure to view. Can't wait to start making your recipes. Thanks for the content!
thank you for the kind words!!🤗
I have been making your recipes for a few months now. Just when I think I have a favorite, I find one more awesome recipe in your line up. This is beyond amazing. I plan on making on a regular basis and serving it up to my skeptics!!
You are an absolute joy to watch, listen and watch!! Learning so much from you!! Cinematography of your videos is gorgeous!! Love your vegan creative delicious recipes!!
This is the second video I’ve seen if your channel since coming across it last night and I really like the format of your videos between listing the ingredients as you prep them, putting it all together, and giving a backstory for that recipe and why you enjoy it
Awesome! Thank you so much!
I made both of these pastas this week. So delicious. My daughter loved them both. You have a very nice channel, easy to follow the recipes and nice music 👏👏👏👍 thank you
🙌🏾 so happy you and your daughter enjoyed!! thank you much!!!
Andrew, I can't praise you enough for the amazing high-quality content you deliver. After watching a few videos, I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw this channel doesn't have seven figure subscribers. Keep up the great work, your videos are so incredibly visually pleasing!
I also can't stand mushrooms for the life of me, I just went ahead and justified it by saying that I am vegan, therefore I only eat plants :P
Thank you so so much!! Mushrooms and i may never completely see eye to eye lol
I throw in some shaved fennel, home sun/oven dried tomatoes, zucchini, capers and for extra proteins and micronutrients a hand full of chickpeas. I don't care if it is not a classic dish, but it is richer and more filling.
For the shroom pasta I add some veggie meatless balls made from shrooms, shaved sweet potato, oats, nuts, scallions, bunch of fresh marjoram/thyme and some chickpea and flaxseed flour for binding and extra nutrition...
Good job with the channel Andrew, big shout out from Serbia :)
Those add ins sound amazing! Thank you so much for sharing, Sinisa!🙏🏾
Wow, nutritious! Do you blend the chickpeas and zucchini for the first dish?
love the way you make these vids. Cook then talk. Easy to digest and implement. My guyyy!
I absolutely love your cooking but WAY more ingredients than I have time to cook. You have given me so many ideas! Thank you!!!
welcome!
Love the enormous amounts of garlic you put in everything.
LOL thank you!!! garlic is just so great!
@@thenarddogcooks I have a personal maxim (and I apologize for it revealing that I'm not vegan) which states "There's no such thing as too much garlic, butter, or chocolate; just not all in the same dish."
I absolutely love the aesthetic of your videos, perfect choice of music, and the dishes look amazing ✌
thank you!!!
I'm so happy I came across your channel. I enjoy your style & meal ideas.
thank you, Brook!
Really love your videos and cooking style. Being Italian I grew up watching my grandparents and mother cook pasta sauce down for hours so I completely understand how different sauce can taste once it simmers for a bit (not hours!!). I will try both your dishes for a family gathering. I’m the vegan in the group so I have to bring things to family meals.
Thank you so much, Jean! The rare occasion that gatherings aren't hosted at my house, we do the same.
Everything looked delicious. I love mushrooms. That second dish gave me so much life! I'm a vegetarian but this channel is making me consider cooking a few vegan dishes. After binge watching for a couple of days you have a new subscriber. 4hank you for amazingly interesting dishes and the education on them, please keep those videos coming! 🙏🏾😁🙏🏾
I haven't made vodka penne in a while. I'll be rectifying that soon. Really appreciate your consistent inspiration for my menu planning.
🙏🏾 so well come!
OMGoodness, I now have two new dishes that I HAVE GOT TO MAKE!
Excellent video, thank you Andrew for sharing this with us!
so welcome!!🤗
Why are the sounds so satisfying! You mic must be on 1000
🙏🏾🤗
I am definitely going to make this!! Thank you Andrew
Lol! You always crack me up! These look gooood! I don’t like mushrooms but I’m interested in trying this recipe. Thanks!
im right there with you! i try every once in a while to see if anything changes... it normally doesnt 😂
I honestly hate bow shaped pasta (which always cooks unevenly) but I guess for the second recipe, the shape can be altered without a great loss in experience :D The flavours seem amazing, the texture of the sauce just so silky and hey, we gotta appreciate the fact you used mushrooms in a recipe out of your own will!
LOL, it was so hard for me, but i find myself always trying things i dont like again and again. Sometimes i actually end up loving it!
This guy!!!!! I've tried recipes similar but OMG YOUR RECIPES ARE BOMB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you for your time and generosity providing the recipes for FREEEEEEEEEEE. Game changer!
That arm pump for the penne pasta, bol. You gotta love it. Both looked delicious.
YES!! thank you!
Somehow stumbled on your video today and I'm so glad I did! Had some tomatoes that needed using so I roasted them first and then realized I didn't have vodka but had some gin. Dinner came out awesome!
Omg, i was intimidated at first with the ingredients. Im not a good cook. But boy I tried the second pasta with asparagus. It’s soo good. Thank you! Ill be confident to make this more and share with fam and friends!
Just made the second recipe (with a few modifications) and it was tasty! Looking forward to making it again.
What modifications?
just made this, and it is BOMB. Ty!
I am really enjoying your videos. I have been recommending them to my patients who tell me that plant-based is Shxt. So thank you for your talent, humor, and great instructions.
Thank you! I appreciate it, Mathew!
You're the next best thing on my subscribed list (which is very small). Thanks dude! You're frikkin' awesome!
Thanks for that!!
Like your style of video. Very soothing 🥰🙏thanks
Your videos are really fun to watch. I love the style, the overhead camera angle, the sound effects while you're making the dishes, and even the choice of background music. I also love the way you both complement and criticize your own dish at the same time. I would turn off the background music while you're speaking, and only us it during the cooking section, so it doesn't get old. I'm also wondering what mic are you using to get that crisp sound of the clicks and chops and dishes sliding around while cooking?
thanks for sharing, Paul! Mic is a Rode, specifics linked in the description under equipment
They both Look amazing!
Amazing recipes, thank you so much!! 👍👏💖
loved the music:) looks amazing!
Right off the bat Aesthetically pleasing. I'm not vegan but I'm excited to try. Thanks for sharing!
New Vegan here and I am so happily enthused I found your videos! Trying one of the recipes tonight ✨God Bless!
I just made this recipe for my family and got a standing ovation!
Just made the second pasta dish…very very good!
I love the music and sound affects to your videos. ❤❤
🤗❤️
I love this music! It reminds me of home alone.
😂 i can see that!
These are great recipes! And you explain it well. Thanks for the grub insight!
You are so welcome! 🤗
A joy to watch, as always. Thanks.
🙏🏾 appreciate you, Gigi!
So many great recipes! Making the penne alla vodka tonight.
that second pasta looks like perfection 🥰 🥺😭
Watching you make these meals with all the chopping and sounds is so therapeutic!!! Am I the only one? LOL
Thank you very much for the inspirations, being a seasonal vegan (winter prices for fruits and vegetables here are way higher than meat ones), always good to try something new. Gotta admit that vodka + coconut milk was the killer, the milk doesn't curdle with vodka as i have noticed. Tried switching penne for buckwheat and chickpeas pasta, worked even greater. Gotta give asparagus pasta a try too, when the forest mushrooms season starts in few weeks.
you're welcome! I completely get the seasonal deal. Pricing is a huge factor in my diet. so glad you enjoyed and thanks for the tip on your experience with buckwheat/chickpea pasta. Im gonna give that a go myself!
I just made the Penne all Vodka and it is fantastic! I am new to your channel and love your style and content!
Your meals look awesome!!! Im trying them all, OK!
Adore your vibe. Had me giggling over your take on mushrooms lol. I've always been the same way with it and wonder why some folks even put in Lasagna. Although I did have it in a risotto once and it was heavenly. So because of that it's not totally a no fly zone/ no-go for me no longer however open to it sparingly lol like you mentioned if cut so small and thin that it becomes hardly existent haha. Anyhow I'm glad I found your channel and can't wait to try your recipes and share it with loved ones. ♡
Your knife skills are incredible. Can you substitute coconut milk? Any suggestions?
Hey I love what you show, I’m considering being a vegan for years, what you show makes me see it’s possible, can you do more options other then paste, I can only eat a little of it
This is my first creamy pasta in the last 10 years l!!! Thank you doesn’t quite say it, god bless you brother 🙏🏼
AMAZING!!!!! Loving this so much!
🤗
That mushroom pasta looks just wonderful, and mushrooms and I are good friends. Will definitely try. And coming from Sweden, I salute your choice of vodka! ❤
Yummy 😋 can't wait to make them. Thank you ❤️
❤️ so welcome!
I love this, its like art.
Both looked amazing. New subby here. I love garlic that much also. It would be a good movie companion, there wouldn't be much noise around you. Thanks for the recipes.
😂 well said!
I will try both of these ideas, they look so good! I might use spinach instead of asparagus
spinach is a good choice!
I have never made penne alla vodka but it looked so so good! My fam loves any creamy pasta sauce so I am pretty sure this one will be a 10/10. And similarly to you, I put my relatives' satisfaction on top of my priority list when I cook :D
Its all about taking care of other the best way we know how!🤗
just making the vodka penne sauce now, tastes great!
Oh my I could almost smell it😋😋 looks DELICIOUS!
Hi Andrew, I just saw a few of your shows, they were very helpful. I moved from California 3 years ago, to N.E. Ohio. In California there's fresh produce in all the stores, salads are a thing. In Ohio people eat meat, there are very few stores that offer organic produce, coconut milk etc. I'm still looking for a store that sell bulk walnuts and other grains. You mentioned Aldi, in one of your "episodes", I went into an Aldi once and it was super small, and their produce looked "sad". Maybe I'll give it another try. Thanks for the great content! Carol
With my new life switch looks like I'll be following you now for tasty vegan meals
🙏🏾
Andrew, you cut the vegetables so calmful. Finally i found a very good vegan cook. Thank you so much, Bro
Gorgeously done!!!
🙏🏾
For mushrooms, a great tip from Chef Jean Pierre (Teacher & RUclipsr) is to cook them until all the water is gone completely. Salt them to draw out the water.
He said many people who dont like mushrooms, like his mushrooms. And it is bc he gets rid of all the water in them.
Keep it up my man, awesome job on the vids!
Thank you, Brack!
That creamy mushrooms pasta was fire. Thanks for sharing
Sooooo you should write a book so I can buy it!
😂 hopefully in the future!
@@thenarddogcooks I’ll be getting it when you do!
Okay I didn’t have any vodka but this is AMAZING!!! I should’ve bought triple the ingredients. I’d have this three times a week if I could.
I like using either chickpea or lentil pasta for an added protein kick. Tastes the same as whole wheat pasta.
Love this guy's style of filming
🙏🏾
I feel the same way that you do about mushrooms. Don't like the smell, taste or texture. I might as well chew on a rubber ball. Maybe cutting them up small would work for me as well. I have a hard time working with asparagus. I think adding them to a saucy pasta dish is a terrific idea. Thank you for (maybe) starting me on the slow road of mushrooms 🍄
You're welcome! Mushrooms are still tough for me even diced up but i give them a try again and again LOL, maybe someday.
Learning a lot from you guys, making vegan a lot more interesting for me! Same for me with mushrooms but I don't care for Tofu at all, I think it's a texture thing :(
Perfection as always.
Thank You Great Show
I’ve been watching you and your wife for a while now and just started following you. Do you have any alternatives to coconut milk/cream? I just don’t care for the flavor. Also which Parmesan cheese would you recommend? For taste and texture? Don’t remember the video you guys did on shreds.
What kind of portable cooktop do you use in your amazing videos?
Hi Andrew..
I too am not a mushroom fan of any type. Nor do I do asparagus, but that dish looks quite delicious
LOL i get it! thank you!
Amazing as always Andrew 😁
You're the best, Kelsey!
Absolutely love this channel 💐💐💐💐💐
love ya right back, Sabrina!
On point brother!
Your content is so entertaining.
Greetings from the deepest, darkest forests it Norway✌️
🙌🏾 thank you!!
Just keep it up man! Let's get everyone interested in real vegan food and positive health💪💜✌️
That asparagus pasta looks awsome!
That vodka penne pasta is awesome! Got any recipes for vegan meatballs? To go with it?
yes! i have a few at my website makeitdairyfree.com
Andrew I love how you say "Because I'm an adult child" 🤣 this is true for a lot of us! I enjoy your videos you are my favorite besides your other channel
The vodka also extracts extra flavor compounds out of the tomatoes.
Looks delicious 😋
🤤
How do you maintain size with a vegan diet. Do you supplement with protein shakes only or some other dish? Great video by the way but I don't understand how you support muscle growth lol.
My daughter and I met you and your wife at career Day🙂 Great video!
What’s a substitute I could use in place of the coconut milk? I’m allergic to coconut 😢
I feel the same way re mushrooms as you. When every I get a recipe with them I usually sub with zucchini. It will give the same texture once cooked. Not the same umami though.
thanks for sharing, Patricia!
? Saw you guys video about the Silk heavy cream is there a reason you didn’t use it in the second pasta recipe love you guys
trying to ingredients that are more of pantry staples and more available. but that cream is good, so it would be a nice touch! thank you!
Looks delicious! Can you taste the coconut milk?
I can't but if you really sensitive to it maybe try oat or soy milk!
