I had the opportunity to try out the demo for the upcoming Rollin' Rascal, a high-speed momentum-based platformer being developed by Curiomatic. It's shaping up to be an incredible addition to the growing list of Sonic-inspired 3D indie platformers and is well worth your time.

My perfect Somic game has always been a mix Between the adventure gameplays Levels and Physics and the boost games sense of speed and reaction So IM SUPER EXITED for this.
If you think this is great, you should check out these other games like Spark the Electric Jester 3, Lightspeed Lina (In development), Haste: Broken Worlds, Penny's Big Breakaway, Pizza Tower, Pepper Grinder, Freedom Planet 1 and 2, Sonic Mania, Go Mecha Ball, and Advent Neon
@@derple8524 I tried out most of these I like High speed platformers but sonic gt has always been a personal favourite of mine it combines everything I love about the boost games and applies it to the adventure games Its quite honestly damn close to my dream Game

Honestly the GOAT Sonic GT is a personal favourite game of mine but now its about to be dethroned.

1:44 it's funny, that's my only complaint about the character design. Rascal looks cool, I just have no idea what he IS. A robot?... An alien?... An anthropomorphic tire? Somehow that last one feels the most likely.

I got the demo, and it fun, one thing I wish they added is that once he picks up enough speed, you should be able to run on water

this game has a lot of passion oozing at the seems just from playing the Demo, I've had my eyes on this game since Project Rascal, and after playing this newest demo for this title, my interest has peaked, sadly it'll be a few years before we see this game, but it'll be well worth it if they keep the quality shown so far

It’s great seeing a new video from you! And it’s for an equally great game! Rollin Rascal is INCREDIBLE! It’s amazing how much better this plays than even GT which already felt amazing! And the art style is just superb! Glad the game has already been funded and I cannot wait for the full release!

Real cool to see you back! Would be super interested to get your thoughts on some of the recent games or other fan projects. Would be super curious to hear if you had any thoughts about Sonic Forces Overclocked?
Definitely feel you on getting turned around during first playthroughs... it makes me a bit cautious for this game. Falling off of tall platforms is also a bummer, as you have to flounder around looking for a way to get back up. I would have preferred they just respawn you somewhere when you hit the water, honestly. I think with really, really good level design all of this could be mitigated, but it's definitely a tough problem to tackle.

Very accurate review! I hope they’ll find ways to improve the orientation-problem and give some better use-cases for the override mechanic. I also think the game would benefit from a „tech“-mechanic to regain your momentum after getting hit, because coming to a complete halt in a game like this hurts.
Overall though, the demo was incredibly fun. I‘m definitely supporting the Kickstarter.

I was already sold but I didn’t know until this video that it’s by the Sonic GT guy. GT is my favorite Sonic game of all time so I am ELATED to try this out and support them.

Rollin' Rascal is basically Sonic Utopia, but instead of being a mediocre project that never came to fruition, it is a full-fledged game with a strong sense of identity.

Not exactly the same.
I bought the kickstarter! Only issue: controls at high speed are way too stiff and I wish they had a dedicated spindash button that you can charge. I hate mashing for spindash and it sucks that if you hold charge it charges way too slow compared to mashing.
Well, hopefully they'll listen to feedback and change the controls if enough people ask for it.
does anyone know why when i roll with rascal like charge and roll his texture is just white
You can find qt at the house on the island when you start the game in Buccaneers Beach
Also, when you do the drop Dash mid air and press a it shoots you in that direction

This game is not going to kill Sonic.
I looked at the kickstarter page and it won’t be released in the final version until 2026.
This looks/sounds like what Sonic fans have been waiting for...and what Sonic devs simply have not the skill to create.
If you're comments outside the review are anything to go by, it was fun to have ya for a mo', and I hope you have an excellent 2024 and beyond.
You left a channel with some superb evaluations on Sonic as a 3d platforming franchise, and many would agree that you deserve to rest on your laurels.

reminds me of defunct but with more platforming. That game is also really punishing with so called flow states.

I hate how slow you turn at high speeds. It’s the same reason I could never get into Sonic GT.
Game looks great but I could tell within seconds even before you said anything that the hijacking mechanic looks like a bad fit for this game. Hopefully there's not too much of it in the game
As much as I liked the controls, I really hate this style of level design. Way too open and doesn't really feel cohesive.
Spark and Rollin' Rascal are better at being Sonic then Sonic lmaooooooo

Bruh if players get lost they should add a mini map! boom issue sloved, developers be so brain dead to not implement a option to have a turn on and off feature especially when it comes to more open ended platformers like spyro.
Getting lost should be a part of more games, imo. Get good.
I think this game does look great. The only problem I have is with the character design. Rascal looks dumb. What even is his hair situation? Is he bald or not? His ponytail looks like a rubber magnet stuck to the back of his head. If he lets down his ponytail does he have a skullet? That's disgusting!
