About The Golden Girls:
Dorothy, Blanche, Rose & Sophia are four young-at-heart housemates living together in Miami. Bright, promiscuous, clueless and hilarious, these lovely, mismatched ladies form the perfect circle of friends. The Golden Girls originally aired from 1985 x0096 1992 receiving critical acclaim throughout most of its run and winning several awards, including the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy Series twice and several Golden Globes. All four stars each received an Emmy Award throughout the series' run and have had multiple nominations. The series also ranked among the top ten highest-rated programs for six out of its seven seasons.

According to the writer of The Golden Girls, this is the episode where they poked fun at the tension among the actresses around the Emmy time each year. Inevitably they would all get nominated and, except Estelle, against each other, just like their characters would be vying for The Best Friend of the Year award later in this episode and the actresses knew what the writer was hinting
What's with the exception for Estelle?
MrSoBitchy Estelle got best supporting actress nomination while the other are in the leading actress category, so she didn't directly compete against her costars

How is Sophia a lead? She's the comic relief. The other three often do things without her (main plot), while Sophia does hers (subplot).

We say it in the US too, either bless you or Gesundheit.

@@Pippa-tf8je I am from Austria. And friends from the UK normaly say "Bless You!" If someone is sneezing. I am a German speaker and the equivalent to "Bless You" is "Gesundheit". At least in Austria. We would also say "Helf' dir Gott" which means "May god Help you". So we are back to "Bless you" which comes from that church stuff again. And the circle is closed. Have a nice day. Baba. As we say in Austria :)
