@@dennisdempseyradiooutofcontrol - do you know of any after market shocks that will fit these trucks. I bought some g-made piggybacks and as i found out they are too big.
@@mikemorgan2733 rc4wd has a lot of scale shocks, the Bruiser / HG-P407 factory shocks are 80mm from the lower mounting hole to the tip of the top threads, most 80/90mm small barrel shocks can be adapted to the HG-P407 heres a link to the rc4wd shocks store.rc4wd.com/Suspension-Shocks_c_23.html
I am delighted with your work. Thank you for the video shot, otherwise I'm tired of changing gears for transmissions, I already ordered this part to Russia from Tamiya slipper, did not have time to put the slipper as the plastic spur rolled up, now I will order on ebay speur STBR7019T so that everything is made of metal ... Вы лучший!!!
Denny, that is pure genius. I'd probably tried to grind (or file) the Tamiya gear dogs into a hex so that it would fit the HG shift collar but your way is much better since the collars are aluminum and should be easier to modify (at least I think they are aluminum anyway). Great how-to video. You da man!!
Thanks! that was my first thought to grind the gear but there wouldn't be much material left and after the 4wd conversion there would be a lot of strain on the gear in third, I been there before with my day one Bruiser when I converted it to nitro ( total instant drivetrain destruction! lol ) now with all the brushless options out there I think this mod will be better.
You know, I still like the RWD option. It just gives it a scale feel. I like to do doughnuts I guess. Or get stuck pulling the boats out of the water, and have to slap it in low 4WD to get un-stuck. LOL. Besides, I only crawl mine, too pretty to bash I guess. You know how it is, once you get the paint and the tail gate and hood to open up with an LS motor simulated cooling fan and steering wheel to move, wipers, spare tire, RC4WD interior, ect. . But that slipper clutch I always felt I needed for some reason. Why? I have'nt the vaguest idea, I just do. So good show my man. You are the HG P407 go to guru.
I still like the 2wd option also, in real life we usually don't drive around in locked 4wd lol, after doing a nice build like your truck its better to slow things down and enjoy the ride. I found out the smaller the wheel (1.55-1.9 ) the less chance of busting teeth in the tranny, I was running a soft tall 2.2 tire with a 9 turn 11.1 v brushless in my 407 to see how far I could push the envelope and it stripped the slipper clutch teeth right off lol. My slipper mod worked flawlessly with a brushed motor and 7.4v, thanks for the support my friend and I will keep the videos coming!
Hello Dennis, Same question here as before for the Xtra speed for my SCX10. I also have a P407 and it has a pretty big pinion. Do you have any idea what pitch or module the P407 spur and pinion are, I can not find it anywhere. I would like to gear it down as well. Or if you have any link to pinions for the p407. Much appreciated
Good call getting the kit to assemble yourself, the rtr kits come with low quality electronics and eventually need upgraded, not to mention the stripped threads and hardware.
I have a p407, and added the tamiya slipper. But I didn't have to dremel anything. I'm not sure what I've missed in your video. One thing i will say is my p407 has half of the button head hex bolts WAY over torqued. The heads stripped trying to crack them. Only way I could get them out was to cut the button heads and use a standard screw driver. Where any of your p407 bolts over torqued also?
Hmmm, that makes me curious, Is your shift collar filly engaging on the tamiya slipper gear or just pressing against it in 3rd gear? They must use a cordless screw gun or drill to install those button heads because mine were also over torqued and a couple were stripped out.
I'm experimenting with 3d printing and I'm thinking about building my own slipper clutch system in the spur gear. I have the HGp407 but I have never taken apart the transmission yet so IDK what to expect in terms of how many teeth it has. I'm wondering if I could get away with modifying a traxxas slipper
I am running a 9 turn brushless on 3s and have not broken any gears yet, I did ruin one set of clutches so far though, the slipper clutch mod protected the gears.
@@gabrielemerenda6470 You should be ok with the stock setup, the slipper clutch mod I did worked well under rough driving. I am a member on the HG-P407 aka Bruiser group on facebook,
Now that it pure genius. You sir are a pioneer in the 407 field of upgrades. Thank you so much.
Thanks! I'm glad to contribute! If they cant provide the upgrades we will !! lol

Reading comments about over torqued bolts makes me think I'll get the kit instead of buying the RTR version. I can select the electrics myself.

Oh just so were clear, from what I gather the HGp407 does not have a slipper of any kind in its design?
Would you have HG P407 over a bruiser?
Comparing costs yes, the bruisers are so expensive to buy, then you think twice about modifying them, the hg-p407 is very affordable to own and run .
