    Thanks for pointing out the balance transfer trap by citi

    The Citi double cash card makes you wait for that 2%, you have to pay everything off to get the full 2% of your purchases. The problem with this Citi card is you have to spend $1,250 in the statement cycle to clear the $25 reward, that's right the minimum redemption is $25. The quicksilver card, there is no minimum, redeem as often as you want. The rewards come in quick with quicksilver, lol.

    Can't do Capital One with that three bureau hard pulls; PayPal Master Card 2% underrated and best between Citi Double and Quicksilver. Really enjoyed your explanation on the bonus strategy. I'm really careful not to spend on purchases i would not normally spend to meet that bonus . I made that mistake couple times, but you live and learn.

      Synchrony (PayPal MasterCard) and Citi (Double Cash) neither have a small balance waiver.
      Capital One (Quicksilver) has a $1 small balance waiver. This nullifies the rewards on the first $51 of spend each month on the Citi/Synchrony cards.
      Capital One = $1.00 spend = $1.02 cash back
      Synchrony/Citi = $51.00 spend = $1.02 cash back

    I just got the Quick Silver, I noticed it also had a 0% interest balance transfer 15 months as well (kinda hard to notice). Came in clutch to help with my mothers insane 28%ish on her 3200 credit card with Lowes. Not traped by the citi card as you mentioned with purchases! :)

    Adam,
    Nice video and good explanation. I did not no that about the double cash and the BT and new purchases. Citibank credit cards aren't all that great. People rave about that double cash card. I prefer the PayPal cashback mastercard myself. I got approved for it and a 1200 dollar limit. Higher then capital one and they still won't raise my limit. Stuck at 600 bucks on my QS. I use the venmo and Paypal cards for most of my out of category spend. And discover card for the first year cashback match. Happy with what I have. Gardening now and you have helped me a lot by talking about treating credit cards like debit cards and only use them for what you have to buy anyway. Been subscriber for 2 years now on proud money. Glad to see this extra channel pickup. Did you see that Petco has a credit card now. Is it good I don't know..lol. love the content.

    I can't believe the Sam's Club Mastercard is a better option for travel now than the PayPal offering. I do wonder if Synchrony will sneak that into the Sam's Club offering, though.

    Citi Is still better because think about it, if you only using one card you are probably gonna pay your bills with the card too which means you’ll get the bonus right away. Now you are stuck with a 1.5 percent card vs a 2% card which works better in the long run assuming you pay your bills and stuff with the card each month. Also you should probably hold cards longer and not cancel them so citi is still better I feel like. Now compare it to chase unlimited then I would argue chase could be better due to categories possibly

    The new TD card is giving a $75 bonus on 2% flat, and their business version is giving $150. That means TD starts beating capital one after $10,000 spend.

    • @featherpony
      @featherpony 3 года назад

      TD has no small balance waiver. Capital One has $1 small balance waiver. So that'll sink the first $51 spend on your TD card each month right there.
      Capital One = $1.00 spend = $1.02 cash back
      TD/Citi = $51.00 spend = $1.02 cash back
