I like how Satipo has a somewhat consistent presence in the Indians Jones merchandise despite being in Raiders for only the first scene

Speaking of Indiana Jones he was originally going to appear in The Lego Movie, as in the original script for the film (Back when it was known as Lego: The Piece of Resistance.) he appears in the opening scene on a search for the aforementioned Piece. And he also appears at the end where he interacts with Han Solo. But it's not just that, Chewbacca and R2-D2 also had major roles in this original version. This was all canned as Warner Bros couldn't get the rights from Lucasfilm to use them, but they were able to use Han Solo, Chewbacca, Lando Calrissian and C-3PO for a quick cameo in the final film, which all had to be done very quickly as Disney were just about to buy Lucasfilm. And because of the whole Disney Lucasfilm thing, the remaining 3 Lego Movies couldn't feature any Star Wars or Indiana Jones characters, (Likely because Warner didn't want to end up in any legal battles with the Mouse.) and now that the Lego Movies have moved to Universal after The Lego Movie 2 underperformed, this will likely stay the same.

I remember people saying the 2008 line wasn't the best because it was missing certain characters like Toht and Donovan but if you actually look at it, they got most of the named characters done. Sure there were a few missing but it wasn't as bad as the Adventure Series which had whole movies missing and one movie just represented by 2 characters. I love the Adventure Series but I do wish they'd done it properly and released all the main characters for each film. It's not like Star Wars where there are hundreds and hundreds of characters that can be made and remade again and again. Us Indy fans weren't asking for much. I've completed my collection and now I'm getting doubles to convert them into other characters like turning Donovan into Dietrich and Vogel or Club Obi Wan Indy into Lao Che

OMG!! I can’t believe that they included the two camera mounts on the front of the two canopy trucks!! That’s what those two sticks on either side of the grill with “golf balls” on the top are. They are still on the actual vehicle used in Last Crusade today. The truck sits at the end of the exit of the Indy ride at Disneyland, just as you exit back outside. It’s a special piece of Indy history fans are allowed to get close to and touch (not climb!).

I don't think that Temple of Doom is racist, as the whole dinner scene at Pankot is meant to represent people you don't want to be around. #BringtheGreatCircletoPS5.

Finding Indy figures in 2023 has been closer to a ARG role play of Indy’s searches for lost artifacts. I’ve been EXTREMELY lucky to have found series 1 Indy, Temple of Doom (bridge scene) Indy, Helena Shaw, Donovan, Kazeem, and Club Obi Wan Indy. Prof Indy is my current quest!
I’m VERY disappointed about Moola Ram!! Can only hope that whoever is now in charge of Lucasfilm will reverse this decision. (KK is on “extended leave” as acting President for the next 18 months or so, her corporate email was shut down, and she is not allowed on Lucasfilm or Disney grounds unless given special permission by the acting CEO of Disney)
Moola Ram would be SUCH an amazing figure in this line! The detail and how well they’ve so far executed this line is superb! I’ve only run into Salah and Marion twice, but was broke. Now I NEED Shortround! Unfortunately these figures completely disappear before I’m even aware of their existence. They are FLYING off shelves!

Indy just can't get a break in pop culture outside of his movies and maybe comics. I just finished a video about how his video game dreams have been sputtering since the beginning.

This was a great look at the Indiana Jones toys throughout the years. I never new there were so many toys for the release of Indiana Jones and the kingdom of the crystal skull. I hope you do more of these kinds of videos in the future.

Yeah that sweet era of 2008-2009 everyone went all in for Indiana Jones toys, video games, and just everything it you can feel the excitement for the movie. It’s a shame with the last movie it feels like the toys are going out on a whimper like LEGO only making 3 sets and hasbro not even making 3.75” articulated figures

@@legoman2313 it sad as a lego fan that lego didn’t release more Indiana Jones sets. They went all out for the theme in the 2000’s but now Lego’s to nervous to release any set related to tanks or war planes. They even cancelled an already finished set cause it was similar to a military plane.

I would’ve LOVED to have those mid-2000s toys as a kid. I got obsessed with Indiana Jones just after they all got discontinued, and all I ever found were undesirables at discount stores. So……as much as I dislike Dial of Destiny, I’m glad it exists so new toys can get made. And I can finally fill that void in my heart

I had the first Disney Parks 4” figure. Never knew that they’d released other figures as well as that singular Indy figure was all I saw after numerous trips to the park. I was a HUGE Indy and Star Wars fan. Had a BUNCH of the Star Wars POTF2 and finding an Indy figure of the same scale made me VERY happy. I just wish I had vehicles to use him with.
Very surprised by those super detailed 7(?) inch figs. Don’t recall ever seeing those, and just so you are aware, that tiny Indiana Jones store was a destination that I never failed to visit on my trips to the park. Star Trader being the other, of course. Haven’t been to the park since the Star Wars “land” opened, however, because of the mask mandates, combined with the rise in ticket prices while they cut corners everywhere, and hiked up the prices on concessions and souvenirs, it hasn’t been worth it to me to go. The Tron coaster opening in Florida does have me VERY tempted, however as I’ve never been to the Florida parks and since KK took over and set on destroying Lucas’s legacy which made me give up on Star Wars, TRON became my main sci fi obsession.

Beyond Mola Ram there's also no sign of Cairo Swordsman, Monkey Man, the Thugees, or Lao Che. Cairo Swordsman was the only retro figure replaced from series 1 with the German Mechanic. I have a bad feeling that villains of any ethinicity other than German aren't happening. Which is one of the reasons I've largely skipped buying anything. Glad I still have the 2008 figures.

What's funny is that we aren't even getting Nazis either. The only villains that we got that are German are Toht and Voller

I bought Wave 1 of the Adventure Series as soon as I could. Without Mola Ram, I don't see a point in buying the Temple of Doom figures. I also didn't want to have to buy Dial of Destiny figures to complete the skull. Without Temple of Doom figures, getting Last Crusade ones doesn't seem important. I don't even think we're going to get any Germans outside of Toht, and Raiders will seem incomplete without German Mechanic, Dietrich, or Cairo Swordsman.

Be interesting to know how well these will do for children, rather than collectors, against what’s the huge ‘adventure’ brand in toy stores - Jurassic Park. Be I’m guessing the aim here isn’t really to appeal to kids, anymore than the movie with it’s aim squarely on an aging audience.

They really botched the build up to Indy 5. You look at Indy 4 and Paramount/Lucasfilm pulled out all the stops to market that film. They did brand deals with so many other companies, released Lego sets for all 4 films, released action figures for all 4 films, board games, other toys, collectables, video games, books, comics, etc. You couldn't escape Indy back in 2008. Even if you didn't know what it was, they wanted you to know. Disney/Lucasfilm barely did anything this year. You look back at their build up to Indy 5 and it was nothing compared to The Force Awakens or the build up to Indy 4. There were kids/teens that had no idea what Indy was because the series has been dead for over a decade. You need to build that hype and interest up. Even some adults were shocked that a new Indy film was coming out. Releasing a bigger line of Lego sets and more toys would've been one way of doing it right. Also putting the older films on Disney+ earlier in the year instead of a month before the new film came out

Where did you find that picture at 1:23? I loved Lego Indiana Jones as a child so any nostalgic retail pictures, be they photographs or promotional, are something I love to find.

I wonder if Mullaram is an image licensing thing. His actor was a big Bollywood actor (not sure if he's dead or alive, just found out about him in a Patrick Willems video) so maybe him or his family is trying to regain control over his image as more people are able to watch Bollywood films. Or they are asking for a lot of money that Disney doesn't think they will make back. Not sure how that would effect the Legos, but could just be for consistency too there.

Doubtful. I'm pretty sure Lucasfilm usually doesn't have to worry about likenesses because Lucas got most of them back when he made the films. He died in 2005. Also they made a figure of him for the 2008 line

I like what they've released, but with Disney being the way they are, we probably won't see Mola Ram, Colonel Vogel, Cairo Swordsman, Dietrich, German Mechanic, or the Giant Thugee in the 6in line. I've got all the Raiders ones so far but won't buy Temple or Crusade figures because the set would be incomplete without villains.

(24:50) WAITWAITWAITWAIT!! Is that a figurine from a line meant specifically to be targeted towards young children of MOOLA RAM WITH A FLAMING HEART?!?! While Temple was a favorite film of mine as a child (born in 82 and saw temple in theatres. Still the most intense PG movie ever!!) I still know people that can’t watch that scene because it traumatized them as children.
