Ignore this post, just saw the comment on the Vudoo 360 video saying you sold the RimX. I'm going to leave the post in case it helps someone else. Did you ever end up sending the rifle in? My initial thoughts on potential issues: -Ringed barrel. If you had a bullet get stuck in the barrel and then the next bullet pushed it out, this would create a ring where the rifling is deformed. This can be checked by shining a flashlight from the receiver (bolt out) and looking down the muzzle. Look for a black ring. I have seen it many times, primarily on guns that have longer barrels and we're shooting lower quality ammo (but I have a box of CCI that is 10% bad, so who knows?) -Excessive headspace, you can check with feeler gauges -Barrel is improperly torqued, if it's loose and simply being held in place with some threadlocker, it may have developed misalignment/headspace issues after initial groups -Chamber is oversize, probably the best way to check is pin gauges. Second best by measuring fired brass OD vs fired brass from a known good chamber. It's possible the gunsmith failed to properly dial the barrel/reamer in, resulting in a crooked/oversize chamber. If the chamber is crooked, you would have to check it in a lathe Also, I know MPA makes an adjustable magazine catch that lets you control the height of the magazine in their chassis. Not sure if it (or something like it) would fit your stock, but that may be the fix for your feed issues. Sorry for the long post. Lol
Thanks for the honest explanation of your experiences. I've seen the frustration a missfeed in a rimX can cause during a match since the fixed extractor doesn't let you push feed a round that may have jumped in front of the claw. I ran a rimX for a few weeks and quite liked it, it had a PVA barrel and was in an MDT ACC, never had any feeding/extraction issues. The rimX mags are better than the Vudoo mags for sure. Hope you figure out the issues, would be interested in an update video!

i ended up selling it. i have filled out a vudoo order sheet about 20 times but am having a tough time pulling the trigger on a 2k gun that i'll have to wait 20 weeks for ya know?
You just figured out your problem, if the rounds are not feeding properly , you are damaging the bullets. Was it a Prefit from proof?? If not the builder might not have chamfered the muzzle properly, If a pre-fit why did you have to send it too anyone to simple torque a barrel on?
it was a prefit yes. the first smith that originally put it together just torqued it down and said f it its good. it shot like absolute trash i'm talkin inch at 50 yards. had another smith take a look at it and they cut a new chamber and crown. did better but still not worth what i had in it. ruined me for shooting to be honest. all that money and it woulnd't even cycle let alone fire a round.
I don’t trust mismatching parts. I’ve seen to many issues. I dropped the ball on a complete custom voodoo. Main reason is that if there is a problem i feel comfortable that they will take it back and find out what’s wrong with it and fix it. Sorry to hear about your experience. I don’t buy custom guns so this one excites me and makes me very nervous. Have you got any updates on your rifle?
yea i learned my lesson the hard way here. cut my losses and sold it. got a vudoo about 1.5 months back and its fantastic. runs like a top and shoots lights out.
It's the Proof barrel not the action, they have had bad batch. I have a 18 inch Proof Competition Contour barrel on one of my RimXs my buddy has the same. Mine shoots lights out and his not. He sent his to Lapua as well and had the same problem. My second RimX has a PVA 12T and it shoots 0.3s at 100 yards.
yea the action was nice and smooth. i just didn't have the time, money, or patience to send it BACK out to be worked on for a THIRD time on my own dime. lesson learned. i know those PVA barrels are really nice i wanted to get one when i was building this but they were just like everything else. OOS
i have a few in-stock notifications set but everything seems to be forever OOS and vudoo right now is up to like an 18 week lead time or something ridiculous.
i had one when they very first came out. varmint version and the performance was shitty. before i got my vudoo i had in stock notifications set on a few area 419 built 457s but they have been out of stock for the better part of 6 months.
Hi Corey!.... how about an update on that beautiful, but disappointing rifle now? Were you able to get accuracy to improve, or is it a lost cause? Sure hope it shoots better now...
na it was pretty much a lost cause. i spent so much time trying to get it to just feed reliably and it wouldn't do that. would run perfect for about 100 rounds then start effing up again. and you know once you get a feeding issue with a rimx its a stage stopper. very disappointing
If that rifles not fixed after you send it back. I’ll buy that stock off you. Haha. A friend of mine was at the lapua center today and they couldn’t find anything for his 457 mtr. But he asked to should his ammo (sk rifle match) and it ragged holed it.
I"ll take you up on that LOL but not sure you wanna pay retail! it's in a shop right now where people actually know what they're doing so i feel good about. Once this ammo crisis is over the test center is going to start selling SK again which is great. Can get a case for like 550.

Hi, Corey....well after many months of frustration with this proof barrel, did you ever replace the barrel with something else? Change the headspace (assuming one can do this with a rimfire?)
i decided to sell it and cut my losses. i'd already spent by far more than any person ever should on a 22 and couldn't get myself to send it BACK out and pay more freight to be worked on for a gun that should shoot a single hole group at 50 yards. went to the dark side and got a vudoo and it was a good choice.

How do you feel about Zermatt Arms? I love my Bergara b14r got it thanks to your review. I was planning on building a 6mm creedmoor using Proof barrel and Big Horn Origin Action. Would you suggest against it?
first of all i'm glad you like your bergara, its the best 22 for the money and you can't change my mind. as far as zermatt goes the action itself is VERY smooth, probably the smoothest on the market so i'm sure it would be just as good if not better. i am still having feeding issues with it but you won't have those with a center fire, at least i hope not lol. as far as barrels go i've been disappointed with mine. it needed a lot of work and for the money it should not. i know proof makes solid stuff thats why i went with it but i've been more disappointed in that than anything. good luck!
Did you give up on this rifle? I know a gunsmith in ohio who can figure this thing out, in my opinion, the chamber wasnt cut correctly. Its not the first time ive seen a proof barrel shoot like shit
@@coreyd1474 The gun smith is Greg Walley. He's actually a Zermatt dealer. Without seeing that rifle, my guess the problem was the barrel not the action. I just checked out the Curtis tactical fb page about what was up with your barrel and all I have to say is WTF is going on at Gunware. I'm in MO and shoot both MOST centerfire and rimfire matches and I know a few guys (good people) that are sponsored by them, that's a complete shame that came from my state. I know my gunsmith had some issues with rimx and apparently zermatt changed up the specs and he was having issues with the headspacing being too deep aswell, to the point they wouldn't even ignite the cartridge. I've heard of quite a few guys I shoot with having accuracy and feeding issues like you and they were quite pissed off, and understandably so. All of these horror stories are why I got a vudoo 360 and while it shoots excellent, vudoo cerakoted the inside of the action and made it a binding fucking mess. It wasn't just mine either, 3 other local guys all are dealing with the something I am. After cycling the action probably 15k times and a little bit of toothpaste on the bolt it has slicked it up quite nicely but for a $1900 barrel action and 6 month wait, it's fucking bullshit. CZ can give you a nitrided barreled action for $500. My the impact 737r on my 6 dasher is dlc coated and the barreled action costed just a hair over $2100. But vudoo can't even be bothered to shove a dowl inside the action before cerakoting
i would love to have a vudoo but i don't want to wait 5 months to get it. i have been very seriously considering a ultimatum deuce action BUT the mags on those are adjustable too which makes me really nervous. don't want to have another debacle like this especially for the price you pay for these barreled actions.

They even upgraded some parts at no cost. It shoots awesome now and no issues. Hope everything works out for u.
i ended up selling it. i have filled out a vudoo order sheet about 20 times but am having a tough time pulling the trigger on a 2k gun that i'll have to wait 20 weeks for ya know?
OOS
Hey man, any new stuff coming soon? Very excited to see what direction you go and what guns we see next.
i have a few in-stock notifications set but everything seems to be forever OOS and vudoo right now is up to like an 18 week lead time or something ridiculous.
@@coreyd1474 Out of curiosity, whats your vudoo build look like?
@@larryhardside7636 i don't have one. i wish i did.
Any chance that you will add a CZ457 to your fleet ? You’ll love the 10 round magazines: compact, easy to load and no feeding issues.
i had one when they very first came out. varmint version and the performance was shitty. before i got my vudoo i had in stock notifications set on a few area 419 built 457s but they have been out of stock for the better part of 6 months.
All I can say is CZ 457 MTR
Hope you get your rifle sorted out! I just got myself a B14r Carbon and I’m excited to test it out.
i love the b14r. best all around 22 for the money no doubt.
Was about to put together a near identical rifle, just with an 18in barrel. Might look at a bartlein instead 😬
YES go bartlein or PVA save yourself some headache. buy once cry once
@@coreyd1474 well retail or wait 15 weeks for retail. Haha and I didn’t know they sold sk. My friend said they could only sell lapua with they way their network is set up.
@@FlowBaka when I ordered a case of center x it came in less than a week. They 1000% have sk on their list but can't sell it until supplies are back up. I was just there a few weeks ago

LOL thanks for your concern!

no i haven't. i don't have this rifle any more.
glad to your back bro. sorry your rifle sucks hope you get it all worked out.
thanks! me too, this build looks way too good to be as bad as it is LOL
That’s a big step up. Nice rifle
yea it really is nice to look at
I’m thinking where the barrel is attached to action. That’s where the action happens. How about credible gunsmith reattach barrel. What about your crown? Get damaged?
i actually just got it back from a credible smith that pulled the barrel in and recut the chamber and fixed the thread depth on the barrel for the suppressor plus put a new crown on it. needless to say it was all effed up.
So I’m curious. Have you shot since the fix?
@@sekaf4125 i have but i haven't really sat down and retested at 50. cant find a day that isn't 20 mph winds. i had it out last weekend we were messing around out to about 327 and that was no problem.
Good. I’m hopping it’s an absolute tac driver, the way it should be. I just got a call from Vudoo. My gun is being shipped. I to am very excited. I wanted the manners stock like you have but it’s 6 months out with manners
@@sekaf4125 check altus. thats where i got this one from. they had a few different colors in stock. was kinda disappointed tho they say it'll accept a heavy palma contour barrel but this one hit about half way down the barrel channel and needed to be worked by the smith. for 1300 you expect no issues.
Your first target(S) were awesome, then you get problems. Strange, what has the manufacture said on the accuracy?
proof wanted me to send the whole gun in to them. i just wasn't up for jumping through more hoops and spending my own money to make this gun perform how it should have in the first place.
@@coreyd1474 I know Rick at Isyour6covered loves his RimX .22 and he gets amazing groups with Eley Match...but his rifle came from Desert Precision Gunworks ( Kenny) with a Kreiger 22" barrel. Maybe your Proof barrel was the issue?
@@theoutlawjoseywales8711 according to the second gunsmith that actually gave a shit about it and tried to fix it the barrel was WAY out of spec. the action on rimx is fantastic don't get me wrong i just went about it the wrong way to begin with.
I have a Kidd super grade that is doing the same thing. 4 through the same hole then the 5th it goes where it wants. I have tried all kinds of ammo, mounting screw torque, and two different suppressors nothing helps. So I’m looking at picking up a Vudoo do you have any experience with them? I’m nervous at spending that much and not much improvement.
i have shot with a ton of people who use vudoo. 90% of them have feeding issues as well but i don't see much of the accuracy issue. they perform well in that area. 5 month lead time for them though.
Just for fun try a different scope. These groups all over the place with no consistency is screaming bad turrets to me. Colin Noir was doing AR training with a very time tested gun when out of nowhere he couldn’t hit a damned thing.
i cut my losses with this gun a LONG time ago. upgraded to a vudoo. should have just done that in the first place.
How do you feel about Zermatt Arms? I love my Bergara b14r got it thanks to your review. I was planning on building a 6mm creedmoor using Proof barrel and Big Horn Origin Action. Would you suggest against it?
first of all i'm glad you like your bergara, its the best 22 for the money and you can't change my mind. as far as zermatt goes the action itself is VERY smooth, probably the smoothest on the market so i'm sure it would be just as good if not better. i am still having feeding issues with it but you won't have those with a center fire, at least i hope not lol. as far as barrels go i've been disappointed with mine. it needed a lot of work and for the money it should not. i know proof makes solid stuff thats why i went with it but i've been more disappointed in that than anything. good luck!
Thanks man! I always appreciate a honest opinion.
@@The-Handy-Dad hey no one is paying me yet or sending me stuff so i'll all be honest until then LOL
Did you give up on this rifle? I know a gunsmith in ohio who can figure this thing out, in my opinion, the chamber wasnt cut correctly. Its not the first time ive seen a proof barrel shoot like shit
oh yea this thing sucked. whos the smith?
@@coreyd1474 The gun smith is Greg Walley. He's actually a Zermatt dealer. Without seeing that rifle, my guess the problem was the barrel not the action. I have not been impressed with anything chambered by proof.
I had a stock 10/22 barrel set back and a bentz chamber cut, unbelievable how much it better it shot. If the bullets were not jamming, I'd suspect that was the main problem. Feeding/magazine issues is another thing.
@@hebes4056 yea the guy i took it to had to recut the chamber and crown and it just still didn't shoot well at all not to mention the manners had to be worked on to get it to fit just an all around awesome gun on paper that turned out to be complete shit
On a brighter note, how is the Bergara b14r holding up? Still holding strong groups?
yes it is. those are solid guns.
Corey! Did you fixed the extraction on your tikka tx1?
i sold that a long time ago but yes the guy that bought it did.
@@coreyd1474 man, I finally found someone with the same problem I had in my tikka!! I sent it off 4 months ago and beretta just revived it 2 months ago and they haven’t even inspected it. Very upset with that. But I bought a b14r carbon a few days ago, and loved your review and ammo test with yours!
Corey, have you ever thought of broadening your horizons into pcp air rifles?
yes i have actually. the only thing holding me back is having to buy an air compressor to fill it.
@@coreyd1474 there is no easy, cheap way to fill them, scuba tanks are popular. Compressors can be had fairly inexpensively these day's and may be the better long term plan.
@@TimBiagi for NOW i will probably hold off, i have a fair amount of 22 ammo but if prices and availability stay like this i will look in to it more seriously. i know there is a ton of them that shoot lights out.
@@coreyd1474 I hear that, I love shooting my rimfires, but I have been discouraged by ammo pricing and availability and my search for an accurate rifle. A buddy of mine bought a fx dreamline and it easily shoots 1/2" groups at 50 yards and it made me rethink things for multiple reasons.
Thanks for your time.
Hey dude any updates on the status of the accuracy of the rifle? Did you send it into proof?
it got slightly better after i got it back from the smith but still was pretty sucky. couldn't get it to reed either. proof wanted the whole rifle on my dime and i was just tired of spending money and time on it.

here's my take away from all these 22s. the rimx action is by far the best but for overall quality and accuracy bergara is #1, tikka is a close second because that action is amazing. glad you like the bravo, hard to go wrong with those IMO.

Guys have gotten 1-ragged-hole groups at 100yds with a Ruger 10/22 using Aguila 40gr bullets. Why spend all the money? It's all about chamber, harmonic tuning the barrel, cartridge crimp, concentricity with bore, and sorting the ammo by diameter and weight.

Very nice looking unit shame about groupings.
yea its beautiful. its at a smith now who actually knows what he's doing so hopefully i'll have a good showing for part 2.
That sucks man. My $450 savage would outshoot that rifle with bulk ammo. My Win 52D barely opens 1 hole up with 10 round groups at 50 yds.
yea i have a savage b22 precision that shoots basically one hole groups and i bought it for 400 bucks lol
Sounds like a bad barrel. Try a Kreiger with a EC tuner
definitely not what i expected from proof. probably won't go with them any more in the furture.
Fuck that sucks feeling your disappointment
good thing this rifle is long gone. the vudoo is running 100%
Thanks for your candor about your results with this Rifle. This sort of thing can be very frustrating and after spending that level of money I don’t blame you for being angry. I would be too, and as far as I’m concerned you can leave the language in as it helps convey What it’s like to deal with this. You should not have had these problems after investing this amount of money
yea lesson learned the hard way. that lesson is money doesnt buy you accuracy. the stock didn't fit well and the barrel sucked. should have just stuck with the bergara. althougt my vudoo is the best 22 i've ever shot.
I’ll have to check out the Bergara rifles.
