    I don't know why people say that something is "dead". I'm not exactly sure how to react to that saying.🎸⚰️

      Well, this statement Gene has used to essentially say the old business model of huge record deals was ruined because of file sharing etc. I'm just saying that there are a ton of fantastic bands out there that are reinventing the industry and pointing out some of the bands I think deserve to be checked out. Thanks for watching!

    when Ace left for the 2nd time around 2001, it was over.. They then proceded to make a mockery of themselves, and as u said, became a novelty. 73- 78 was legitimately cool, and it was all about the music for me; the mystique n image was a bonus

    Love Shinedown. Thought that was interesting that Lizzzy Hale became lead singer for Skid Row. Gene Simmons Ego is something else😂🤣.

    Rock never really dies, but in saying that theres no new bands doing anything remotely rock related like it used to be in the 60s - 80s, and thats partly due to record company and radio station monopoly to play the new tay tay music on heavy rotation. All the great old rock bands are in thwir retirement phaze, any bands still doing rock kile foo fighters are already becoming seniors and theres nothing new on the horizon. Unfortunately all we have is whats left until theyre all gone.

    • @stevelongmusic880

      Agreed, the record companies are greedy. When I moved to the mid-west US a few years ago, I found some stations
      that still play new rock, and its awesome! Several of the bands I talked about they play. We need more of that, but there are fewer and fewer independent stations, or stations tied in with the conglomerates that won't go against the grain. I tried to pick bands with some uniqueness to show there is still some creativity out there. But rock lovers are going to have to share the bands with others to help them grow followings. Thanks for watching!

    I was surprisingly shocked at how good Alice Cooper's "paranormal" album (2017) was. To me, it's far better than the 70s stuff

    Hard Rock and Metal hasn’t been preeminent since post grunge era in early 2000s.
    Pop punk is probably the genre that is tangentially adjacent to rock that still chart.
    So, yeah there are talented newer-ish bands that might make some waves (you mentioned a few). But the genre over all is on life support. Where is the next Metallica and GnR? Last band to get hopes up might be Ghost but they’ve kind of petered out.

    • @stevelongmusic880
      @stevelongmusic880  5 месяцев назад

      Yeah you are right, but the record companies don’t push rock, and most stations stick the same old tired rotation. I’m lucky enough to live somewhere where they play brand new rock on the radio still. The music scene is changing (or really has) but young bands working to bring it back I think deserve our attention. Thanks for watching! Appreciate it!

      @@stevelongmusic880I inundate my teenage daughter with metal/hard rock music on our drive to school. Megadeth, Dokken, Slayer and Billy Idol on a heavy rotation. That’s how you restore rock - gotta pass it down directly

    Simmons is not wrong. Regardless of how many new ROCK or MeTaL bands are out there, they will never experience the Huge Stardom & SUCCE$$
    Let's face it, all these so called new bands lack Creativity. It's a continuous COOKIE CUTTER!🙄😶👎

    • @stevelongmusic880
      @stevelongmusic880  6 месяцев назад

      Well, you do have a point, there are a lot of bands that have similar sounds, and that's too bad. I did try to focus on the bands that have more uniqueness in the video. You are right, the old-school way to stardom and success with big money from the record companies is gone, but that doesn't mean it can't be achieved in other ways, and it may encourage the bands to focus more on the quality of their music rather than lining some fat-cat at the record companies pockets. Thanks for watching!
