Van Halen got too radio-friendly after Fair Warning, which is a great album.

Amsterdam is the only song I like on Balance , lol. Inside is the most irritating song on this entire list to me. If I have any control when it comes on, I skip it immediately.

Hang Em High is a standout track on Diver Down and can hold its own against a lot of their other tracks. But it's overshadowed by all the covers plus DD basically being disowned by everybody involved. It also became the point of no return for the band, 1984 notwithstanding.

EVH was a great harmonizer not a singer. He almost sounds tone deaf.

My fave VH song is The Full Bug. 'You make conversation but she's listening to your cash!'

Peter Ace PAUL Gene were raw that’s why there the BEST.

I checked out on Van Hagar with Poundcake and its power drill intro but the song I think qualifies the best is “Pleasure Dome”. Musically it’s somewhere between their song “Loss of Control” and Zeppelin’s “Achilles Last Stand” except it’s a 7 minute story about Sammy’s vaguely descripted Pleasure Dome.

I was a young teen when I heard "Finish What Ya Started" from the Live Right Here Right Now double album! That and Judgement Day were the tunes that made me a fan of VH! Then went back to the previous albums and became obsessed

For me: 1 - Gene, Paul, Eric Singer, Bruce Kulik; Gene, Paul, Eric Singer, Thommy; Gene, Paul, Eric Carr, Bruce. I love the original songs, but the songs of the late 80's to mid 90's is my favorite.

Finish What Ya Started showed the band’s chops. Eddie playing a strat plugged straight into the soundboard, Alex not hitting one crash cymbal, Michael slaying the backing vocals, and Sammy playing rhythm guitar. Totally unique

Was he privileged? Yes. Anyone that had access to the legendary 5150 studios was. Does that mean he didn't earn his way? No. Like Steve said, he was self taught, with exception to nuggets of wisdom from a talented family. If his tunes were garbage, nobody would listen to it. I'm a Van Halen fan, and both lead singers were right for their time. I respect Wolf for going about things the way he did, and naming it Mammoth was freaking amazing. The kid's got it, and I wait for all of his videos (they're fantastic) and albums. Gettit, Wolfie.

Van Halen can do whatever the hell they want. They’ve earned it and I don’t consider any songs filler because it’s VAN HALEN! VH 1 Fair Warning VH 2 Women and Children 1984 5150 My tops. Everything else is still great but hard to rank. They’ve never put out a bad record in my opinion

There's no need to create new songs. People that wanna go see Motley Crue wanna hear the old songs. Mick is retired as he should be at his age. John 5 is great, yet doesn't have the same tone. Motley Crue needs to quit while they're behind. It's like watching Pamela Anderson getting older. It just doesn't excite you as much. 😅

I agree with the Diver Down, both songs from VH 3. She's the woman should have been the opening track on ADKOT. The inside, I didn't like all that chatting in it. Me Wise Magic is a killer track. Finish What yea started is a killer track.

He already has in my opinion. Just in his own way and style. He's not trying to be Eddie. There was only One! He stands on his own merits.

Me Wise Magic and Humans Being are absolutely amazing songs. Finish What Ya Started is good. Inside...doesn't bother me, but I'm sure there was better choices. Tattoo is absolutely awful. I dont like anything on 3. I like the covers on DD - the real gem on that one is Little Guitars. Amsterdam- love the music- hate the lyrics (Sam lyrics are generally corny but this was a new low)

Yeah that last album had a good few.... i enjoyed VH 3 more than that dam thing.
