when I was in Israel last year, I ate at a beachside restaurant in Tel Aviv. It was a seafood restaurant, but they went out of their way to meet my dietary requests. Anyway, they made a red rice, into a pilaf, and it had onion, garlic, peas, fresh pineapple bits and pomegranate seeds in it. It was very simple and delicious. It was my first time having red rice. Very good! They served it to me with grilled veggies, tons of them, and of course the typical hummus and flatbread ( that was not whole grain...lol...) but that rice dish was delicious, and I have it on my list to replicate.

I would have liked to show them how to make oil free hummus, but I did not. But they were kind and brought me raw veggies to relace the flatbread. So, even though there was oil in what they served me, I know it can be replicated easily without oil.

lived in hawaii for yrs, husband from Hawaii. All u need is some green onion , fry up the cooked rice without oil and add cooked veges. Dont need all those onions. It is so simple. Add just 1 tsp of coconut aminos and of course some ginger. very simple dish.

AJ I have watched a lot of your videos over the years and I'm revisiting this video and I admire your grit and determination to eat healthier. I have to say that in my home Teflon coated pans and microwaves toxify foods, so they do not fit into my healthy eating plan. Also, the science says that rice and other starchy foods shouldn't be microwaved.

Fellow Aussies-Australia Post has a "Shopmate" centre in Portland Oregon-register for Shopmate at AusPost and then American companies can post to Shopmate in Oregon, and Australia Post gets it from there, to Australia and your postal address. It adds another cost to the cost of the item, but it means you can buy from American companies who don't ship to Australia. I've used it a few times and it works very well.

You knock the spoon on the pot like my mum makes the neighbours know that shes cooking something delish. And your food thus looks delish and am sure it taste delish also. But pardon me if am out of place in recomending that you use another spoon or small bread knife for scraping the food stuff of the cooking spoon. Listening on my headset the knocking is right in my ears. Keep up the healthy cooking loving them.

I've made it before myself. There are videos on RUclips about making sauerkraut without salt. It doesn't last indefinitely like the regular preparation though, but it should hold up in the fridge for at least a month. You could easily just place shredded cabbage in a jar, cover it with bottled water making sure the strands of cabbage are pressed down beneath the water and let it sit at room temperature for around 36hrs or longer. A tablespoon of liquid from a previous batch helps get the process going (and shortens the fermentation time) but isn't needed.

@Txnative ; how can you possibly get fat on carbs when you hv taken away sugar, salt and oil.
On top of all that vegan.
This diet is an obvious weight looser. I mean really? You took away meat, meat by products, salt, sugar, fat, eggs,
If you were to build a supermarket based on this type of eating, all you would need would be three aisles
      Fruits/veggies/potatoes/herbs,
      Water
      Rice, cereal, pasta, pasta sauce
      That’s it.
      Here is the question?
      IS IT SUSTAINABLE, !!!!
      IS IT SUSTAINABLE !!!!!
You Ma’m hv a RUclips channel that keeps you on track bc you want to participate in helping folks do this type of eating habits. You write books about it, so this is your career and income.
For you there’s a reward in sustaining this type of diet.
But for most people, eating is a pleasure. And although many hv fallen in the pleasure trap, taking everything away from any pleasure will only lead to disappointment.
Your concept and the good Dr. Doug hv taken this idea to the complete left, a completely minimalist way of eating.
The Asians including the Japanese (which eat very clean) include soy sauce, mirin (sugar) seafood, pork, WHITE RICE, WHITE NOODLES, WHITE DUMPLINGS, and SESAME OIL in their everyday diet. They are very slim people. Very thin and well proportioned. How is this possible if they do not adhere to any of the principals Dr. Doug concludes.
