Maximum possible score: 40. Their nations have vision of 40 islands as counted for this contest. That includes the island off the coast of Tunisia and Venice and Rugen in the HRE. Keep that in mind when seeing their scores.
Spoiler below I am so incredibly impressed by Florry here, and the bar is so high for him, lol. I think he could have gone 40 out of 40 if he had a few retries. He had to beat Ottomans for 7 provinces (and had allies to do that) and steal one province each from Gotland, Sweden, Denmark, and Tunis.
Hey guys, just wanted to say that Para Bellum is amazing idea and was brilliantly implemented. Would be great to see or even attend some sort of amateur para bellum tournament
They might be saving it for a different challenge, but France would be the strongest contender for this challenge due to a powerful army, and presence on both the Atlantic, and the Mediterranean.
Both florry and habibi decided europe would be better. Apparently there are more islands in Europe anyway, but also the European starting nations are just so much stronger than Brunei or malacca
@@A122345z Theres a large number of colonised ones in the area already. Player would just need a good navy stack and keep on pulling belligerents in in order to core further. I dont see why everything from the Maldives to Hawaii couldn't be reachable in a hour
none of the rules say your nation needs to be in good health. surely the strat is to chill and overbuild navy, then fight every visible nation with islands one after the other, and sit on the peaces until you have every island sieged down. then peace them all out and pause the game. nation cant explode if the game is paused
Weren't these challenges done with each player's client connected to a multiplayer server? I noticed in the world conquest challenge that the multiplayer time limit on pauses was in effect whilst Florry was debasing like mad to desperately prevent his nation from going bankrupt, and if that was true here then this strat would be much more difficult to achieve: You'd have to get the timing *just right* on the pauses so that as little time as possible ticked over when the pause timer ran out. Big gamble imo, but definitely a smart way to play out the *end* of the challenge: Don't go too mad at the start, but with fifteen minutes left on the clock you can be sure that no matter how much time runs down, there won't be enough time for rebels to fire and so on in the newly conquered provinces.
Is there a reason why the time restriction is a countdown? I think that would lead to issues with different computer specs and possibly worse performance meaning less amount of time (days) in game. Why not just set a date in game to end on? Could even have a mod that displays a popup at the end date so that the player is forced to stop. I guess that would mean that one player would play for an extended irl time but that can sometimes be exciting seeing that player try and catch up
We offered a time restriction to both players and both said they'd prefer to go on time instead. Plus from a visual and entertainment point of view, it's more interesting! - Laith
I think this issue was also avoided by having each of their clients connect to a multiplayer server: That way the speed of the game is set by the server host, allowing for a relatively even playing field.
I'm almost 100% sure that laith counted 2 danish provinces when he counted the score for Florry. Bornholm is clearly danish at the end (he selected it and it said it was owned by denmark), but it also appears that the provinces north of orkney (the faroes? idk), is also danish, as despite being in the pov of aragon, there's no vision on the sea tile to its east, which would imply that aragon doesn't own it. Edit: Shetlands was the province, and he very briefly hovers over it as he's counting, which means we can see that it was aragonese, probably had been occupied and didn't get vision yet from the month tic, or was taken in the war with the same issue. Bornholm, however, was still miscounted.

watching florry just chew his gum never gets old to me
there's no gum its just air :P
Great gameplay by both. Glad we get a third duel. As always, great commentary as well!

At no point did the rules say they have to play in Europe. Seems like Japan or Oceania would have been way easier
I doubt that, a lot of those islands have to be colonized first which costs much more time than this method.
We need our interviews after matches!

Good Challenges btw. You know they are good went the best players choose difference countries to try and get advanatages over each other.
Surely Malacca or Brunei would have been a far better pick here?

another very entertaining episode! thanks guys
Never heard ‘POV’ more in my life.
have they got a delay in their discord or something lol
Spoiler warning
I think the score was actually 15-30 as Laith missed Cyprus and Im pretty sure Hawk missed Iceland
No I double checked because their counting feels way too chaotic and they both got it. Also, I was counting the total possible score which is 40.
Laith counted a danish province, as Bornholm was danish at the end of the game.
I'm curious if speed 5'ing and colonizing would work. You don't even need to finish the colony? Maybe?
Maybe as Castille so you could nab med island as well
@@Bigballerberry-e7qBrunei would be best i think because there are a lot of islands
Would you count Walvis Bay as an island? I guess not, although for gameplay purposes it practically is one
Why not start in Polynesia? Or play as Borneo or something? Or go 5 speed and colonise?
why didnt they play in east asia. Was that against the rules?
philippines would be mad in terms of islands. then you also got the Japanese islands, Taiwan, ect
Probably would be better as Castile to colonize Asia early
they could but playing in europe is way better
I counted the islands, europe has more
@@theendoftheworldhasbeenqui2485 if you dont count the uncolonized there was way more in europe
Commenting before finishing the video, but wouldn't Eurasia *also* count as an island and therefore a point?
at the final count you counted bornholm for florry but it was owned by denmark smh. similar colours though i get it

Answer: H:14; F: 29.
Out of 40.
28, as Florry did not actually own bornholm, which was counted.
Those bastards in this video lied to me.
I feel like majapahit or someone in the Philippines would have been FAR better than european majors
More islands
florry
