The Chop Tackle is the ability to stop attackers in their tracks with a low tackle aimed at the leg below the knee. Taking an attacker’s legs this low is a very effective way of preventing the ball carrier from moving.

As soon as we saw the video, we knew the Warburton tackle on Tuilagi was coming
Warburton tackle on Tuilagi is beautiful
One of the best ever
There's some great tackles in here, mixed in with a load of illegal no-arms tackles, and dangerous potential knee-breaker tackles that might not technically be illegal, but really ought to.
Lydiate for the chop, Warburton for the jackal.
You go so freaking low that if they tripped on you, you will still be making progress . This is the technique to bring every player down, well done. And Lydiate is the king at it. Great video
its too dangerous. id rather get headbutted.
It’s 90 percent Welsh chop tackles or else Irish being chop tackled
Dan Lydiate is the chop-tackle master!
The Sean Edwards special. Expect to see France start to tackle like this soon
They should call Lydiate 'The Butcher,' cos he sure knew how to chop
1:04 was perfect
These tackles used to be called 'tackles' in my day!
Lydiate, take a bow son
Dan lydiate chop tackle genius
50%penalties: No arms
Amazing
1:05 is perfect
Pretty much just dan lydiate tribute 😂
Toothless I was going to say that
Oooo that’s a good suggestion
finally some georgian clips in video
Nice to a bit of Welsh on here
Alot of these arent technically chop tackles, they are just good low tackles which wrap up the legs. The way you are taught to tackle in mini rugby
Half of these are just no arm tackles 🤔
Think you need to book an appointment with an optician. Plus if some do look dubious they were before the no arms tackle law was introduced.
@@iangrubb6470 Grubb. you need glasses yourself. And as for the no arms law...Its always been there.
Most of them are no arm tackles
Half of these aren’t chop tackles there falling over each other
Otherwise known as leg breakers haha
Nice video
Aaron Shingler tribute
May as well be a dan Lydiate highlight video 😂
Dan Lydia ye taking a lead role
A good tackle especially when the person yu wanna tackle i bigger thn yu its 100% sure tht opponent wll go down
Can you do a video on Sam Underhill please
My favourite tackle. Cant run without the legs
Honestly a lot of these tackles cause more concussions, to the tackler, than high tackles to the ball carrier. I frankly don’t like the term “chop”, the North American conitation is that the tackler dives at the ball carrier’s legs and chops them out with their shoulder. That’s not a tackle. That said loved warburton’s tackle, Peter stringer has had a few beauties; as always good video Andrew
@Captain Insano Shows no mercy Yes some of chop tackles (especially spear tackles) are outlawed because, if you look carefully, many players do not keep the tackled player in their arms. The rule is clear. It was somewhat a Japanese specialty, with a lot of knee injuries due to this kind of tackle - and forbidden as some never use the arms (body or shoulder in opposition)
.
So you made a compilation of Wales tackling and Ireland getting tackled and extras?
I have a chop tackle video coming out soon that is mainly going to consist of just Ireland, your point?
Andrew Forde nice
All the Rwc 2019 matches are on in school hours here in the uk😪
Last Wc my teacher put on Scotland Japan during class, favourite teacher
Same in Ireland
Has Dan Lydiate ever wrapped his arms
U probably should have just called it a Dan Lydiate tribute
someone tackeld me like this and i dropped a knee on his throat the second time.
Concussion and knee/ankle damage all in one. What a sport
Nick - You mong
The Welsh sure love these, the Irish not so much
How many of these are strictly legal?
Not many
Nick Cummins vs crusaders
AKA, Dan Lydiate tribute
Aren’t these a bit dodgy because there were not many arms and quite a few TMO reviews
Lots of dangerous no arm tackles here, lots of just standard tackles that slip down low - exactly the way we were taught to tackle back in the 1980s!
none of the welsh ones were yet they made majority of the video
Dan Lydiate then
Some of these chop tackles are just no-arm throwing yourself to their knees/feet, dangerous
So what would you say about a tap tackle?? Or have you never heard of one??
Ian Grubb a Chop tackle is a completely different tackle to a tap tackle, chops tackles can end players careers with broken legs
😂 jus call it dan lydiate
hahahahahahahah up the north shore
Dan Lydiate is the master of the chop tackle. Simple as. And for those claiming that they are 'dangerous' then surely a tap tackle is even worse? They could be ankle breakers.....Rugby is a mans sport. If you think physical contact should be penalised, stick to watching soccer.
Grubb. Take up football as your rugby knowledge is appalling
How is this not more dangerous than american football?😂😂😂. At least 50% should be paralyzed. That said, we could learn so much technique from this sport. Respect.
First
Joaquin Mayo fuck off
70% of these are just tackling the legs
A lot of wales clips here, must be made by a biassed welsh biggot
Some of these are so illegal with new laws
