  • This video gives you an intimate view of Chipping Campden. At the heart of the Cotswold region in England, Chipping Campden is arguably the most famous village in the Cotswolds. It is certainly one of the prettiest.
Come with us as we walk down high street, check out the back streets, walk a kilometre down the start of the Cotswold Way footpath, visit some of the village parks, walk by the town's prominent churches and visit a hidden garden seen by few visitors (Ernest Wilson Memorial Garden - its free).
Chipping is an old English word that means marketplace. In the Middle Ages, Chipping Campden was a wool trading centre. You can still see that today in the video as we walk past an old wool mill. Much of the town along high street dates from the 1300s to the 1600s as you can see from the vernacular architecture in the video. The town is also the beginning of the Cotswold Way, a 102 mile footpath that extends all the way to the city of Bath.
When watching the video along high street, you will see the old market hall, Saint James church and an old woollen mill (Court Barn Museum). The town was once the centre for the Cotswold Arts and Crafts movement and even today arts feature prominently in the town.
Here are some tips for visiting Chipping Campden:
    - Best to visit in the off season when the town is less crowded with visitors.
    - From about 10am to 4pm the town is busiest due to the many tour buses visiting the town.
    - There are several nice restaurants and stores along high street.
    - Woollen products and sheep motifs feature prominently in the town stores.
    - If you get a chance, try walking a couple of blocks off high street. The town has some nice parks and neighbourhoods.
    - In addition to being popular with tour buses and walkers, Chipping Campden is also a popular spot for cyclists.
-The most interesting place to stay in town is the historic Noel Arms Hotel.
