Guys saying this is rushed or not tight are taking too many drugs. Yeah, this version is fast but it hits as hard as it can considering they're playing in the middle of a forest on a stage they probably had to struggle to get to.
I'm looking at all these comments...This music is LIVE...THey are trying show the emotions at hand. Try playing that bass line and sing...I dare you!!! Granted...somedays the magic is better but these cats can PLAY!!!
Every thing in this song is mad awesomeness! The bass, the drums, the keyboards and even the song is a pack of a heavyweight punch. Lyrics are simply catchy!
I was at this performance, and just reflecting because it feels like this song is still breaking, yet this was back in 2015, the album came out in 2017...
@@SchoolofRockNRoll I re recorded 4 of my oldest tracks. Originally they were played on a 4 string. I re recorded them on a 5 using the B quite a bit to accentuate key parts. Then finished a full album of the most simple-complex material I have ever created and the finished result sounds fantastic. I play on a daily basis and have been doing so since the age of 13. Late 30s now. Is this Thundercat?
I love Thundercat and shit, and I know that he plays with some amazing musicians, but I still feel like they don't sound tight enough..... It might be just me though.
+Jeff Lanza I like to think Thunder is pretty transparent with his music, meaning if he's having an off day or something you could tell through the way he plays. To me the most recent offerings(like this song) that he has given us are alittle sub par, but I'm in it for the journey hoping he'll come out with some new good stuff!
It’s not nearly as bad as people are saying it is... Coulda been a bad sound check, maybe he couldn’t hear himself, never know 🤷🏽♂️. Either way great performance
everybody aint locked.. this groove should be slower and everything should be hitting real deep so much that you should feel it.. eh, don't hear it..or feel it
Thundercat is awesome, but I really can't stand when vocalists have their vocals just straight up dry. Just add a touch of reverb and you'll sound alot more interesting.
R0b1zzle137 Should I? I assumed TC told the engineer to leave the vox dry since it is his show. Then again, I don't know shit about pro audio, I just play bass lol
In my experience most FOH guys will add reverb and even use delay on vocals without being asked. It would be strange to ask the guy to add reverb and I would never imagine TC asking him to make it dry. It's just live music, you got to take it for what it is. The technical part of it is rarely perfect.
yeah, I would never be subject to playing a 6-string hollow-body bass guitar like that. I don't see the point beyond 4 string for me, anyway. 5 string is pushing it for me.
He has no choice for the range he needs. He doesn't have a traditional bass style as most people are more familiar with. People like Marcus Miller are critical of stuff like 6 strings asking if they're even still trying to play bass anymore, but it's just a consequence of his music.
+Johnisbetter1024 -- Thundercat talks about how he likes to push the time, if Justin sped up it's because he was following the bandleader (Justin Brown can sound like a computer when he wants to)
Y’all need to realize that thundercat only went quick because the drummer was going way to fast and thunder at had to keep up or it would ruin the song, the pianist just sucked tho especially that solo
This dude is definitely an alien: This is str8 otherworldly. Very daring in its musicianship, lyricism, and imagination.
Abduct me!!!!!
You should see him now
@@victorwormley7033 beyond ridiculous
how could you bad mouth the rawness of live music. this is what humans sound like unmitigated
I agree, but I don't think "human" applies here
What a difference four years makes....

I really want to blame the Drummer but idk... Six years tho wtf?
yo, i don't know what these people are talkin bout. i was feelin this shit all the way through. straight groovin
THAT SYNTH SOLO AT THAT END THO! OH. MY. GOD!!!

Pretty good wall of sound for just 3 dudes...

@@MLHunt ok..I can go with that too lol

Lovely. You can hear him nice and clear here nothing in front of it love it
Flatwounds make a huge difference in tone.
Doesn’t it look like G and C are round tho?
@ also B
Or uhh the chowney body, the wave length pedal or whatever its called and that along with the flat wound and 6 strings
@@Roostest Envelope filter, but yeah.
does anybody know where I can find some 6 string flatwounds

Turn up the keyboard!!
God damn live engineer. At least the bass is nice and prominent.

it's been three years - hows it going?

Whos drumming
And who is the white kid on the keys?😂 He was playing for his life🤣💕

Bloody hell, that was stupendous, even if the drummer's rushing and not listening to the vocal.
good vibes only from thunderkitty
Ab Soul on the drums tho..

10 points for whoever knows what effects pedal he's using at 1:29
Looks like he's making a cutoff adjustment on his MF-101.

maybe they're scared cuz they know where they are

Same sounds, as accostic guitars....( hollow wooden bass body's guitars , six strings,..

How more hipster can you get by having a concert in the woods
Hold my sword of omens...
Amazing for the Audience, a pain for the organizers and producers!
Wierd how they credit everybody except the musicians... aka the band... zzz
So has he seen any anime other than DBZ oooor?
this is impossible
Why always this song
maan, that bass looks super uncomfortable to play... judging by the looks

Tell your drummer to stop rushing.

Feel bad for Thundercat. He started the song slower but the drummer sped it up, and that keyboard solo was shit honestly
That's how live shows are arranged, it slowed back down for the last verse.
Not that it matters but just so you know, it did not

Wtf are you talking about? The three of them are having a good time and it sounds amazing. It's live music!
Agreed, Dennis Hamm's solo was bad. He's a great player, I like his solo on the NPR video
Way too fast
Thundercat has aged negatively in the past 6 years
man this drummer sucked. sometimes its fine to chilll with the embellishments , believe it or not it's not necessary to hit a crash every 2 beats
The tone of this bass is horrible to me
That’s his style. You get used to it haha
