  • This week we share a fun little exercise, to warm up your left hand to the instrument, and also a simple trompette exercise for your right hand. Then we combine them together for a musical sounding practice that helps develop some basic playing technique!

George, the trompette buzz is the hardest thing for me to understand, probably because my Gurdy hasn't been ordered yet. A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush kind of thing. So, is the dog activated from change in speed of the crank, or the force you use at that instant?

Hi Mitch! A little of each. If you crank nice & steady & even, it won't buzz. It's subtle little gyrations of your cranking hand that makes it buzz. The action of it is also adjustable, so you can make really super sensitive (requiring the slightest of effort to make it buzz) or go the other direction.
