Soundgarden -- 1996 Promo Interview with Alain & Natasha (Part 2 of 2)
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 11 окт 2010
- (JOKE!!) Interview with Soundgarden by Alain Johannes & Natasha Schneider of the band Eleven. This was a spoof filmed on 26/3/96 as a promo item for the "Down on the Upside" album. I transferred this from an official A&M promo VHS tape. Part 2 of 2.
The short clip at the very end is from a separate A&M promo VHS which I believe was played at a fan club members listening party for the new album.
Apologies for the accasional watermark in the centre, that's what happens when you couldn't be arsed paying for editing software!!

“May I call you Ben?”
“You just did”
I walk alone, but Frankenbass walks *_alone._*
Although this interview is a joke, it is still the best interview of Soundgarden I have ever seen
I second that opinion! And, the interviewer couldn’t help himself in the end.
"It's cathartic and hypnotic" says Chris. He had a way with words.
Wow these interviewers are so subtilty obnoxious
Mr. Sheperd is such a polite and nice guy, very intelligent and quiet. My all time inspiration when playing the bass
Look at Cornell at 1:37 biting the jacket... hahahahaa
It's a shame Natasha is gone RIP beautiful
"Well we are frowngarden. We frown upon everything." Nice!
Natasha and Alain are frigging hilarious in this! Thanks for posting this.
'There could be some improvisation, provided it was written down beforehand' 😂
English isn’t my native language, and when i was a teenager i loved SG and i taped this from some network in cable tv knowing not that much english. I always thought it was so awkward. Funny thing is, given the language barrier it took me many years to realize this was kind of a mockumentary, and to notice who the interviewers really were 🤣 Brilliant 👌🏾
awkward silence(s) are priceless. I was sooo, not even close to being this cool in 1996, or ever.
"Is there stealing a car *with* asking?" GOT 'EM!!!! :D
came back to watch it again. watch at 1:21 when Alain laughs!!!! then he goes right back to the straight face!!! I laughed so hard!!!!!!!
My God, I'm in tears! Thanks for the heads up Guth...
Chris: " I have a very loud toilet". That sums up the interview... it was a joke!
My mind would not be able to handle all these brilliant artists in one room at once. Never.
I looooove it!! hahahaha!!!!!! Chris Cornell, most unique singer ever. Alain, most interesting player and song writer ever. Natasha being equally as interesting.
Natasha will always be one my hugest crushes. This "interview" is hilarious...and knowing what great friends all of these folks are. Absolutely love this. I love her, and soundgarden...Chris, of course, and Alain. So rad.
haha ben is so laid back and direct...
"who cares what the bass player plays right" or something like that
"Is there a stealing a car with asking"? great comeback. :)
I love how they are all like....meh.... LMAO. and chris chewing his button.... RIP Natasha :(
Frowngarden❣️
LOL! funny! sad that so many people didn't get it. 🤣
hahah I love how at 1:37 Chris has to bite his shirt sleeve to stop laughing
hahahahahaha
久しぶり。。。
2:40 Natasha savage I'm dead
Funniest interview I’ve seen. Love Alain and Natasha so much.
Great references to other classic interviews. FYI: The "why has it to be so loud" part can of course be found in "Chris Cornell Interview @ Pinkpop '92" and for the string quartett issue and Alain's verdict at 7:40 search for "Interview with Pink Floyd 1967". Simply hilarious and funny in style.
"a song for the deaf...that is for you"
Chris Cornell biting on his green jacket: ) thats funny
LOL. "What about stealing the car with asking?"
Well we're Frowngarden, we frown upon everything....
Rock music is loud simply because it is rock.
After this interview, they should've renamed the band as "Loudgarden"
The childhood regression part was also from the '67 Pink Floyd interview, haha, thanks for uploading this, it's hilarious.
And again, not too many people understand the word 'spoof' that was clearly stated in the vid's description.
Thanks again for this! RIP Natasha
She's was the best friend of the band--RIP Nat
the best of interview is at 6:17 hahaha... I really love Ben Shepherd
Thanks for sharing this interview, really appreciated!!
Natasha could have busted on Ben more. "Serious musicians, zey do not consider zee baze GIT-ter a proper insTRUment - eet eez entirely unnecESSary."
This is absolutely hilarious. I love that they did this😂
This is so fun! Soviet Interrogation!
7:38 The Pink Floyd interview in the Barrett era reference is a perfect fit
Natasha and Alain would’ve made perfect Bond villains
RIP Natasha. :-(
Thank you for posting this brilliant spoof. 😂😂🤣🤣
Great upload, thanks!!!
My wife walked in and asked me if it this was for real. I asked her why she’d doubt it. She said it reminded her of Mike Myers’ bit on SNL called “Sprockets”. That’s pretty dead-on, with that German accent saying, “Now iss der time on Sprockets when we dance!”
May I call you Ben? You just did.. AWESOME!!!
LOL alains face at 3:50
Thanks for uploading this. I used to have the tape years ago. I think SG fan club of those times sent it to me by mail.
i like how he said frown garden and no one said anything. I bet the whole they were being interviewed they just wanted to say f you if you don't like our music. and then the guy went up at the end and turn up the guitar and kind of contradicted himself because it looked like he was having a good time up there.
RIP Natasha
Awesome. such a strange interview, but a good one. why can't there be artists and contrats in popular music today?
The lute and its progeny, lol!
I love Ben so much oh my good God
Ben is so handsome ❤❤❤❤
That guitar is tuned for Limo Wreck
Hahaha! Loved Alain at the end - the best!! :D
Was really expecting and wanting a Louder than Love reference.
I have a very loud toilet.
-Chris Cornell.
6:54 Chris looked like he wanted to beat the shut out of her. I know it's a joke BTW.
2:51 "Hmmngh"
I could see how part one of this video could be mistaken for a legit interview. It's feels a little more serious than this part. I think one of the big give aways was when Johannes says at 7:24 about the string quartet, "There could be improvisation, provided it was written down before hand" Jajajaja. too funny.
Ah ok, sorry, my bad! I guess sarcasm doesn't come through well in print :)
I normally enjoy a good sarcastic response - I must've been off-colour last night to not pick up on it! Apologies. Carry on...
hahahah I love how at 1:37 chris has to bite his shirt to not start laughing.
Omg, too frekn cool, I think I should watch again &again, lmao
HILARIOUS!
frowngarden. this interview is too funny
"Clearly she's not a musician".... Clearly you're an idiot.
I despair for people who STILL don't get that this entire interview was a joke that the band was "in" on and probably thought up the idea themselves. The two "interviewers" are friends of the band and fellow (rock) musicians who collaborated with Cornell many times.
If people keep leaving knuckle-dragging remarks, I'm gonna have to disable all comments.
Thanks though to the people of intelligence who do realise that it's a joke! :)
To the person who said that "she" is not a musician, "she" is Natasha Schneider of the LA band "Eleven". She is an awesome pianist/musician, and played with Cornell during his Euphoria Morning tour... along with Alain. So buddy, you are the idiot.
If that person thought Natasha and Alain were bad, wait until they see Marty DiBergi, who tried to create a whole documentary on England's Loudest Band, Spinal Tap, and subsequently ruined their careers...thanks Marty.
This is an interrogation not an interview
+Wilander Mascrenhas They are best friends. Youre an idiot. Look up Euphoria Morning then look up Eleven. Poser
I know dude, I'm just mocking the video. Chris has played a couple of live shows with Natasha and Alian. I'm a die-hard Soundgarden fan, we're of the same breed you and I
OHHHH!!! Okay sorry!!! hahhahaa cool man!!! Alains new stuff is awesome! check it! They were all amazing together on Euphoria Morning dude. check it!!! :)
Ya man Cornell and Eleven, dId you watch the House of Blues concert.....it's amazing! I'll surely check out Alain's new album. Head out to my channel I've posted some great Soundgarden shows
@@ZachCanPlay take it down a couple notches tough guy.
They hate that interview so much that they decide to record an entire album together. Euphoria Morning, open your ears.
1:20 We are Fround Garden.... Love it.
5:48 WHUPS :)
SOUNDGARDEN ROCK HARD
Ja. They opened for SG on many a date (I saw them open on the Superunknown tour), and Natasha played clav on one song from Superunknown.
LOL Chris, Kim, Matt, and Ben are a bunch of trolls.
For those who can't play Pretty Noose or BIMH, he strums the guitar.
LOL I'LL NEEVR STOP LAUGHING AT BEN SHEPHERD IN THE FELL ON BLACK DAYS MUSIC VIDEO NOT EVEN WHEN WE'RE ON TOUR HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Oh mylanta! I’m laughing so hard! 😆
Between two ferns comes to mind.
WOW KIMMY THAYIL GREAT PERFORMANCE!!!!!!!!
Alain can shred.
@shimmertone
"No attention" by frowngarden
WHAT WAS THAT SONG RIGHT AT THE VERY END?? SOMEONE TELL ME PLEASE!!!
No attention! Nobody answered you in 9 years? I can't believe it. Go listen to Soundgarden now.
Also, the guy sitting next to her was her husband.
Nice video fyfe.
Natasha plays this role so incredibly well. Not only a fantastic musician with a powerful and passionate voice, but shes funny as well:) And, oh my god how much difference you can create cause of a hairstyle.
haha nice upload!! alains generic central european accent is dead funny =D
WTF questions, here we go .... :D
Hahaha. This is pretty great.
I've never seen an interview where it seems as though the band are being attacked. I wouldn't be surprised if it was some kind of prank. Those Soundgarden guys seem like they love to have fun and wind us up.
this is a pisstake interview - it even says in the description people...
This is hilarious
I’m surprised Kim didn’t explode. He’s the master of sarcasm while Chris is very adept at avoiding a confrontational tone while being intentionally or unintentionally provoked. This is, actually, a very entertaining interview be cause it isn’t cookie cutter and isn’t conducted by Ricky Rachtman.
Lol I hope you know this was a joke
@@AllisonChains64 initially, I did not. By the end of the interview it was kind of obvious. The guys sold it as a straight forward, however awkward, interview.
@@robarnold6998 Lol that's what made it so great! I wish Chris was still with us...
@@AllisonChains64 Amen!!!
Ben Shepherd.
For anyone who wants to know, this is based off a Pink Floyd interview. Some lines borrowed verbatim.
KIMMY I'M COMING TO SEE YOU TOUR WITH MC50!!!!!!
@fyfe79 Well said bro
I wish someone would have pointed out that the orchestra music they love so much is made centuries ago and is recreated.
The music Soundgarden plays is created and performed it's creators.
Yeah, you can steal a car with asking..
LOL Fuck yeah A rocknroller born every minute
Ha ha ha!!! looking at all the comments, not many people saw the joke! I could even see it with my "Good Eye Closed"....lol Must go... I have some Soundgardening to do ;)
it seems that ben is hiding
Rebellishing: to bellish again, bellishing once more. 4:00
Is this real, thankfully the band members made it enjoyable. Were they dispatched to the Gulag afterwards?.
this is hilarious
