The one inch punch was made famous by Bruce Lee. It's a powerful close ranged punch from 1 inch away. The main difference between the one inch punch and the iron fist punch is the travel distance. A normal punch is 6-12 inches away from the target. Bruce Lee was able to knock down opponents twice his size with his 1 inch punch.

Damn the 2 people that actually did the one inch punch and actually broke the hardest board props to them
Yeah they’re insanely strong!!
One was and actual one inch punch and the other was like a ten inch distance.
ok
ok
well
To be honest a lot of people didn't do the actual one inch punch but i think its really cool how you just motivated them even though you maybe knew what was going on ☺️
Though the first dude to break the level 3 did do I pretty correctly.
True, he motivated them and thats really cool. But man ... The instruction are not that complicated. Why do so mamy people fail to do it correctly?

That made me so annoyed... the dude does a legit 1 inch punch on the hardest board and hafu asks "was that a real 1 inch punch??"
But then the girl literally takes a whole 12 inches to wind up her punch and he gives her the money with no questions asked?
Lol so much for equality huh
@@cosmicbilly I think he would still give it to him for breaking it since he did break it

@@scythe8609 ??????????
As someone who did taekwondo for 4 years. The key to breaking boards is thinking about not hitting the board, but THROUGH the board.
How?
@@nepzel42069 when you feel the board, don't stop. I think that's how it works.
@@snaukball8764 I do 1inch punch the walls every day like 20-22 both fists. But sometimes the easiest thing can be tough to break if my angles aren't correct.
That’s the basic of martial arts for sure
@@nepzel42069 He left out another important thing. You must also bend your knees and rotate your hips as well. From there want he means is don't focus on hitting the board, instead pretend as if you're going to punch the chest of the man holding the board. The purpose of this is because when people tend to feel their knuckles hit the board they tend to pull their power from there which limits their power

3:17 was the only 1 inch punch that broke the hard level board. Others went way to far back.
True
the 2 inches punch (yep, that's what it is) has a lot to do with knowing how to throw a punch, little to do with strength.
The power comes from kicking the ground, as you transfer the kinetic energy through. He wasn't using an arm swing, he actually used his whole body to punch. which was the correct way of doing it. this was also why some people who only used their arms to wind up wasn't even able to do it.
wind up punch is generally more powerful ofc, but if you don't know how to use your body to back up the punch, sometimes you won't even have the power to do it.

Yes
Not even that one, still folded his fingers before the punch. Ur finger tips are never supposed to leave the plank. But yeh closest to anyways and only one even coming close
@@princesslovelorn7832 You have to do a fist, so of course your fingers have to leave the board. Unlike the others, that guy didn't pull his arm back and he began with his arm stretched pretty far forward, too.
@@princesslovelorn7832 Nah , ... watch few times in slow mo.... He didnt pull his hand back at all.
His fingers were there only to gauge the distance he should strike at.

When you lack confidence, because you fear the pain you wont punch hard enough to break it. Almost everyone who couldnt do the last board hit it less hard than the first one. Ironically, if they put still everything in and it breaks, there would be les pain

I would love to try this, I have been lightly trained for this my whole life.
Finally i have been waiting for a new video love the videos hafu!
I love the smiles on these people faces knowing that the impossible is only impossible until it isn’t great vid!!!
0:03 you can see hafu bending the board and helping him break it
"Some did 1 some did 10 inch" actually caught me 😂
The grain of the level 3 board is oriented in a way that makes that board much harder to break. The first two had gain structure that runs through the board, making it much weaker.
that's the point
How so? Grain structures were similar. But It was a lot thicker
@okdghd if you look at the edges of the boards when he shows them stacked together, you can see the first two are cut so the growth rings run pretty much straight through the board. This is the weakest cut. The third board is what's called quarter sawn, where the growth rings don't go straight through the board, but rather curve along the length. This is much stronger, and more difficult to break
Despite the edges of the boards, you still need to have a refined technique and proper strength, or the board won't break. You can try to break it using brute force, but it will hurt you.
I like how he saw some people didn't fully do a 1 inch, punch but he still gave them the money :D

My favorite part is how excited you were for everyone who was able to break a board, even if their technique was technically incorrect or if it was just the green one.
👊😀 really cool challenge !!
🥊you should challenge yourself on all bruce lee stuff (like martial arts kicks, punches, pads, nunchaku,
exercise,fitness etc... )
then you could challenge the People on streets
That would be cool 😀
Those hard level boards are easy to break when held in a certain way and very difficult to break when you turn them 90 degrees, it depends on the "lines" of the board, so cant tell how you were holding them each time.
Yeah wood is easier to break if you don't go against the grain. I remember in middle school woodshop class I had just finished sanding the edges of a block and our teacher told us this, held part of it in the vice, and struck the thing with an open palm splitting it in half and ruining my hard work. He didn't know it was in use and promptly replaced it with one of the finished pieces that were used as an example earlier.
This is one of those things that's so stupid and wrong that it's hard to even explain why. Like. Wow. Let's say the grain is going up and down and the board splits along the grain, if you had turned it so the grain was going side to side then it would just split along the grain still but now it would be side to side. It wouldn't still need to be split up and down because of some intrinsic property hahaha. This is some real toddler brain thinking.
@@Nichaelas yeah but once you cut the board you have set the grain. Turning it after cutting it doesn't magically change that. If there are lines going across the surface of the board, and you turn it.... there will still be lines going across the board.
@@andrewg3196 Nope. I am a martial artist for 40 years and an instructor for 20 years. I am also trained in the Shaolin Iron Fist and breaking techniques. I know exactly what I'm talking about and I'm talking out of experience, we use such kind of boards in demonstrations all the time. Things are exactly as I told them to be. Feel free to think otherwise, and feel free to break your hand too if you wish, I'm just talking facts. We've challenged people many times from the audience to come and try to break a board like this one and nobody EVER, not even once, could. Then a student girl of ours would brake it, all we did was turning it 90 degrees. Feel free to try it at home. Make a video too, it'll be fun. But a hard thick board, like the one he's using here, not a slim one, those will break if you're powerful enough. You can break the board with a fist ONLY when the lines are from left to right and you can break it with a chop ONLY when they are top to bottom. Go ahead, give it a shot and have fun with your friends. Go buy a thick hard board like the one Hafu Go uses on this video and let your friends try to break it, (they wont manage, guaranteed), then just turn it 90 degrees without they noticing and break it yourself. Remember: left to right for a fist break, top to bottom for a chop break. If you manage to break the board eg with a chop while the lines are left to right, come over and I'll give you a black belt. P.S. : the fist I mentioned concerns a normal straight boxing punch. If it's a Wing Chun strike, with the hand/wrist turned right, eg one like the inch punch, then the board needs to be with lines top to bottom, like the chop board, not left to right. To Hafu Go: feel free to delete my comment if you feel that I'm revealing martial arts secrets. Cheers.
@@Mario-R-3232 hahahahahahahahahaha
Bro gathered his energy into his hand to break that board
Po is such a nice guy ❤
This is not that hard. But it does require full kinetic chain mobilization from a standstill.
So, generally it's a trained skill.
The last board is the only one that counts, the other two are confidence boosters or "kid boards."

Great stuff
Watching Bruce Lee's demonstration video with the 1 inch punch, he starts really close to the target, but he actually pushes a stiff arm forward, with basically his entire body into the target.
Yea that's the trick, it's like a wave that starts in the hips and moves outward
It's called CHI ENERGY and it comes from your centre. When you hear Bruce Lee in movies making wooo sound as he punches or kicks, it's not for sound effect- hes harnessing that energy.
