- Day 23/30 of our Spring Cleaning Spree! Welcome to Carpet Cleaning Day! Here are some quick tips so you can clean your carpets just like a pro. Our first step is to always vacuum the room. This will bring up a lot of dirt and hair that has imbedded itself deep into the bottom of the carpet fibers. It will also keeps your carpet cleaning machine in better shape, because it won’t get clogged with excessive debris. Now, a lot of carpet cleaning machine manuals will tell you to add the cleaning solution straight into the machine. I prefer to mix my solution in a spray bottle or pump of sprayer. This way I can let the cleaner sit on the carpet, allowing it time to loosen up dirt. This is especially important if you have pets and are using an enzyme cleaner, because the enzymes need a bit of time to break down the pet waste in order for it to fully flush out. I also only put warm water into my Hoover Smartwash Pet machine’s tank because I want to make sure I’m able to rinse all of the cleaner completely out of my carpet. Soap residue is very sticky, so it will start to attract even more dirt causing more staining over time. By only putting hot water in my machine, I can visually see when the soap is completely flush out of the carpet because the rinse water will be clear. Man, I could talk about cleaning carpets all day, so thanks for joining me today and we’ll see you tomorrow for Day 24!

Hanging up the drapes? WHY THE HELL DIDNT I THINK OF THAT??????
I don't need to worry about hanging my drapes because they aren't that long. Plus, if I'm washing the carpets, the drapes probably need to be washed as well. Do it at the same time. After the floor is dry, hang your drapes back up.

Take your shoes off before walking through your home it will definitely make a difference in the accumulation of dirt

We lived in an apartment 2 years, left shoes at the door and had large area rugs for decoration. Our landlord was shocked by how clean the carpet was, he thought we were cleaning with a Rug Doctor. (We didn't at the time)
A warning about carpet shampooers btw- if you leave soap in the carpet it will cling to dirt and make your carpets look gross fast. I usually do a rinse round till I get clear(er) water.
As someone with two large dogs, I'm also surprised how much at how much pet hair you got 😅❤️

I love my shark vaccumm! I highly recommend one . I have had it 5 yrs . Direct from shark , I got a 7 yr warranty! Yeap couple months ago I noticed the hose broke . They replaced the bottom head with roller bar and hose ! Lol had a video call and showed them ! They got it here 2 days later . Amazing service ... sorry I get so èxcited about how great it works ! 2 dogs 5 cats here !
@@melindasmith3713 My grandma has one too, and she LOVES it. I help with some housekeeping when I see her, and I've also found it's very easy to use. Especially to clean out and unclog for homes with lots of pet hair.

😮 curtain hanger hack is something i will now be doing
Cardboard under furniture legs! It allows more room to dry, and it will absorb any extra moisture plastic will trap and can cause mildew to grow
My question is : Why wash the areas that don't get traffic? No one is walking or lying near the legs of furniture.. I would think only dust would accumulate there and can be vacuumed... like under a bed... there's no traffic under a bed. or along baseboards

Nice tips. I think the carpet in my place is original (I bought 2 years ago), when I vacuum the whole container fills up with the carpet fibers. Why? Probably due to age and cheap carpet. I’m surprised I have carpet left, lol. I foster dogs and had a female (not a puppy) that would pee even though it would go out the 24/7 dog door. I borrowed a rug cleaner and cleaned 3-4 times a day. I also used baking soda & sprinkled it on the urine spot to draw it up from the pad. It worked, but would leave a bright spot that looked like a stain. Luckily the carpet so cheap fibers come up with vacuuming & it isn’t noticeable. Just wanted to share my experience in case you had better tips.

@@emopandaa only if you think HVAC systems just magically change air temperatures. For those of us living in reality we know that the air currents will suck air in, which can carry pet hair into them, especially if the pet hair is on a surface with a low coefficient of friction, like say a non-carpeted surface.
Our last dog had to have carpet. He would slip and slide on the vinyl and we had to put carpet runner in the walkway for him.
Well, the apartments we rent come with carpet, unfortunately so…

Yes! So the groomer tool can be used in a few different ways. My personal favorite is for grooming the carpet after cleaning. This stands up the fibers nice and helps them dry faster. It’s also makes them look amazing. You can also use this tool to scrub and work in the soap before cleaning and as a pet hair remover before vacuuming. how much of the cleaning solutions after you mix it with water do you put into the carpet with the pump sprayer? Like the solution I have says its 2 oz per gallon, my pump sprayer is 1.25 gallon, but I have no clue how much I should be trying to put down to do a 130 sq ft room.

I'm blasting all these comments . Lol I'm telling ya , a shark full size vaccumm is a miracle! Buy from shark not walmart . 5 yrs and I had a 7 yr warranty. They were great when I broke a hose ! Video call and sent the part in 2 days ! The thing is a great sucker...hope someone gets one and sees ! All that stuff cheap vaccumms don't get . I am now a loyal customer! Never had a vaccumm last 5yrs ! And it's still like new after part came in ! 😊
Do you go over it till the water comes out clean?
Good question! yes and no... You want to flush until the water starts to lighten up. The best way to test is to take a clean white towel and gently rub the area you cleaned and see if you get any dirt on the towel. If yes keep flushing, if not its clean.

These are my house cleaning shoes. Cleaning all day without shoes on is so tough on my back. So I have a special pair that’s only for inside.

That’s the one nice thing about having hairless cats… no hair to deal with 😂 they are very high maintenance otherwise (you have to bathe them once a week).

i had 2 of those Hoover Smartwash carpet cleaners they both were junk.
That's why we don't show shoes inside. U get a good amt of dirt buildup w shoes coming in from outside.

If your carpet is under warranty and you do this it WILL VOID THE WARRANTY!!! I used to do the inspection claims for when people had an issue and if we see this and yes we can tell they absolutely will not cover you for damages.
