  • It's been almost a year since hiking the Affric Kintail Way. I knew nothing about this trail, which turned out to be one of the most beautiful hikes I have done in the UK so far.
As you'll notice in the video, I was so surprised how few people I encountered on my three days out hiking and camping. The glen I walked through on my last day is a place I will definitely visit again. It was such a beautiful and dramatic place that warrants further exploration :)

Beautifully filmed. Thanks for sharing. This is a comparativly new trail so not yet well known. Its stunning and varied, so in a few years will be very popular.

Thank you! Oh, I didn't know it's so new. That does explain a lot about the very few people I encountered!

Thanks for watching! Nice to hear you also loved this trail. Although it must have been quite cold at night!

A psychological walk. Although being in the wild is wonderful I certainly get a little reassurance from seeing others walking and camping along the way. But what a beautiful route, thank you for sharing it.

@lianne.o Hi Lianne, I am awaiting delivery today of Lifesystems EX4 Anti-Mosquito Spray, seen a few people recommend against ticks, worth looking up and of course making your own mind up.
Look forward to seeing your next adventure.
      Eric

I find it difficult to slow down too. Perhaps we get energised from enjoying ourselves 🤔
Such a transformation of the landscape on day three. Walking through commercial forestry can get boring. The issue with these classic, open, treeless Scottish views, is that they are unnatural - caused by felling then massive overstocking of sheep, commercial deer & grouse for shooting. Andrew Painting's book, Regeneration is a good, science based, briefing, if you're interested.

These ticks are really scary, I would panic.

I did panic a little but at the same time could not really do too much about it other than hope they would stay out of my tent...
